Dude is still making music. No stopping Mike Patton. As long as he sees something interesting in your band, I'm sure he'd bank out a track with you. He seems like a genuine guy more interested in the art and fun of music than the money.
The General has been prolific and we’re lucky to have witnessed him. Hopefully his health is in check and as a bonus we possibly get to hear more of his insane vocals in the future.
Mike is THE unique and I repeat, existing as the only one LIVING instrument with his voice. Period. We have to take as a sign that Mike had to take the mic 😁
This is wonderful, thank you for the reaction - I certainly hope you choose to continues to explore and create more reactions/introductions from Mike Patton's projects on this channel soon! I'll be here. In my opinion, I find watching Mike Patton/band(s) with his live versions (if available) to be the best way to understand. Plus - who doesn't love live as they always adds more and we get to see how it gets created on stage. It's incredible. Thanks and stay smiling, ALL -- your smiles bring light!
He is incredible. And no, he did not pass away. He had some serious mental health issues but he's back in. At the moment he is touring with Mr Bungle in South America.
Yup a ton of actual bands and projects (he tends to run more than one at a time in different genres) and then literally on hundreds of other people's projects - as recognizably his voice singing, as not, as sound effects, sounding like instruments, and so on. Then also voice acting (big one you may know is the movie I Am Legend. He was the monsters in that film) In his own or other folk's projects he's hit just about any genre in some form of it. Between versatility he has and being a workaholic he's got a ton of output. Mr. Bungle is one of his bands (his first from high school that has put out a few very different from each other albums and is still going), Faith No More, Tomahawk, Nevermen, Fantomas, Tetema, Mondo Cane project, Dead Cross, Peeping Tom, as just some he has going.... he recently took an extended break (well, extended by his normal output level) for health but is back to releasing things. Between his own bands, his projects with others, and his being support vocals/sounds for others' he's at times had as many as 4 bands/projects touring at the same time while also making albums which have required him to book as two different bands at the same festival or to leave directly from one band's concert to squeeze in that of another scheduled nearby or within flight in and out timing possible.... I saw him perform the Tetema project - to play/perform for the first time together in person after writing the music through the internet and mail with the other band members - and he flew in for only that one performance and back out to do other things. For giggles a few times I've attempted a timeline of projects in a spreadsheet... I've never finished it because I get burnt out by just trying to fill in all the stuff going on. Not just incredible range but ultimately more important is his versatility that is in active constant use.... you can have a great range and be pretty limited in what you can or choose to do with it, as I know is obvious... the combination of his range and what he can and does do with it in styles and methods is what makes him astounding. He's a baritone. Michael Jackson was a tenor, since you wondered.
He's just a master of his instrument..His technical knowledge of music and composition is also something special..I can't think of any other vocalist with such precise control,, to the point where he manipulates his chords in such a way when "screaming" preventing the permanent damage many metal vocalists wind up with..Listen to "R@*ing your mind" from the "new" Mr Bungle...Its pure insanity..I just saw them live on Friday..I dont give a F what type of music one listens to, if he's gonna stand on a stage and read freaking nursery rhymes, I'd pay whatever it costs. Lmao
Yeah, baby... The biggest vocal range in the music industry, or whatever you wanna call it: 6 octaves plus a tone and a half.😉 Well, that`s amazing!😃This guy is a `Renaissance Man` of modern music. 🙂He uses many different vocal techniques, dwelling through all kind of different music genres..😀 Incredibly broad and talented personality, almost a genius. 🙂That`s Mike Patton...😎 So you get the picture of his looseness, his general productivity, proliferation and the many bands he's entered. Just the sum of it: 1. Mr. Bungle - with his equally talented high-school mates, starting with pure thrash-metal in 1986, this band pushes the boundaries of that particular aggressive genre by coming into contact with all kinds of other musical genres, making experimental genre-crossing music which is almost impossible to copy and breathtaking the way it was recorded and performed.🙂🙃😃 There you`ll find: ska/circus music, funk, pop, soul, rap, reggae, jazz, metal, old evergreen music, old 50`s rock`n`roll, oriental music, world music, Latin music, techno music, ambient and film music, all kinds of wonders and even some crazy noise... 😉 With it, they become legendary, one of the first metal bands that use brass section, i.e. saxophones too! 😀 Also, lot of keyboards and samplers! Songs to check: "Carousel", "Stubb (a Dub)", "Squeeze me Macaroni", "Quote Unquote" (`Travolta`), "The Girls of Porn", "Desert Search for Techno Allah", "Merry Go Bye Bye", "Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz", "The Air Conditioned Nightmare", "Vanity Fair", "Goodbye, Sober day"...🥸🥳🤡 2. Faith No More - a band originating from San Francisco in the 80s, they had several singers before Patton came in and made them famous with his unique singing style in 1989 with the album "The Real Thing"..