I’m 63 and loved this band. No one will ever be able to take Steve Perry’s place.
Yes!!!
Yes!!!
Certainly NOT Arnel🤦♂️
I understand how you feel about this song. Every time I hear this song it touches me deeply and stirs up so many memories for me. I have it on my playlist 😊
Absolutely 💯 agree. He is the best singer. Watched the new Documentary on Netf--- about the song We Are The World and hearing Steve Perry sing he's the best one on there. Bruce Springsteen said Man that Steve can sing.
When I was 8 yrs old my father walked out of my life. One day he was there the next day he was gone. He didnt become part of my life again untili was 32 and we reignited our relationship. I never hated him i just never knew why. At my fathers funeral my Stepmother said your father left you something, I knew it wasn't money or anything material. She handed me a leather key ring i made him when I was 4 yrs old. He carried it with him every day and now I carry it with me. I miss you Dad
Steve Perry is still one of my favourite vocalists of all time.
We were living in a Golden Age of musical creativity and didn’t even know it.
Yes we were and did
I couldn't agree more!!
Too true. We were spoiled for choice back then. It seems unbelievable now.
I knew it, All one had to do was listen, and be able to hear the music that came before it to know we were in an epic time.
Truth
Greatest decade ever. No cell phones, people had to talk face to face, knew how to write, and most of all; it was real music with heart.
It's weird how u can listen to songs n get so many emotions running thru u. I'm 41 n this type of stuff is what I grew up on. So I get those memories going thru my head good bad happy sad but then I get an overwhelmingly sad feeling cuz it seems like we'll never get not only good music anymore but good times. Ppl can say what they want about the 80s but I felt like that decade was pretty fn cool. I was young but what I've gathered is we seemed more together. The connection between ppl was strong. Now look at us all u hear from tech companies is "more connected, stay connected" blah blah blah the more connected tech is the less connected we r. We've gotten dumber n more dependent but I guess those 2 go hand n hand. If the 80s were a person it'd b the life of the party tell it like it is loving punch u in the mouth obnoxiously likable bully beating nerd teaser.
Amen
Simpler times….

Totally agree with you
I’m only 20, this gave me shivers Down my spine…
TRULY A MASTERPIECE
Keep it alive. Tell everyone.
There IS hope then. A 20 year old that recognizes GREAT music is rare. You should also enjoy" When You Love A Woman"

Nobody can replace Steve Perry in Journey’s songs. His tone to the songs still stays in my head. Originals is still the BEST.
I wish people still made music like this 😢
I was 19 years old and I'm 65 now and I have never stopped listening to Journey one of the most awesome bands

I'M 60 YEARS OLD AND I'M GLAD BECAUSE IT IS MUSIC LIKE JOURNEY, POP AND LATIN MUSIC BACK IN THE 80s music had a deeper sense. Feelings were taken into consideration when writing a song. I'm glad I'm from that era because I compare today's music to 80s songs and there is no comparison.
With you on that one 👍
Every time I play this, I feel my husband still beside me, singing in my ear. The pain of loss and the joy of memory fight it out in my mind. Thank you, Journey, for this gift to my life.
Wishing you all the best.

May He R.I.P 😢

no fancy videos, no nudity, just great songs & voices...love the 80s...
Yet still the best music ever invented the fact it still plays today and listening to it never gets old love the 80s
Exactly!😊
Was definitely the greatest decade to grow up in. Wish I could go back and relive it all over again. Just appreciate it more!
Right
No nudity, but the band members sure liked to wear those tight pants with a bit of bulge reveal.
This man has the most natural voice it's flawless
This man was simply born to sing. Like, that's it. Flawless ability. Like a walk in the park to him
Thank God I grew up in the 80's🙌🏼 One of the greatest songs ever recorded❤️
I feel so sorry for todays kids. Graduated in 82
We got to experience the greatest decade of the 20th Century and the greatest music of it also!!
Same here ❤😊
Likewise! We had the best music growing up. 👍
They don't make songs, movies or TV shows like the 70s & 80s!! Best 2 decades EVER
Concerts were different back then, no internet, no social media, etc……..it really was a big deal to see your favorite band live❤️
Perfectly said ... YES & irreplaceable
I still can’t believe that I had to be home before BEFORE midnight on 12/31/86 Long Beach Arena -CA never have been able to see that concert in full - at least I gave up my stub to someone outside to see it he offered $$ but no way - here go have fun❣️if thinking maybe I should have had him get me their program - didn’t have enough money to get it - oh well
Concerts nowadays are just for the industry to boost their ego! Back in the days without cell phones and internet we could actually enjoy watching and listening to these icons! And I'm so extremely happy I got to experience the 80's era.
Good ole days
Plus no huge production with lights, pyrotechnics, spinning stage. Just great guys with a mic, guitar, and drums. That's why it was so affordable back them. I saw the Eagles I'm 1978 for $8.50, including parking.
Absolutely also it only cost 10-15 bucks to go to a concert back then
No better time for music. School dances, endless youthful summer nights...
É incomparável
This was my dads favorite song. He used to play it often very loudly at night while on a drunk after the divorce with my mom. Me playing video games. He wasnt the best dad, but he was MY dad and I remember him fondly. Tears in my eyes while typing this but dad, I miss you very much. Im sorry you lost your fight against cancer. It been 1,5 year since his funeral. This song was played then and there... again very loudly
Thank you for sharing this memory. It took me back and made me teary. I'm sorry you lost your dad, but I'm glad you have this memory.

