  • Update video on my Homemade 350 watt ebike, I just added two new 10ah lead acid batteries and show the performance now, I also show bench testing of the brushed DC Motor, hooking up the brushed motor controller and I take apart the 350watt brushed motor to see whats inside. I bought four new batteries off Amazon it's cheaper to buy bulk in lots of four, I used two on each of my homemade ebikes. I only put two batteries on the modified kids bike for now to cut costs, I get about 24mins full ride time no peddling I only help the motor on really step hills but it will go up most hills. If I use the bike for only assist than I can ride for hours, If I add four batteries to the bike I should get double the ride time but of course more weight. I will upgrade to lithium or Lifep04 when my budget allows for it. This Ebike is a low budget build around $100 it's not a super fast bike but works great, I'm presently working on a faster cheap Ebike around 1000w, hopefully I will be posting the video soon. Big Thanks to my Subscribers hope your all Awesome, I'll be revisiting the topics of some of my older videos and experiments alternative energy so please bare with me. Loving the video man, do you possibly have a link for the lead acid batteries you used? I’m trying to do something like this but I need some batteries and am unsure of the specs needed

Great video! I wish I could get some more info on the Lithium-ion area, which you were touching on…

Thanks I really appreciate that. I might try and build a Lithium pack for my small homemade e-bike

My last LA batts gave out in less than a year, I happened on seeing Lifepos in the shape of the 12v 22ah ones that I have been using, after some research I went on ebay and ordered 2 Chins 12 v 16 ah batteries for around 130$ (seems like a deal for a quality battery) and a 2 amp hour chager for Lifepos (boy that little charger got hot during the charge up, but it brought the batts up to rated volts after a long time. I have not determined the range (just went a couple miles so far). I am done with lead acid in my home made e-bike. Mike

@@mtwseneca interesting, i'm looking into building a lifepo4 pack for a similar build myself, lifepo4 is a great option imo, extra price might be a bummer but they last super long and also have great power density for the size and weight while still being cheaper than li-ion, adding to the list things like safety as well

@@k-osmonaut8807 I am very happy with the lifepos, charger got hot during first charge (with the lifepo charger I also got on ebay but no problem), Take a look at the Chins that are available. I don't know the range except I went 12 miles with pedaling and still had good power, that is all I need anyway. Mike

@@mtwseneca sounds great honestly, i'm pretty sure i can squeeze similar range out of my own future build, taking into account the cells i'm planning on using (liitokala 30ah 3,2 prismatic lifepo4 cells) i can probably get two hours of ride time with the exact same motor as the one in the video
also, i'll definetely take a look into those you mentioned, thanks greatly for the info, man!

12V 200W would be to weak if you put it in , there are problems with the bearings in the motor ?

Would a 13 amp limiting 48v 350w take me up a 25 - 30 degree hill, without a problem ? My ebike comes with a 14+1 amp controller. So I am just wondering if it would work just as well with a 13 amp.

Sure but you would need two of them because it's 24v, Weight of the batteries might be a problem tho.