🙂 The guitarist actually heard an old "Mr. Bungle" demo tape and asked Patton to join the FNM, so Patton went from Mr. Bungle to Faith No More, but amazingly - he continued to work with both bands throughout the 90s! 😀🙂FNM are a famous alternative metal band that combined funk, rap, pop and groove with metal. 😎 It`s called `Crossover`. 😉 I've seen your facial expressions on a few of their songs here, so once again, here`s what to check: "Evidence", "Ashes to Ashes", "Midlife Crises", "She Loves me Not", but also - "Edge of the World" (funky ballad without guitar !), "Zombie Eaters", "The Real Thing", "A Small Victory", "Everything`s Ruined", "Stripsearch" (sort of electronic ballad) ...😎 3. Tomahawk - after the split of Faith No More in 1998, Patton started this alter-rock project that deals with themes of everyday struggle, dirty stories from the American Midwest, cheep women and deranged psycho-killers, the soundtrack to a road movie with weird guitars in the color of country-western.😎Also, there`s a whole album, 3rd one, called "Anonymous", dedicated to the music of the Indians, i.e. Native Americans, and you have only heard a part of it. 🙂What to check: "God hates a Coward", "Flashback", "Birdsong", "Mayday", "Omaha Dance", "Sun Dance", "Crow Dance", "Ghost Dance", "Totem", "Mescal Rite 2'", Captain Midnight", "Rise Up Dirty Waters" ...🙂🤠 4. Fantomas - a supergroup also formed after the breakup of FNM, more precisely - in 1999. It is Patton's most aggressive and deranged project, the music was composed entirely by him and given to fellow musicians to record and play it live. 😀 It is a non-verbal, non-lyrical band!😃 The genre is avant-garde, experimental death-thrash metal...😎Patton uses comic book-like vowels to paint the cinematic movements of a brutal, yet highly intelligent, strong and handsome masked robber and killer in high style and his schemes to get the jewels no matter what`s the cost!😈It comes from the series of old pre-war French books, where this masked bandit terrorizes Paris like crazy! But, Patton, living in Italy with his wife, read the comic book version of it, which was called "Diabolic"😎 Still, he chose the old name for his band - "Fantomas"...Ok, try with this first, it`s the short ones: "Page 3", "Page 12", "Page 25", "Page 28"... then from the album "Director`s Cut" which has covers of famous thrillers and horror movies: "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me", "The Godfather", "Rosemary`s Baby", "Charade"...It ends with the most successive album 'Suspended Animation` from 2005, with the titles such as: "04/02/05 - Saturday", "04/13/05 - Wednesday", "04/06/05 - Wednesday" ....👹😻 5. Peeping Tom - Patton's hip hop project, yes sir! 😎They released only one album, in 2006. Lots of collaborations with names like: Nora Jones, Rahzel (from the Roots), Kool Keith (Dr Octagon), DJ Amon Tobin, DJ Kid Koala, Dan the Automator, band Massive Attack, Brazilian chick Bebel Gilberto...🙂Now, this is what you would like to hear...😉Ok, here`s a few songs for you, and I`m out: "Mojo", "Don't Even Trip", "Getaway" (feat. Kool Keith), "Kill the DJ" (feat. Massive Attack), "How U Feelin?" (feat.Doseone), "Sucker" (feat. Norah Jones)... Ok, boss. 🙂I know this seems like a lot, but consider these Patton `cherries` and do some of them. Please... Many would love to see you react to it. Looking forward to that...🙂 Thanks for reading and C-ya! 😉🙃🙂😎🤓
Great Breakdown - thank you! I smile just thinking about the music. I certainly hope he continues to explore and create more reactions/introductions from Mike Patton's projects on this channel soon! :)
Awesome summary😊 However, even though Mike has a giganticly big range, it's not "the biggest range in the music industry". It's the biggest range in US heavy music though😊 Mike has 6 octaves, so do e.g. Kyo and Rachelle Ferrell. e.g. Adam Lopez has almost 7 octaves, e.g. Dimash and Nicola Sedda have almost 8, the official female world record holder is Georgia Brown with 8 octaves and the official male world record holder, Tim Storms, has 10
Bro, you just got yourself another subscriber because of this video right here. Look up Mondo Cane...the LIVE version... it's Mike Patton singing in Italian... doesn't matter it's not in English... dope as F 👍
Patton is a vocal god. There isn't he can't do. He even sure voices in games like the darkness. He composes scores for films, sings opera, its a vocal chameleon. Just listen to Mr Bungle, then Faith No More, roll over to Peeping Tom, and finish with Mondo Cain.
U sir would be a tenor 1 or 2 pretty sure The only other man with a vocal range comparable is the six octave man dimash A full size piano I believe has six octaves mike and dimash can hit every note on there
Tread into that John Zorn stuff carefully. I compare it to when someone tells me they like horror movies but they’ve only seen like idk IT and some 80s slashers. Like bro you ain’t ready for Audition yet I promise, maybe watch the first Hellraiser and then we can talk about maybe increasing your intake. If you haven’t heard Mr. Bungle or Fantômas yet you’re not ready for most John Zorn. And it might not be for you and that’s okay. Even those of us who love it totally get that it’s too much for most people.
Mike Patton is beyond comprehension with what he can do with his vocals. He is a unique phenomenon
i have studied everything patton has done. he is the best living vocalist.
He’s very much still alive and singing! Thx for the vid ❤
Explaining Mike Patton would take a lifetime, the man defies all generalizations
MIke Patton is the best vocalist of our time.
6 octave vocal range
Ridiculously diverse
Dude is still making music. No stopping Mike Patton. As long as he sees something interesting in your band, I'm sure he'd bank out a track with you. He seems like a genuine guy more interested in the art and fun of music than the money.

