    They call him 'El Jefe' and you have to see this giant chainsaw to believe it. Watch it slice through a massive 12 foot round log - a RECLAIMED log from private land up in the Sequoia mountains. Then see the beautiful wood that hasn't seen daylight for 2400 years. WOW!
    DWL NEVER cuts down old growth redwood. This log was felled 75 years ago and left behind the trash. John and the crew are giving it new life as a work of art. Please SHARE and SUBSCRIBE.

    Perfect fit for my Echo CS-370, and the chain cuts very well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBd8qUztQUCL8Rm1-aIig5ViBT2E_kO_6 . I had been using a Stihl chain that I had sharpened several times (sometimes at a shop, sometimes with my own electric chain sharpener), and there's no comparison -- the new chain cuts much better and holds its edge longer. We'll see how the new chain holds up when it needs sharpening, but for now I'm happy.

    If you guys cut a lot with that saw you should put a second power head on it, it would not only help with power factor but lubrication as well.

    • @jacquesblaque7728
      @jacquesblaque7728 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Think about it- make a mental picture of two power-heads facing each other, with b&c between. Note that when you try to run them, unless you invert one or have it rotate in reverse, they will only fight each other. They will go nowhere. Titan (Seattle) made such a dual-engine back in the day.

    Is 2,400 years old an accurate number for that tree or is it a rough number (give or take)?
    And how do you tell with such big trees?

    • @mr.chaosvicious5968
      @mr.chaosvicious5968 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to really know a tree's age from my own understanding. Is either carbon dating it or counting all if its growth rings.

    When My Dad got out of the US NAVY after WWII? He started to get a Family going and Bought thru the GI Bill His 125 x 125 ft Lot in a New Sub. Town 40 mi North of Chicago. Called the N.Shre Burbs.. Then He became a Master Carpenter and stared to build His Own House from Scrtch with the Help of others.. He Sided the Ranch House wiuth REDWOOD , that a Lumber Yard owner Owed him His Life from saving him in WWII..my Dad Ordered Cedar Siding, but when he got the Redwood? He was Over Whelmed and so Happy..( He still paid the Man for the Redwood over the next 5 yrs.. How was finished in 1950 and we moved in, but he still had a Concrete Patio and Enclosing the Back Porch to be a Den , took him 2 yrs doing the After His Reg. Job of working for Dart-Kraft Research /Miantenance Dept for 45 yrs..
    He wanted the Hosue Torn down when he and my Mother Passed On, but I saved all that Redwood Siding and 1" thick Pine the Den was made of....He built a Shed back then too, of Redwood and that still stands to day on their Old Lot with a 3 story McMansion Home built on that lot.. The Cement Pad it was built on had my Dad's Initioal and those of his 2 Friends and the date of 1952' Still is ued to this day... Been Offered $50,000 for the Redwd Siding but not going to sell it..To be left to the Local Highschool Wood Shop to make Tables, Chairs and other Things, to be able to work with est 1,500 yr old Redwood? Is Very Rare! The Furniture will be Priceless!

    • @TheDanielsWoodLandShow
      @TheDanielsWoodLandShow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the plywood fixed to the backside? That's to secure it. Sequoia redwood is very brittle unlike coastal redwood, which is structurally sound. Sequoias have thousands of micro fractures in them. Can't build much with them.

    That was pretty sweet but that isn't close to the biggest chainsaw in the world. I knew a guy who had one built out of a old truck engine with a transmission in it for speed cutting softer stuff or granny high torque cutting. He normally didn't use a bar that long tho. Think he had a 72 and something in the 92-115 inch area and atleast a couple ft shorter than that. What is the powerhead you are using there. 3120xp(jungle), 395xp, or even a baby 288? A stihl MS880 I think is 121 cc and Pan Canadia made a 134+cc powerhead saw. Any of those models I mentioned are much bigger then a homeowners 28-50cc motor as you know already. Nice job guys that was pretty cool. What is it cost to get a slab like the one you just cut if you were paying retail?

    Depending on how high that log came from that tree they could be missing 20 or 30 years of the age of that tree. If you were at the stump you would have ta add five years back to the seedling that you cant see.
