I'm joining the Air-Force because my Schools JROTC is Airforce and I want to Hopefully go in the military as a decent rank or after high school do ROTC.
OH - this brings back memories. :-) I was in the Danish Royal Garde in 1981. After three months I joined the tambour band. We were 12 tambours - 4 in each room - living up under the roof of the military place next to the Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. We lived a life of our own and rarely were checked like the "regular" soldiers before morning parade. One moning the lieutenant had decided to make a room check with us. That was completely unexpected. I had been busy over the weekend, why I had just "thrown" my things into the closet. Sure enough my closet was the one the lieutenant wanted to see first. As a tambour playing flute and horn, I didn't get to use my rifel much (at all), why it was just hanging there on the inside of the closet door - behind a cover. When the lieutenant looked at the clothes I had on my shelves, I had my thoughts elsewhere ... waiting for him to open the cover to inspect my rifel. He never got that far. Hard to say whether that was good or bad. But the look alone of my clothes on my shelves made him stop wanting to see more. I held my breath, because if he had taken the cover aside to inspect my rifel, the first thing he would have seen was the centerfold of PlayGIRL. I think I would have made history in the Royal Garde had he seen that. My roommates had held their breath as well - for whatever reason - why we had been very quiet not making any noise at all that could have warned the 4 guys in room 2. When the lieutenant stepped into room 2 he was met by 4 tambours sitting around the two tables, pushed together, covered with all you need for a grand continental breakfast. It caused quite a stir, why the 4 tambours in room 3 finally heard something and got on their feet standing properly and correct, when the lieutenant stepped in. Finally the lieutenant said something: "Is this how the tambours are doing morning appeal?" We thought all Hell would break loose after this - but NOTHING happened. We continued our life at our own pace. Were never inspected again.
I was raised there, in the springs. I always thought the grounds around the academy looked like a beautiful green velvet carpet. Went to a dance @ the academy once when I was a teen.
I’m crying 😅😂🤣 I don’t remember the last time I’ve laughed so hard.... and never at a fart joke. Usually I think gross humor is cheap lazy comedy but he turned it into something special 😅
My husband & I belly laughed so hard when watching this yesterday, I’m still laughing out loud all these hours later & I didn’t even re-watch it (yet). My mother hates comedians so yesterday when my dad decided to put this on I was shocked to hear that she stayed in the room for the full thing and was laughing so hard..(I could hear her laughing from a few rooms over) she then proceeded to tell me today I HAD to watch it and she didn't want to spoil it for me but just know that I had to. Anyway, It was funny, I have tears in my eyes from laughing.. but the fact that he won a place in my moms heart makes it 10xs better.
Omg this exact same thing happen to me when I was in AIT. It was so embarrassing my parents had the mps knocking on my door at 12 in the morning for a wellness check because I didn’t pick up the phone!

Felt that. Closest expirience I have is anytime something remotely hinky happens within like 50 miles of whatever installation I work at my mother is always asking about what happened and if I know anything about it. Doesn't even have to happen on base, just near-ish.
Definitely a 'wing-nut'! In USAF Tech School 1983: We had a barracks inspection scheduled for after classes. New Squadron Commander Captain Johnson and a new 1st Shirt (picture Sgt Ross of 'Private Benjamin') checking all the rooms - comes up to mine and opening the door a big rubber BAT comes swinging down and nearly hits her in the face! My roomie was a big fan of Kiss, Ozzie and Alice so he had their posters up and HIS side of the room was all rock while mine was straight-laced USAF down to the hospital corners. Captain Johnson looks to Sgt Ross with that sorrowful glance "WHY?" while Sgt Ross just looked to the floor with his head slowly turning side to side - slowly walking away down the hall muttering "Crypto?" When they tell you - "When there's an imminent threat of capture - you'll have to swallow a little brown pill - or the SP's have orders to kill you" - you tend to be a little 'off'. ;-)
