The training schools need to be looked at as well. As far as I know and I could be wrong but any Tom Dick or Harry can start up a training school. So now someone with a CDL and maybe no experience can “ Teach” students on how to drive a tractor trailer or straight truck. I grew up around trucks and my father drove so before I legally immigrated here from Ireland I had a good grasp on things but I still went through a school run by Millis Transfer in 98 rather than just get my CDL on my own as I wanted to learn as much as possible. Some of these driver trainers you see out here with the Mega’s have only 6 month’s experience and might not have any winter driving under their belts. I understand not everyone can be around trucks growing up and that’s why schools with experienced drivers are so important. Both my instructors had 30 years experience each and my trainer Jim came back from Vietnam and started driving with 29 years experience when he started guiding me down the road. Appreciate you bringing this subject front and center.
@@flyingpaddy7525 absolutely the schools need to be looked at. I grew up around trucks and drove trucks in the army, so I didn’t have to go to CDL school. That’s not the case for most though. There should be stricter instructor requirements.
In 2007 a NC drivers license examiner was caught selling CDLs. No written test, road test or anything. They found that he had sold 151 of them. But how many slipped through. And how many others are doing it just a few times and getting away with it?
Totally agree with you 💯% the main one of "social media" is "trucking with Tay" he has been bragging about how much money he makes on all his video, and now both of his trucks are broken and he's driving for someone 😂😂
@@chuckyf-u2395 lol I like trucking with Tay but you’re right. I first started watching his videos during Covid and one video he gave his wife a large amount of money in cash to pay her car off. I think it was $13,000-$16,000. I cringed and said to myself I hope he knows what he’s doing because he might need that money later on. I think a lot of people come into this industry from making $35,000-$45,000 to making $65,000-$75,000 and they really think that’s a lot of money. It is compared to what they were making before, but in the grand scheme of things it’s not a lot. I think he over extended himself with the new house, cars and helping out family too much. Not to say you shouldn’t help family, but you can’t put yourself in a bind because of it. I think he will recover, learn some valuable lessons and be a better person and business owner because of it.
