Gotta say, the sapphire steel player Justin was a pure joy to watch. You can tell he just loves the game and has such an amazing attitude. I must try to channel this when going against decks I dislike 😂
@@FPSMadness He sang sudden chill with bucky, if he sang it with beast he would have even less damage, could you explain it again? From what I see he played it perfectly and was just 1 damage short
@FPSMadness yes but even a table judge should have caught it. At high level and on stream mistakes are understandable but for the table judge or commentators watching not catching it and trying to insure a correct and fair gamestate is just not acceptable.
Im new so i might be misunderstanding the rules however in game 2 of jerome v justin the commentators say jeromes out is to discard his whole hand. But even if he did that couldn't he quest with tomatoa, play dime, use dime for 5, quest with ariel for 5 and still win?
Yeah, taking out the Tamatoa was implied and needed too, Jerome worked out how to discard the 4 card hand and forgot to take out the Tamatoa with Beast, Tink & Bucky throwing the game.
Can you explain me why at 3:26:48 Justin don’t just take down a robin + a Bucky with 2 cloak mickey and fire cannon, then quest with 1 clock and use sphere on mickey ?
I was puzzled at first and the answer is simple : commentators misunderstood the play, they kept on commenting how shifting beast was a key moment except Jerome didn't shift the beast... If you go back to 3:25:07 he pays two ink for Bucky, then 5 ink for Beast, the miscommunication here is that he places it on top of its other beast, which could be interpreted as being shift. He then sings with the Beast on the bottom, the one on the top is still drying. Justin plays his pawpsicles the same way, grouping them to improve play area readability. Doing the same with Floodborn characters should be specifically forbidden in the rules, it leads to decreased readability when it should be the opposite.
At the start of Justin's turn there is 14 lore for Jerome and 10 on the table, not 8. Justin need to get rid of at least 5 points worth of lore. (14+10-5=19). One of the Bucky has Ward and is ready so its 1 worth of lore is secured, the ready Beast can be Fired but only for 2 damage, it would survive and that's also 2 secured lore. He needs to remove 5 points of lore from the exerted characters, which total 7, meaning only 2 lore can stay. The optimal willpower way of doing so would be to kill Bucky (1), one Beast (5) and one Robin (6). He would need to inflict 12 damage but can only deal 3*2 (Cogswork) + 1 (Mickey) + 2 (Fire the cannons) = 9. Since this doesn't add up he decided to quest to 19 and pass the turn.
why are the players wearing headphones? and I find it interesting, when it is your turn, you do not have to first untap all your cards before doing anything else like with MTG? Also they are all playing like speedy gonzales, I registered for the challenger in Bologna, do they expect you to play this fast?
@@ululza Yeah he did. Needed to send Beast, Bucky and tink into the crab and sing chill with other beast instead of questing and singing chill with Bucky.
That random questing in the middle of a control strategy was weird. I tend to quest last in my turn to be sure only characters that don't need to do anything else quest (excluding special cases like Flaversham, Merlins, everything before a Be Prepared etc). Had he not quested he was winning, Justin was only questing for 5 and he was able to take Ariel down next turn if he decided to quest.
Huge Misplay from Bastogne. If he goes in with beast and Tink to kill Tamatoa he wins it. Next round he goes into ariel with aladdin play the Tinker Bell from hand.
@@Cool-ve2bj It's not a choice at all. What about this makes you think that it is? These tournaments have coverage because Ravensburger/Disney view them as marketing towards their game--and when you sign up for the tournament you are also acknowledging an agreement that you may be selected to be sent to the feature match (and if you make day 2 there's a high likelihood that you will be on stream). Without open decklists, it would also give the players with teams that can scout the top tables (just walking around the play area and taking notes of which player is playing which decks) unfair advantages as well.

Commentators seem not to be able to follow the plays properly. Lots of times they just misread a play. The games itself are pretty easy to follow though. Just the commentators who are misleading or just distracting a good part of the time.
To be fair. Have just watched the same commentators on the Bologna Challenge and it was significantly better. So thumbs up for the progress! Also, Speci and LorcanaVillain really do put in the work to know the game inside and out and certainly Speci is a proficient player, no doubt. The other commentators I don’t know. I suppose it’s just long hours commenting such an entire event and therefor easy to get distracted but it’s also a time investment for people watching this stream so quality should be there. Just glad they upped their performance on the subsequent events and I am glad that people are willing to perform this job. Some nuance thus, which is mostly a good thing 😉😘

Where can we find the top 64 deck lists? Thanks for the vid!

Because then it would heavily disadvantage the players who have played on stream and shown their deck.
