Hi Rob. The ceramic used in the manufacture of the case is Zirconium Dioxide, as used by Omega in the 'Dark Side of the Moon' series of Speedmaster watches. It is a very hard material, and like many ceramics it can, in some circumstances, be prone to brittleness. The inclusion of a polymer is to reduce the brittleness & increase 'toughness' with a subsequent minor reduction in overall hardness. It also gives a different, less sterile, 'feel' to the material. On paper, at least, it would seem to be a good solution. The polymer used in the mix is derived from castor oil (hence the 'bio' tag) is a member of the Nylon family of plastics, and is known as 'Polyamide 11', or sometimes just as 'Nylon 11'. Time will tell (ouch), but I think this type of material will have an increasingly important role to play in applications such as this.
I bought an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch with the hesalite crystal a month ago as it was one of my grail watches, and actually really like this MoonSwatch as a fun piece. I will buy a couple once available online. Thank you Rob for sharing 👍
Owned a couple of Swatches in the late 80's. Knowing what I know now, I would not buy a watch with an acrylic crystal again. For $260 it should have a real glass crystal.
I bought my first Swatch a while back, a limited edition with Bioceramic case. I did not expect how loudly it ticks (none of my other watches, even the quartz ones can be heard at a distance) and how lightweight and insubstantial it feels. However it has their typical plastic strap which is surprisingly comfortable.
You never had a Timex on your wrist, my Mk1 is the loudest watch I ever had. But I love the little thing, the aluminum case it is so light that you can actually forget that you are wearing it
THE main reason, why I won’t get one, is the loud ticking. Thanks for the heads-up!!! Love the watch, just the ticking on the Swathes do me in. The Irony version are less ticking tbh.

Nice posting on the MoonSwatch. You touched on it exactly. The watch is a $260 plus tax watch and not a $5000 watch. It also is a fun watch (and after these last 2 years of the Corona Virus, we need some fun). There are a lot of folks on the forum that whine about how this watch is a mockery of the Speedy pro. it is not at all, it is a fun spring/summer watch that looks cool. No. The alignment problems they are speaking about cannot be adjusted by this. You can only adjust from one second to to next. But the people who are complaining have second hands that are misaligned BETWEEN seconds, so moving it by one second increments isn't going to fix the alignment problem
@@xphyle between seconds or slightly off is a VERY common low cost quartz problem. Even more expensive quartz can do that. If ppl are surprised or complaining about that then they must be new to quartz movements

@@fernandobernardo6324 No, Swatch really stands for "Second Watch". A lot of people think it is Swiss Watch but no, it is simply Second Watch. Technically, this is a quarts tachometer watch movement dressed up to look like the Omega Speedmaster. Swatch being part of Omega obviously has the rights to copy the original look. Try Pagani instead of an overpriced plastic watch(excuse me,One third of this, two thirds of that and a smidge of fairy Dust! Two hundred and sixty dollars is a lot of money!
Is there any (loud) ticking sounds like most Swatch?
I'll buy a regular swatch at Jomashop or wait until these sell there for a lot less. Great video and i hope the color is not toxic.
Omega/Swatch really should state the bezel material and “insert” situation. It concerns me in terms of the longevity of the watch 🤷♂️
Can't understand for the life of me why everyone is going crazy over a cheap plastic watch that isn't even a limited run.
Let's imagine that for instance Seiko month ago released a SEIKO 5 model made of plastic so called "biomaterial" with plastic "crystal", 50M water resistance and with quartz movement for 260 USD. How many "reviewers" would praise it and even recommended it with words "It's fun/cool watch"? Let's do this mental acrobatics please...
I am pretty sure there’s no Lunar DNA at Seiko . . .
What is the model you are using in the video?
non removable caseback, a defective movement cant be replaced or repaired. That is my only gripe so far, at least they're affordable!
The movement is non serviceable . They are disposable watches.
@@bogrot69 yes I know, just wish they were. Hoping I don't get a dud and have to deal with the whole warranty process
How long did you stand in line for this watch?
17 hours I think
@@RandomRobReviews you are a trooper!
Je l’ai eu pour 350€ hier jamais porté et nouvelle. Combien vaut-elle dans le marché ?
