    "When I die, I want people to play my music, go wild and freak out and do anything they want to do."-Jimi Hendrix, I don't think he expected anything like this lol.

      Look up Axis Bold as Love there’s a live version with Jim Dandy of Black Oak and a studio with not too bad sound. The playing perfect though. He was 16-17. Of course he could play it. He loved Jimi as well!

      I’m sure Jimi would love it. Why would you say that. Shawn has tremendous speed. Yes. He saw Terry Kath. Loved him as well

    I've listened to hundreds of guitarists in my lifetime and I don't think anyone comes close to Lane in terms of how far the guitar has been taken both musically and technically. It took only a few songs for me to realize he's far above Hendrix, Holdsworth, etc. I don't even regard him as one of my influences anymore because his level was so godly.

    Man.. saw an interview where he said he considers himself a fan of music above all else and a musician second.. it really shows here with how much fun he’s having.. always modest.. always otherworldly.

    Hands down, the most expressive use of emotion and speed all while playing through the chord changes. His phrasing and choice of notes is with no doubt beyond stellar,...straight from the inside and covering all the bases,..the way a cover was meant to be played.

    I don't know anyone else who can play Hendrix AND Holdsworth. Shawn Lane was incredible. I can't believe it's been 3 years since he passed away. What an amazing talent.

    I showed a student Shawn’s stuff. He is now obsessed. He came in one day and wanted me to show him how to play the ultra fast lick starting at 3:25. I just laughed and said “Nobody is playing that anytime soon so I wouldn’t worry about that one.”

    I think the real appeal is the fact that his sound has made such a huge impact in blues and rock in general. His creativity and uniqueness is unrivaled in a lot of modern music these days. You gotta look back at the late 60's and see how ahead of his time he was.

    Shawn Lane is widely concidered among musicians as one of the best guitarists of all time. there is a reason why so many musicians think this way i think he is the greatest.
    I'm not giving you the satisfaction of replying to your stupid comments people like you will never understand how amazing Shawn was and he inspired people so much that they miss him dearly.
    I'm a massive fan and i find it unbelievable when someone can't understand how great shawn was.

    Now this is what you call playing the gat. I mean thrashing the bejesus out of it. Not just shredding, not just emotion, not just performance, not just showing off, just beating the fucking crap out of that fucking guitar beautifully.He aint playing it, he is fucking dealing to it.Awesome! Thats how we pay homage to Hendrix, respect.

  • @figgyfucfaced
    @figgyfucfaced 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    i will say this, and only Once ... the fact that you can even compare any guitarist of today to hendrix or would even want to is a sole indicator and true testament in itself that he in fact was and is the greatest guitarist of all times almost forty years after his death and people are still willing to compare him with guitarists of todays genre which is first of all unfair because of how guitar has changed so much from hendrix' time...

  • @RediForKing
    @RediForKing 14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You know that's the thing.
    You can find a better copy of Petrucci, Batio, Malmsteen and any other shredder here on youtube, but I've never seen a copy of Shawn Lane in here.

    You have driven me to reply.
    It doesn't matter how many notes you can play a second shawn played super fast but it sounded emotional and soulful.
    Shawn can play at any speed and blow my mind. The last word i would ever use to describe Shawn is mindless, Shawn knew every single note he was playing and chose them out of pure prefection.
    I think Shawn is the most underrated guitarist of all time there not that many huge fans but like me they all are so loyal and love his music dearly.

    you obviously have no clue who Shawn Lane is if you concider his licks to do have soul, i have never heard so much non sense.
    Shawn to me is the most soulful shredder there ever was and personally there is no one that even comes close to Shawn.
    Shawn was perfection in everyway.
    You shouldn't nock the best there is a reason why he was known by paul gilbert as the scariest guitarist of all time becuase he did licks no one could do and they was so emotive and phrased perfectly.

    Just don't compare guitarists from different time periods. Hendrix paved the way for guitarists like Shawn Lane to be as godly as they were. @Kingding6 well shane and govan are two totally different styles of instrumental music from vai and satch, vai is top of the foodchain for his style of music, lane is top of the heap for his, but the two are as different as comparing jazz to rock, or hip hop to r&b, thier two different animals that have similarities (they are both instrumental guitarists), but yet are worlds apart, but for the most part we agree

    @andrewkeen24 His music may be simple, but Joe is in fact a melodic genius. Shawn Lane's melodies are great when it comes to emotion (Epilogue for Lisa), but lack the catchiness that Joe's melodies have, which many people enjoy more than emotion or technicality. It all comes down to personal preference. Personally, I enjoy both at different times and so I listen to both artists. Listen to 'Ten Words' or 'Littleworth Lane' if you want Satch songs that combine both emotion and hook.

  • @YngtchieMusic
    @YngtchieMusic 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    And I have to disagree with you. It's not about the speed, because if that was the case, then there are tons of guitarists out there who focus solely on speed, and Shawn was not one of them.
    I'm not saying he's better than Hendrix, because it's not a competition. I feel Shawn Lane was a brilliant virtuoso, just like Hendrix. And like Shawn, I'm a very dedicated Hendrix fan.
    So there's no reason to be disrespectful.

Look at how amazing a person Shawn Lane is...do you really think he'd care what someone like this thinks of him? Or what he thinks of anything for that matter? I know what he's saying is immature and offensive...but really at the end of the day if the person has no credibility, neither do his comments. This persons looking for attention, don't give it to him.

    name two guitar instrumentalists who have accomplished more or sold more units than steve vai, or joe satriani, you can't, so he obviously gets the credit for being at the top of the food chain in a genre he helped popularize, arguably there are better artists out there, and we could debate this but our answers would just be opinions based on personal preference. but what we do know is that no one has surpassed their (vai/satch) accomplishments, or given back as much to upcoming artists
