I just grabbed one. I like that they openly admit it's a tribute to the speedy BUT also make it all their own with the red bezel, hands in the chrono subdials, etc so it's not a straight up speedy dupe/copy but rather their own take on it. I do wish some of these Chinese brands that have relied on homages did this more.
I prefer my homages to be more homage than clomage. The sad thing is that the Chinese brands do try to put out original designs now and again, but they just don't sell as well as the clomages.
I thought about it but after buying the black Pagani speedy homage watch and the Pagani Daytona I just couldn't see my way to enough desire for it. This is a nice review of it. Regards from Canada.
Great presentation. I do not own the execution in question. I actually own the PD-1701 "Moon Watch Professional" V2. In case you're unaware, the "V2" has the mirror-polished, silver steel hands, and indices, which I very much like. I purchased this version intentionally, over the "V3" which is more aesthetically faithful to the original design, w/ it's bright white, powder-coated handset, and painted on indices. The "V2's" dial, is more reminiscent of that of the Omega, Speedmaster "Reduced." It is surprising how the model is in low light conditions, as the metal dial furniture, actually grab and reflect all available light. Mine also is absent the presence of ARC, which it desperately could benefit from. All in all though, for the price, I think these are some fun little watches!!! I'm glad to see Pagani keep expanding upon the line-up of different colorways available. I remain hopeful that they will release the Pagani "Tin-Tin." Now THAT, I would be all about!!!! Please do keep up the great work. Cheers....
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the info. I knew of the V2 with it's polished hands as I remember people complaining about them in the groups, whereas I thought it was a nice departure from the regular white hands. Pagani adding AR and not dramatically increasing their prices is a boon for sure. Phylida do a tin tin with the ST19 mechanical chrono but they are not regularly available, the watch head is very thicc (I had the regular moonwatch version for a while) and you have to put up with Phylida as a brand name on your wrist. Maybe not the best recommendation, ha.
Cool. I've had the blue with white bezel "Uranus" version for a couple of months ago and it's been very good. The edges on the case were a little bit sharp but not too bad and a bit of 600 grade emery paper smoothed it nicely. Confession. I got the original Mission to Uranus when it came out in Istanbul, they all sold out but unusually there was just a small queue of 30 or 40 peoples. Anyway got it because I liked the colour, but my god, it is a piece of 💩. I lost the top pusher just fell off on the street somewhere, crystal got scratched and I got a blue coloured wrist. Got my money back because of the blue wrist. They probably would have blamed me on the pusher and the crystal. Saw an ad for the Pagani and immediately got it. It's just a world away in quality from the plastic crap. PS. I didn't realize the bezel was sapphire, I actually thought it was ceramic! Excellent review!! I'm probably going to get this one later on.
Cheers and thanks for the comment. I was all in to buy a mission to the moon when they were announced but couldn't get one for love nor money. When the reviews came in I was glad I wasn't afforded the opportunity. Swiss made doesn't always mean better, and although a lot of people say it's an omega. It's a swatch with omega branding.
I picked it up for $48 on the AliExpress 11-11 sale, said more on the page for final price but was even less once in my cart. I don’t remember getting the NATO strap, it did come with a little black push pin tool. I wish they did the big red shroud of the AK project, love the space capsule hands though. I had wanted the Mars MoonSwatch but the closest Swatch shop is 800 miles away. The bracelet is light and cheap. Ordered a red leather NATO/Zulu strap which hasn’t arrived yet, off Etsy, didn’t notice it was shipping from Ukraine at the time I ordered.
Recently I had the opportunity to try on the real Speedmaster one thing that Pagani has gotten completely wrong is the bracelet the taper of the bracelet and the clasp... 😢
They're definitely not comparable, but in paganis defence, they are charging 100 bucks for the whole watch, whereas Omega would want closer to 1000 for the bracelet alone.
Great review! I just bought the AK with black bezel during the June sale for USD60.75. I don't know how they can sell a watch with all those specs for so little. Looking forward to getting it!
