When you tighten your chain, set the saw upright and pick up or prop up the tip of the bar, then tighten till you see 2-3 drivers when you pull on the chain.

881 using a 3/8 chain is an absolute beast. But also capable of a using bigger sprocket to handle a 404 chain and any bar over 48 inches.

@@secretguyoz2 Yup years ago my one and only error with a chainsaw. Slipped right towards my knee and missed it by a couple centimeters. Crazy lucky, otherwise who knows how deep it would cut.

12:44 chain is quite dry. Also you can see brownish color which indicates that bar got too hot. Check oil and oil settings(screw underneath)
He had it grossly over tight
It's the biggest saw that Stihl currently has in production. Their largest saw is the 090.
The bolts for the cover are all like that when you get a pro series saw from stihl
In watching a video of these made here in the states in Virginia Beach, they do test run each motor, which would explain the discoloration on the muffler.

GUZOLINE ! You need this horsepower ? Even on east coast of Australia where everything is big dence hardwood this is overkill. MS661 is quite heavy compared to MS500i which is 1kg lighter but with nearly as much power. I just got a 500i very happy so far

How would that happen? A chainsaw just kicks when the top half of the front radius contacts the wood.
There was an 88 but they stopped making them. Good for milling. Used to use the 66 every day
088, 880, 881 just different revisions of the same model. I actually prefer the 088, 066, 026 over the later models

You should use the dogears more. Keeps the cut from wandering.

Biggest Stihl I ever ran was an 090 with a 48 in bar n chain. Circa yr 94/95
We used to run 088s,090s and 3120s with 5 or 6 foot bars ripping big logs that were too heavy to fly with the helicopters. Hello from British Columbia 🇨🇦
Stihl 070 with 42" bar is the most common chainsaw we are using in the Philippines. For ripping bigger logs we use extended bar 65" or over.

You'd want to keep your two hands on that saw cause if it hits a foreign object in that trunk it will kick and cut you in half.
That dirty log is gonna dull your chain real fast.
With a bar that long its nice to use a semi skip chain for easier and faster sharpening.

Or with any type of oil... vegetable oil works really good but can attract animals... chainsaw bar oil works well... any oil really
Power wash that log if you cut on it again or you’ll be sharpening your chains
You might need to get a new chain man just saying because it looks like you went in the dirt, and I do agree with getting your hands on some safety gear other than gloves, I get it you want to play with your new toy but thing can take your leg off. Also to prevent chain in the dirt think about mounting logs or a log roller simple and easy to use. Stay safe man!

I was under the assumption stihl was a vendor only sale and didn't do shipping.

Actually Stihl's 090 is the most powerful Stihl ever made, the ms881 is the second most powerful. Nice saw though!

Well first ima husky guy you are supposed to pull the tip of the bar up when you tighten and you are supposed to release the chain break first and you are supposed to onley reve it in wood
