  • In this video I'm showing a homemade 250 Watt geared motor ebike and a full build of the ebike. I ordered the new parts on amazon cost about $115 USD for 250watt geared motor, 24v controller and throttle kit, two 12v lead acid batteries and one free wheel sprocket all other materials were rusty scrap metal that I recycled and the bike I already had. You can build this without welding by using two free wheel sprockets and an adapter just remove your cassette and install. I like to weld on the freewheel sprocket and keep the original gears. This ebike works really well I've been touring around I mostly use the motor for assist, makes riding up big hills very easy. I can use the bike as a full ebike, it gets up most hills without help from peddling and moves alone at a good pace. The batteries I'm using are 12 volt 10 amp hours two of them in series for a 24v 10ah battery I can get about 24 mins out of the batteries when using the motor constantly, if used for just peddle assist can probably ride for about an hour or more depending on how many up hill climbing. Big Thanks to my Subscribers hope your all awesome, if your new to the channel ‪@kurtscottage‬ Please consider subscribing and turning on notifications if you'd like to support the channel. I built a Cheap homemade ebike electric bicycle, how to build a cheap ebike at home,
    No product placement in this video, all parts were bought on my dollar, I look for the best prices to build up a cheap geared ebike. You can build this without welding or can buy a kit that comes with the bracket to mount to your frame. Used a high torque 24 volt geared DC brushed motor.
    This bike is a Raleigh Serengeti 21 speed with full suspension, the motor was mounted to the swing arm using a homemade bracket. bracket can be cut out with a angle grinder, I used a plasma cutter, 4 bolts hold the bracket onto the swing arm, no drilling into original bike frame. I charge the batteries with a 12v charger or I use some of my homemade solar panels with a solar charge controller.

    I mean this in the nicest way possible but man what a dirty build, I love it. Welding everything together out of scraps and slapping on some paint with everything still together is exactly how I would have done it... I will do it, parts are ordered now

    You have an amazing clear concise precise way of explaining the process so others could do the same. Remind me to disregard anything you ever put up on TH-cam again.

    Perfect Video! Thank you for sharing your experience with a geared motor. I've been trying to find a good video demonstrating a low Voltage geared uphill climb! Keep up the inspiring builds!

    Looks cool, I've been thinking about either an ebike or one of those little 2/4 stroke bike motors sometime as a little commuter in the summer

    I'd like to modify this setup to add a "crank powered" 750 watt ebike motor repurposed as a generator powering a 250/350/450 watt while charging a small battery pack or super cap bank.The goal here is to use as minimal lithium battery pack as possible.

    do you need to buy a separate battery or do you just need the controller that came with the kit

      I bought everything separately for this build, I don't think any of the small kits come with batteries.

    I have the same kit but it is very slow and it is not able to go on hills do you think this is the motor problem or the battery

    • @kurtscottage
      @kurtscottage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're using the same gearing as my setup and 24v 500 watt controller, sounds like it could be your batteries maybe check and see if your wires are getting hot also. I'm using new 10ah batteries and the bike will go up most hills without peddling of course steep hills I have to help the motor.

      Open the battery box and charge the batteries? If there is no 24V charger, you can charge the batteries one by one not needing to disconnect anything.

    • @kurtscottage
      @kurtscottage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I charge the batteries individuality with a 2A NOCO charger/ maintainer. I also use a 24v charger from a lawn mower you can find them online. I think charging them individually is better
