Exactly. Masterful Composition and Arrangement. I know Zorn inspired and lent a hand here and there, but these guys, especially Trevor, Trey, Mike, and Danny are Machine Elves, and I'm not kidding.
Hi, Smitty... 🙂I`m a `pattonologist` too😄and I strongly encourage you to feel free to explore Mr. Bungle.😃They chose this name inspired by the Pee Wee Herman show when they were kids, back in the 80`s. 😉That was the name of an unsightly, ill-mannered puppet from that show.🙃🙂They started in 1985. as a straight-forward death (thrash) metal band with their great, but bad sounding garage demo from the following year, 1986. who they called "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny"...😄🙂There was only one song from that demo (I think, "Evil Satan") that sounded like a crossover `thing`, a mix of funk & rap & ska, as a kind of initial experiment... Other songs sounded completely like Slayer, Anthrax, I mean, reaaaally heavy.😀 So, it`s no wonder that they decided to recreate this very demo, 20 years after they broke up in 2000`s, and just think about it: their first material, all in all - a 34 year old tracks! - in the year 2020, but this time with a help of the already mentioned Dave Lombardo (Slayer) on drums and Ian Scott (Anthrax) on rhythm guitar, 🙂so you are well informed on that.🙂 After all, those two guys were their heroes from their youth..😉🙂And I don't think they could have asked their original drummer and saxophonist to come, because there wasn't room for them, or they were just busy at the time...But, yeah, you should listen to this re-recorded album from 2 years ago, this time under the name "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo"😃. No experiments ! 😃Just a heavy thrash metal they started with.🙂But, man...... : 😎The fame this band has won is well deserved and based on their experimental breakthrough in the 90`s with their 3 official albums, released by Warner Brothers 😉, right?🙂All thanks to the fame of Mike Patton and FNM back in the day, but there`s really nobody's fault in here, hahahah..😆Big heads from W.B. thought that they wasted money on this crazy Patton side band, 😄but little did they know that they allowed the music legends to be born.😉🙃🙂And, here we are today... Bands that are equally inspired by Mr. Bungle as with Faith No More (with Patton in general) are: Korn, Slipknot, System of the Down, Incubus, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit... to be honest - the whole set of Nu-metal bands, whether they`re aware of it or not...🙂 And I think Slipknot are the `champions` of unimaginative ripp-off action here 😉: as if it wasn`t enough to take the jazz-inspired music from Mr.B. second album in 1995 "Disco Volante" for making their debut-album in 1996, Slipknot literally copied Mr. Bungle`s stage presence with their unique stage look, mostly around 1991-1993 - the infamous masks and janitors cloths !😃Yes, sir, this is all in all, the most unique visual sign of Mr. Bungle who stood up to many others at the time - in addition to their inimitable music. 😉And Corey Taylor & the rest of his `Iowa crew` couldn`t come up with anything new for themselves, except to literally steal this look as if it wasn't obvious that it was clearly - the original trademark of Mr.Bungle! They even put some `stale sugar` on it, so to speak, making a kind of commercial brand out of those masks.🤣..I mean, an obvious stupidity of missing the point that Mr.Bungle uses them as an artistic amplifier😉 in an ambivalent experience of a vast range of their original music that, above all, should have delighted everyone, 😀not taking the masks just as a "cute" point for themselves! 😃If you ask anyone, Mr. Bungle live masks are funnier and "cuter" than any of Slipknot`s...😉🙂 They are really creative, tied to many kinds of reminiscence of popular culture, sometimes they look like they were put `ad hoc', at high speed on their faces before stepping on stage, but generally they are quite intelligent and there to make you laugh, scare you and make you think at the same time...😉😊 But enough with the Slipknot and masks 😄, I already wasted too much time on them, I`ll just direct you to some Google pictures of Mr.Bungle (promo & live) around 1991, and you`ll get the point.😀😉🙂 What I wanna help you with now is to cherry pick their 3 official albums from the 90`s.😀Is that ok...?🙂 And I`m just gonna say that during these 10 years the genres played on those albums (most of them) were: ska, circus music, polka(!), speed & thrash & death metal, funk, rap, pop, reggae, a lot of jazz, classic 50's rock and roll, rockabilly, `eurobeat` techno and rave techno, samba, bossa nova, rumba, tango, beat boxing, surf-rock, swing, blue grass, Motown soul, orient and gypsy music, world music, electronic music, exotica, cartoon music, "concrète music" (non-musical objects made to create sound), A Capella, ambient music, noise ...😎 Now that you know this list, I`ll type a few songs bellow, leaving you wondering what the dominant genres are for which song... Until you check them out to see if you guessed it or not.🤪Anyway, the pleasure is guaranteed.😉😊 Thanks for reading . So, here we go: 🙂 1.Stubb (a Dub), 2.Squeeze me Macaroni, 3.Quote Unquote (Travolta), 4.The Girls of Porn, 5.Carry Stress in the Jaw (+The Secret Song/Spy), 6.Desert Search for Techno Allah, 7.Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz, 8.Merry Go Bye Bye, 9.None of Them Knew They were Robots, 10.The Air Conditioned Nightmare, 11.Retrovertigo, 12.Pink Cigarette, 13.Ars Moriendi, 14.Vanity Fair, 15.Goodbye Sober Day... Have a nice day, sir. 🙂I hope to hear some of the songs from that list from you soon. Bye.🙃🙂
@@WhatTheHellEverything No problem, man, it was fun, like you said, yeah, even writing about them. 😉😊You can imagine how much fun it is actually to listen to them, both albums and live. 😀Especially because you know the work of Patton and Faith No More, here I tell you that in Mr. Bangle, Patton and his equally brilliant band members and fortunately - classmates from high school, achieve such an amazing and literally incredible stuff even within a single song, that it pushes the boundaries of how we experienced music in general until then.😃It may seem chaotic at times, but it's so meticulously thought out, organized, well rehearsed and performed live down to the tiniest detail and even more, that it really looks like some amazing circus acrobatics.🙂😎So, there you have it, you have this playlist above, knock yourself out with it with no doubts, `cause - "IT`s IT"...😉😊 You have no idea there`s an army of people who are especially waiting for reactions to Mr.Bungle.😄😃Go with it... 😊😉 Much obliged.🙂
Mr bungle. You either hate em or love them. I for one love them. Most people don’t understand the genius involved in making these arrangements
Exactly. Masterful Composition and Arrangement. I know Zorn inspired and lent a hand here and there, but these guys, especially Trevor, Trey, Mike, and Danny are Machine Elves, and I'm not kidding.
First heard them over 30 years ago…keep listening to their first album more often than I probably should.😂 Always find something new…👍👍👍

Check out their redo of The Raging Wrath of The Easter Bunny. A thrash masterpiece!!
i miss this being new to me...
Mike patton....too much to delve into...keep exploring!!
I never knew James Hetfields' brother was into good music
Hahahaa yes! He’s my doppelgänger along with Bert Kreischer and the Cowardly Lion and I’m cool with all that lol
This is not a Patton solo band. The other guys are as talented and weird as he is.
you're only 30 years late ,,,