Are those tachymeter markings made of stickers or what?
Does it worth to pay ? is simple question...
The Best 💙💙💙
What was the name of the strap again? Is there a link? Thank you.
is the "glass" plastic ?
Check the video above !!! 😃😃
this one would be a KILLER for me if it has a black dial.
For 350€ i do a good deal ? New watch
wonder if you can whack saphire on it
Do you hear the tick of the hand?
To believe, that you might get an idea how a real Omega Moonwatch might look and feel by buying this plastic thingy, that’s beyond delusional. Go to an Omega AD. They’re usually decent human beings, in contrary to Rolex ADs. They’ll let you try one on. Or try the chinese Phylida homages, which are much closer to the originals, much cheaper AND available.
260$ is too much for what is offered here. It’s a 100$ watch and your paying the rest for the Logo.
I've always admired the oddball speedy's like the ck2998 blue, the Alaska project, the Schumacher, the Marui reduced, etc. I will get a mission to Mars one whenever they are available online.
These pieces are near perfect imo; I can get a weird/interesting Speedy for not too much, and maybe later get a more traditional speedy reduced as a luxury piece.
@@frankdux5693 Nice! The reduced does have some cool light-coloured versions like the white dial 3510.20, the panda dial Marui edition, and the funky Schumacher ones in red, yellow and blue.
Yeez dude. How many MoonSwatch videos will you make $ ?
Trust me, I am getting sick of it too. But I want to make sure people have the info
Does it tick loudly?
Ur the one who showed the color comes off, why u think ppl should buy it?
Cause they are cool. Listen, buy or don’t buy I really don’t care either way. I like them and plan to try a few of them.
Notice how the leaking color dye from the unhappy-meal toy, which created a smurf tattoo on his wrist was left out of this review?
Wait a second, how can the lume be poor when its supposed to be Super-Luminova? 🤨
From what I understand even if the lume is good quality generally the amount of layers dictates how bright it will be or how long it would stay around for after dark. So maybe it is super luminova but just super thin for cost cutting
@@irishpotatomuncher Ah that makes sense, thanks!
Did it leave blue on your wrist?
Yes for first wear, then it stopped
@@RandomRobReviews do you think theyll reconfigure it? I havent been able to get my hands on one and i want the updated version
The two types of watches I typically steer clear of, 'Hype watches' (like this one) and 'Limited Editions'. These are also the two types of watches that people will stand in line for and then flip on ebay for three times the MSRP. A 'Mission to the Moon' variant is currently selling on ebay for $3,250.00 plus $20 shipping. Good luck out there.
For many people this is a very viable entry into a casual watch, and has spread the word about Swatch and its holding companies like Omega. These will be available eventually and I think I'll buy then, despite owning a speedmaster professional myself.
You pay $20 for the watch and $240 for the word "Speedmaster" on the dial
whennnn will they be online tho? Why wait? Why let scalpers go nuts?
Hard pass for me.
What's the link for the rubber watch strap ?
are they original?
Does that come free with burger and fries? 😂
Grabfood lagi bagi hoki
Sekali transaksi diskon berkali-kali
I wish they would sale it online!
They will soon, guessing they are trying as hard as they can.
@@RandomRobReviews I hope so, really really do! Also, you floated a great idea for all the high end watches be available in this material for people to try, but be honest with you , I don’t think that it will happen… but a great idea:). Thanks for this video!
Ps, what happens if you crack the glass on it? Can you open the back plate of the watch? Or is it a solid , and only access from the back is to its battery?
@@MrMeowNow watch components are from top side only. Just battery on the back
@@RandomRobReviews so how do you replace the glass if you crack it?
Acrylic crystal at $300... Will scratch it within a week on a door knob for sure. Won't buy it.
The ticking chrono hand doesn’t even hit the indices. Where’d they get that from, Seiko? 🙄
Nope, you can get a nice mecha-Quartz from Seiko for this kind of money.
Pheiko phanboy on the mooooooon
Where is he comment on watch collaboration from ALDI AND LIDL?
Seconds hand all over the place, if it hit the markers I would buy it
Still don’t know why they insist on the general and 2 colonels at the 12 o clock
That’s the movement they have
