I think this same game NOT being open world, being more focused, and being shorter and more to the point would have been a good way to go. I think the empty as fuck open world made this game come off a lot worse than it was. I mean yeah the writing is a bit wonky but it could be B movie fun if you don't take it too seriously. I think this was the year devs should learn that not ever game needs to be open world. In fact, most games shouldn't be open world. Unless you can fill the giant open world with things worth finding and doing, keep it small and stick to the point.
6/10 feels incredibly generous. I was hyped for this game but I personally struggle to give it a 5/10.

Never cared much for this game to begin with, but this was the first video i saw that gave a good review on it. Not just dunkin on all the crap everyone else was. This video popped up randomly for me but if you do these unbiased thought out reviews im sold. Gonna subscribe and check out your other videos. Keep stuff like this up. We need more reviewers that think for themselves
I think that, at least on the content creator space, they always fall for dog-piling on stuff. Whenever something is considered bad by a large number of people you'll see hundreds or thousands of videos about how bad this game is. If a game is considered good by a majority, the opposite, long 4 hours essays about what a masterpiece this game is. And then when the heat dissipates you have the "I was wrong with" and people will come to the defense of certain games or maybe they'll release a video with "10 reasons why this video game that everybody likes is actually bad and overrated". It's the cycle of internet. I think that, except maybe for Gollum or Kong, no game that was shit on during last year is as bad as they paint it. For example, I really enjoyed Gotham Knights, but according to TH-cam creators is the worst thing to ever happen.
You're absolutely right, but on the bright side, people really like when there's someone willing to cover a game with raw honesty, and that's a good thing.

Honestly gollum is fine. Its just buggy to shit and looks bad but like fallout 4 or the forgotten city bad but the gameplay was fine and the story was fine. I liked the idea at the end with little thing or was it small thing. I also liked how ya had to convince gollum's split personality to go along with your choice and if ya fail ya do what ya didnt select. Both were good character moments. No i didnt play it cuz of the bugs but i did watch it and yeah for the devs(they only made point and click games before) it was fine. Wasnt $60 fine but $30-40 fine.
Gothem knights annoyed me cuz it was not balanced for solo experience in mind. So i stopped playing after 2 hrs.
Yea most TH-camrs end up parroting other TH-camrs to farm views, with the idea that if people watched their video then those same people might watch their own video and if they copy the same narrative with a similar title they might pop up on that algorithm smh puppet world
Wait, let me get this straight...
-Quipy "Cool" POC main character that unlocks some unique power.
-Open world gameplay with fun unlockable movement mechanics.
-3rd person shooting/melee gameplay.
-Gaining new powers though the story that complete change the moveset.
-Fighting the government.

@Kris-wo4pj yeah they didn't the same thing yet the 10 year old game did it much better than this trash. Also there are ways to make quirky and fun characters without turning them into hateble shitheads.
Well funnily enough, the French dubbing of this whole story was... So well done they ironed out most of the cringe of these dialogues by having competent writting on top of exceedingly good actors for both Frey and Cuff, special mention to the translation team for finding a way to give Cuff a NAME without it just being the word, they went with her calling him a "really bad looking cuff" in a really ridiculous way "Un bracelet poukrave" (no I kid you not) and instead of using the item part of the derogatory calling "bracelet" they went with using the actual insult with Cuff thus being called "Krav" in french.
This went on to give him somehting that SOUNDS like a name, yet is a freaking insult to his face, and makes the banter actually fun, as orginally Cuff pushes back against the idea, before he ultimately rolls with it in clear and utter resignation.
In the end I booted the game worried about the horrendous writting, which even with a great ranslation trying to make it better, remained horrendous for all the modern parts, yet the moment the game truly began, things brightened and I had fun, the banter slowly became funnier with time, the characters actually got to develop, it was nice.
While the story remained cliche as all hells, in the end I actually had fun playing the game.
This is actually a pretty enlightening read. If that were the case in English, I think that would be infinitely more endearing.
@@KinzieK I can confirm, also minor peeve from me. Frey's cat, as a cat guy myself, I would NEVER do that to a cat, abandoning it to someone else. While cats don't really seem to care much, they are actually animals of habits, ripping them off of them is absolutely horrible for them and... Well it was studied that cats actually get much better at changing their habits with a person they know rather than by preserving their habits to a degree yet changing the person caring for them.
I wish to talk more of this but if you ahven't finished the game I won't say much more, and if anything if what I said interested you maybe giving the game a go changing the voices to another language could help enjoying things more ?
I'm not against playing it again, but that would most likely be waaaaaay down the line, but I really appreciate your input. 😊