I believe they took inspiration from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic LE Speedmaster for the Bezel rather than the Alaska Project. The face and hands are definitely from the MoonSwatch..
Definitely, I wasn't up to date with all the speedmaster variants at the time of the video, but since I've realised it was the Tokyo edition. So far, every homage I've thought has had a bit of originality has actually been an aspect from another watch.
I have the same watch It's thickness is 14.1m, how did you measure 13 mm? Where is the AR coating ? It is not written in the specs and it does not k like ? But it is a beautiful watch for the money you pay
At 11:20 , did you notice the minute hand jump a little after resetting? I have this problem as well and have it on another vk63 watch. Was wondering if it is a wide spread problem or is it just a case of an get unlucky with the qc
I hadn't caught that just watched the video back and I think I can see it. Just tried replicating it with the watch at different times and it wasn't doing it or my eyes couldn't pick up the wobble. I've had a few VK64's but this is my first VK63 haven't had any issues with it on wrist, not sure if there's a wider issue. Caliber corner who I mentioned in the video will usually list any known issues with movements and they haven't mentioned anything so may be luck of the qc.
This is my first pagani the watch looks better in person I also paid full didn't know there was a sale few days from when I purchased oh well it's worth the $98 dollars I paid for it.
Yeah very rarely is a watch so cheap that it makes the buying decision so easy, but I got this for $69 and I didn't even get to use the additional $5 off coupon because they ran out.
@@thewristwatchnewschannel Hi mine arrived yesterday and like you I think its mint, I also bought the one with the Tiffany face and that is also top notch
I don't know, I had a subscriber say it was, but when I asked the store, I didn't get a reply. I asked again earlier and again haven't had a reply, so I would err on the side of caution if you want a sapphire bezel.
Just checked my messages and I got reply. The black is ceramic not sapphire that's from the Pagani Design AE official store where I bought my red one from.
@@thewristwatchnewschannel thank you! Ceramic is perfectly fine and I think I'm going to get a 1701 v3 lunar the next time I get a coupon or there's a sale. I was ready to get the black ceramic v5 and I realized they dropped the date window. I need the date window my memory is horrible
I am waiting for mine to arrive in the post. It is way better then the moonswatch by a lot!!!! Way cheaper, and it will last. They made the same one with a black bezel insert as well.
That clasp is better than my brand new 800€ Sumo I shit you not. Btw Manny Mainstream brands with double sapphire glass would charge their watch 300$ more just for the Sapphire.Remember domed sapphire crystal is very expensive!!
This is why I've been struggling with entry tier watches of the swiss and japanese of late. The Chinese watches are now matching their quality and have gone up in price to do so but nowhere near the same cost. Now I know many will say labour is cheap and the economics of communist run China allows it, but materials cost what materials cost in the end.
If they shortened it by about 50% it would be a useful "hot day" extension you could flip open if your wrist swells or sweats. Otherwise it's silly... it's not enough to fit over a coat or anything practical.
@@rsinger2597yeah, no ones wrist expands that much in the summer. If it were a glid-lock style or one that can be adjusted millimeters at a time like clasps that some microbrands use, that would be useful.
@@UnburdenedByWhatHasBeen yeah I have a cheap sub homage with a small flip out extension that expands the bracelet by maybe 5mm and it works well for hot days, but that's all you need... so they just need to make the flip out really short.
I bought this watch some days ago: The watch itself is really great! But the bracelet has very sharp edges. Simply poor quality! The lume is very weak too. Come on Pagani, better up the bracelet and the lume and sell the next version for € 140.-
I got the PD-1701 V3 and liked it so much I've just ordered this one the red is really striking.

I got mine, loved it instantly, though i have the v3 moonswatch homage, i think this mission to alaska would be my new favorite.
I'm about to pull the trigger on this - thanks for getting it in for review 👍🏼

That divers extension is useless. I wish they would go back to the sweaty day extension they had on the 1644 Daytona homage, that one is so useful.