Weird thing is if you asked him to join your band he probably would. He's sang with just about everyone else in multiple genres. 😂
Nice - made me laugh - probably true indeed. 10 years ago I'd say, absolutely. Stay kind all!
Truth!! 😂 😂 😂
definitely 👍🏻
Mike is THE unique and I repeat, existing as the only one LIVING instrument with his voice. Period. We have to take as a sign that Mike had to take the mic 😁
Mike Patton is the goat. He's still with us. Watch Rainbow - Stargazer. You'll be happy you did.

no way love that movie it was ahead of its time
Holy fuck, never heard that fun fact before!
good fact. good fact
Also the Darkness in the game The Darkness, and the infected in Left 4 Dead
And the Anger Core in Portal
He voiced the monsters in I Am Legend and Left for dead also. Using no sound effects.
you found the devil of rock and metal in terms of singers
Mike Patton is genius level.
Great reaction, Patton still very much alive and kicking. Mr Bungle is first band Mike was (and still is) in.
thank u
the "new" Mr Bungle album is super heavy metal.@@Bklynreau

Mad respect for covering this living legend.
He's definitely alive and probably working on 11 different new projects as we speak.
You're joking but there is literally a clip of him singing Mariah Carey live. Mike Patton is just absolutely insane.
THERE IS?????
He's a dark horse in the conversation of musical greats. You should react to Retrovertigo by Mr Bungle.
Mike patton has done over 60 albums and is in 15 or more bands lol
Mr Bungle is Mike Patton's first band before Faith No More.
Mike out performed Mirah Carey and Axcel Rose
Mike Patton is a god. And those names listed were his various bands and projects
Ole boy is all over the place ! but he keeps it in place allways
He didn't pass away. 'The Hungry Ghost' was just him being in character as a vampire!
Mike patton is the man!❤️🇦🇺
To get Mike Patton at his best, it’s best to listen to him live, the Man is the GOAT.
Depends on the era and band tbh. Patton started phoning in performances at the last tour for FNM in the 90s

He could out sing anyone including Jackson.
Yes he does opera and in fact has done an album of it.
Look into the Will Smith Movie "I am legend"
Patton does the "voice" of the monsters!!
The Almighty Patton. The man of 1000 voices.
Mike Patton is amazing!
He's an alien. People don't do that. 😅 I love him for years... Greetings from Poland.

Thanks for the sub!
He is absolutely the greatest rock vocalist ever
Best thing is he doesn't fit into any mold, he just creates, no limits
James Brown has to pass the crown as the hardest working man and this town is bot big enough for the both of us.
Bro, you gotta get on the Bungle wagon. Shit is all over the place and really showcases Patton's range
Check out Devin Townsend & Phil Anselmo too.

The orc song sounded like some overtone singing
Til that Mike Patton can sound like Dr John
Would you expect anything less from an Arch-Angel?
I feel like the clips are too short for this. I would rather they played longer clips cos this means you can't get into a song's groove here
true

Patton recorded a lot of music, but also a lot of absolute garbage.
Just shut up and listen.