I see what the developer were trying to do with her talking to herself dialog it was a little annoying but a character who been homeless and no parents and beginning of the story she always in trouble a kinda understood the direction
You know I played for spoken and it's okay the only thing I really really makes me cringe is the dialogue it's a million times better than the Last of Us Part 2 I can tell you that much
Quirky characters that are self-aware is an overused trope. People are thirsty for characters that can take their own world seriously, and react to it like a normal person would do.
I personally don't mind the trope if it's done well, but I understand people getting tired of it.
Correction people are tired of badly rewritten quirky self aware characters. People are fine with those characters in james gunn movies.

That "did i just do that?" quote from forspoken happens in so many Marvel movies when you have a new hero discovering his powers, when you notice it, it becomes really annoying.

To be honest, TLoU is not my style gameplay wise but I watched a full playthrough. rest assured, I disagree with like 90% of people who didn't like it. Was a great movie watching experience LMAO

The sheeps hating on this game i've always found very odd. Spider Man one of my favorite games of all time is praised as being the second coming of christ yet everyone who reviewed Spider Man never criticize how incredibly awkward the dialaouge is with new york citizens. They all act like robots, yet you never hear the same of level of complaints. Even FF15 got roasted by some but didn't get crucified like Forspoken & Final Fantasy 15 has a lot of legendary cringe, even though i still like the game overall. Unfortunately there's another issue "ADULTS" lol. Adults take the fun out of everything and many people are victims of political warfare, so there was a lot of jokes about her being a chocolate lady and the haters calling it "woke" before it even came out. When it's really that Anti social Justice warriors are just as sensitive as Hyper SJW'S. Frey can be cringe at times but that is HER character & are we not going to pretend that Dante from DMC doesn't have cringe moments? I love Dante but he can also be a cringe legend. Yet again you don't hear the same outrage. Unfortunately adults allow politics to intervene in everything they do & it actually brainwashes them into illogical thinking because of their biasness. Does this game have flaws? absolutely but those flaws aren't bad enough for hiveminds to act like it's the worst game or even one of the worst games of all time. I really hope they make a 2nd one and go even harder & bigger the 2nd time. This game is totally worth $40 bucks or under imo & has so much potential.
I'm hoping that I was able to convey the fact that the dialogue is far from the most important thing about the game. It's silly, but not a determining factor in game feel for me personally. Fun to poke fun at, though. 👌🏽

I really hope that people stop trying to mimic the Marvel movie style of writing for characters. It personally triggers this thing in my mind that prevents me for feeling or caring about the character because there is no way any living being acts and talks like that genuinely.
I understand what you're saying. Using that style of writing is fine when it's appropriate, it just never felt appropriate here. Not all the time anyway. The alley scene was ungodly hilarious.

😁👍nice video, the way I saw forspokeen was I thought it was a fun game, yeah it has it problems, like some real bad character designs, made everyone that wasn't the antagonist or fray kind of ugly, I'm guessing they wanted realism but resident evil and devil may cry does it some much better, like they make the characters gorgeous but still somewhat still grounded in real life, the world is big and vast but very empty with no one to interact with, but all and all still a fun game to me, heck my favorite power was the water ability so cool.

2. I did play the demo and kinda liked it for the most part. Gameplay felt good enough, the premise was decently interesting, but the dialogue killed it for me. Protag girl's constant cringe inducing swearing and bickering really ground my gears to the point of me actually hating her.

It honestly wasn't the dialogue, or the memes and shitposts, that turned me away. It was the fact that it felt exactly like FFXV. 😅The movement and parkour felt so similar. I was replaying 15 at the time, I was not ready for even more 15.
I literally never thought about it until someone said something about it. It really does feel like FFXV lowkey😂
