I bought this game at release and remember liking it a lot. There was some sort of "build your own pilot" mode that I played the hell out of.

Only thing I remember about this game was managing to break the Blue Destiny. You weren’t supposed to overheat the thrusters with it.

I agree about the Battle Sphere. Have you tried Zone of the Enders 2: The Second Runner?
I bring it up because when this game was first released, all the reviews raved over Encounters in Space, and acknowledged its flaws as well. For the controls, all the reviewers compared it to ZOE2, and basically said it was a "step in the right direction". The hope was that the janky bits would be worked out in future games.
Play ZOE2 if you haven't already. The controls are kind of similar (if kind of similar means "smooth as butter").

9:18 Look, I play Angels Fall First with the Inertial Dampeners off during space combat and that feels far less terrible than this looks. This game looks godawful to control, I can _feel_ how sluggish and labored the simple act of turning the camera is.
How did you play this game? if you emulated it on your PC then I would love a tutorial.
Have you done the Zone of the Enders games? There basically none gundam gundam. If I remember correctly someone involved with gundam did the story and designs. But... there's some comedy gold in those games.
I have not made videos on them, but I have played them when they were remastered on ps3. I remember enjoying them a lot but I need to get reacquainted 😂
Cool that you revisited and changed your opinion. In addition to the Lalah stuff, I thought the Amuro vs Char sword fight being actually playable was also really cute. I wouldn't blame you for being done with this game for now though, since I was getting exhausted just watching the gameplay in this video. There's still so many fun extras in the White Base storyline alone, like the an alternate "TV mode" of the story with different MAs and secret boss fights where Amuro fights various Zeon aces like Johnny Ridden and Gato. You have to unlock it and do a lot of high score chasing though and that's just so much less appealing now than when you were like 12 and only owned two PS2 games.
Yea I did some research and I did learn just what this game was adapting. It really did go deep af. This is definitely one of those "as a kid, I played the shit out of this" type games.

Now I love me some Gundam but do people really get on others' asses for not liking Gundam GAMES?? They're weird and experimental but that's why not a lot of people are gonna like them lol, unless fromsoft does the fabled AC6 Gundam DLC.

look. I love gundam. but there is a lot of garbage that bandai has shoved out as a quote "game". I love the honesty. It helps me to look and see what the better ones are so I don't waste my time. I can judge them myself once I try it and form my own opinion that is mine.
Now go play Armored Core 1 with base controls.
