The areas of the hood that are white and flaky is the failed clearcoat. If you want it to look good you need to sand off the white flaky stuff and get down to the color coat (basecoat). When clearcoat fails it delaminates from the basecoat and makes that hazy, rough, flaky looking mess. Once you get past the clearcoat it will be a different color tone and dull. Then the product you used will look much better applied over the affected area.

There was a lot of oxidized and failed clear coat that needed to be removed.

Yeah I definitely could have done more. I wanted to see what would happen if I just cleaned and applied. Still looks about 60% better but you are correct.

Hmmm, might have to try this on the wife's car. That thing needs it bad.

It does work well as long as you know what you are getting :)

This doesn’t actually work properly. It looks nice for a little while but then the underlying issue will break through and make it look like as it did.
I did my own plus my dads car, and it looked nice when I sprayed the Clearcoat after a sand, but after a month it looked like the underlying problem broke through and cracked the clear coat I had sprayed on.
The clear coat method will work if it’s not bubbly like the OPs video, where you can just see the paint, but when it’s like this, to get it to a good state, you have to repaint it in my opinion

I think you needed to sand it properly first. Secondly you should've done the job properly to the end before you finish making the video. It's very annoying, what a waste of your time and our time. Cheers Graham