Everyone loves Don't Stop Believin' but I honestly believe that this song is much, much better.
+antivercetti TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE
+antivercetti I liked "Don't Stop Believing", but I didn't LOVE it until I heard the (don't hate me now) Glee version. But i ALWAYS thought this was the greatest Journey song and the best power ballad ever. There's just something about the way Steve sings this one, and the line "two strangers learn to fall i love again" that just puts a lump in my throat.
Loren Montespino Same. I didn't really know Journey except for Don't Stop Believing until I saw Glee, and they made me fell in love with this and many more songs
+antivercetti Absolutely. The song is beautiful, and is frankly more iconic to me. (Also the game nerd in me loves that this was used in Elecman's theme in Mega Man. The two songs layered on top of each other is heaven.)
Journey has so many more good songs....
No one, and I mean no one, has the pipes that Steve Perry has. He is the G O A T. Gives me chills to hear him sing....
Hello Bebe.. how are you doing?
Freddie Mercury is the G O A T.
@@timseabrook616 Agree to disagree on that.
@@Bebe.B.IMO ... (of the 2 y'all are talking about) Freddie had MUCH more stage presence, while Perry - like u said had the pipes. No male singer touches him.

@@treefingers1183 No it doesn't, and Prince admitted copying from this song, and asked them if they minded. They foolishly said fine, OK with us.
They were always being ripped off by other artists who won all the awards and got all the number one singles, but could those other artists sell out an arena 3 or 4 nights in a row?
@nancywyatt821 Jesus, looks like I touched a nerve with my opinion. And yeah, music is all about the sales, right? It's not Journey without Steve.
Best voice and Steven Perry cant be duplicated. At 79 I’ve heard a lot of music and Journey is at the top.
I envy you!!
My father in law always blasts his tunes
I will always connect this song to my brother, Peter. He drove me 6 hours to my dorm as a freshman in college cuz he was like my dad. This song was playing on the car radio when we said goodbye and he started crying cuz he knew he wouldn't see me as much anymore. He shined as a brother, always supported and defended me. Now he's gone.......died in a car accident. It's been about 30 years of his death but it feels like yesturday.......the pain of never seeing the person again is what makes death so unforgiving. So please, please, please if you are reading this cherish the sweet people in your life that you love. Don't let a day pass without hugging them or a text, email a phone call saying I ❤ U.
30 years later the pain carries on. Sorry for your loss. Your brother is your guardian angel. This song is so timeless and relatable 🙏❤️
Thank you for sharing such deep feelings. I am very sorry for your brother, but I am sure he looks after you from heaven, and thank you for your positive message regardless of the sorrow still remains after 30 years.

Back in 1984, I was supposed to sing this song at my wedding. That never happened. I lost her 2 weeks before the wedding. All these years, and I still can't hear this song without tearing up, nor can I forget one single word, beat or note of it. I'm 60 now, and I never did marry, I guess I just couldn't get past it. -- Update. I would like to thank everyone here for your well wishes and heartfelt sympathies. I did receive some news from my doctors, it seems as though I'm not long for this world, as my health has taken a drastic turn downward, but I do believe that my girl of long ago, Danielle, will be there waiting for me. Update: 1/25/24, This is George's brother Craig, and he wanted me to post an update. George passed on 1/19/24, with myself and his nieces and nephews with him. One thing he did insist on was to have this song playing on his last day. I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful responses here, they brightened his last days.
I'm sorry for your loss George, my first husband unfortunately was a dude but it was worth it. Otherwise I wouldn't have found my second husband. He was light all over the place!! He died in 2002 and I still miss him. Not that I'm looking for a John Jr, but most men don't have a strong moral compass and lots of things I'd want in a man. Yes, I'm picky but that's ok. We can afford to be. You will never ever forget her and love to the end. BUT, God may have something to give you. Please don't push others away. It took me 3 years to find John. It was NO coincidence, I kept running into him every where. We had 10 good years before cancer took him. Sending you love and prayers and asking for God's divine intervention for you. ,🌹
I am so sorry !
This gives off such a melancholy feel the perfect song for a broken heart. So long my love

No camera phones, plenty of BIC lighters, no computerized voices but real genuine vocal abilities...We will never c that again..
aint that the sad truth of it all...so glad that was my generation...
Hmmm, I agree with the lighters part probably not lol! But the real vocals part nah I'm sorry I'm gonna have to disagree.

Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Takes me back to 1985. I sailed with one of the best crews ever. I miss them.
So glad I grew up in the 70, 80 and 90. Aerosmith, Heart, Journey, Ozzy, REO Speed Wagon, ACDC, Boston, Pat Benatar, Ted Nugent, Styx, Kansas, Meat Loaf singing his songs to our generation and the pure guitar genius of SRV... best music in history.
The Original Journey with Steve Perry will forever be the best
One of the best if not the best vocalist in music period thanks for all the memories that this music brings back in my life
the Original Journey is with Gregg Rolie.
78-87 Steve perry 95-97. Best journey time

70s 80s 90s golden age of music!
So many younger generations missed out on those times. When music was actual music. Mellinials will never know the 80s n 90s culture.
As i grow older... 47 now... The beer tastes different, the clothes are boring and the food doesnt have that zing, the friendships aren't fresh nor loud... and then I listen to Journey and everything that had been young and beautiful is remembered........ the girls, the pubs, the rock shows and all that fun....... Thank you Steve, thank you Journey for such a great rock song.

Steve Perry is the greatest male singer to ever exist. It’s just mind boggling how talented he was and still is.
He’s very good and is up there with the greats…. He’s not the greatest to me. With whom are you comparing?
This song came out on April 16, 1983 . My wife Angie and me were married 1mth 5 days before this and has been our landmark song for almost 38 yrs . It never gets old, just like our marriage. Greatest voice and band of all time folks. Sincere fact .
