My grandmother always told me you can find a silver lining in everything if you look hard enough. Despite the colossal miscarriage of justice by letting Cosby out on a technicality, I think the silver lining is that knowing he's such a narcissist, you know its devastating for him that in his last few years he'll helplessly watch as decades of his work cementing his legacy as "America's Dad" come undone before his eyes. After he's gone, Bill knows he'll only be remembered as monster that manipulated his way to the top, thought he could do whatever he wanted, and then fell from grace. It's hardly justice, but I'll take it.

We can only hope that he’s devastated but I feel as tho he truly doesn’t believe that anyone thinks that way about him, even tho the courts corroborated the claims. As a narc, he thinks he’s still right and anyone who believes the allegations is just plain dumb. Dr. Huxtable was dope. Too bad the man who played him is and was a monster.

I remember Lisa Bonet (who played Denise on The Cosby Show) saying in an interview that Cosby was really upset at her (a grown woman at the time) for playing a part in the movie Angel Heart in which there was a nude sex scene. The fact that he had the gall to criticize her for consensually participating in an erotic movie scene while he was RAPING women...it's disgusting. I grew up with his work and it's so disturbing that he was allowed to get away with this shit for so long.

I met Cosby in 2006. I was in his hotel room with him, as I was a server in Room Service at a casino he was performing at. He completely ignored the male server who was also there (who was actually the one setting up his breakfast - I had come along just to meet Bill Cosby). He asked me to do some mental tasks around his suite for him (close the curtains, turn off some lights, move a phone that was plugged in in a wonky place). He then offered me either a large cash tip or tickets to his show that evening for my parents. I opted for the tickets. Turns out he called my mgr and asked for me to be his server in the green room for his performances, but I wasn't on the schedule, and my mgr refused to call me in. I was mad at the time (bc I thought probably could have made a LOT of $), but she probably saved me from being assaulted.

My Dad never let me watch Cosby show or any of his comedy shows. This shocked me and my sister as kids because Cosby is black and so is my Dad and my Dad always tried to encourage us to watch entertainment created by or including black people. My Dad also loved comedians and again, always encouraged us to watch comedy shows with him. So when I was about 11 (which was only in the early 2000s and my family hadn’t heard about the allegations about him yet) I asked my Dad why he was so anti Bill Cosby, he said he believed that man to creepy. He questioned how he was just so easily accepted by the World and why he was so respected and allowed to do things that were creepy, why did he have so much respect that he was allowed to get away with those kinds of things? My Dad also questioned how he was such a icon for child on TV but known to be a big womanizer off screen (to my Dad, they don’t match up and you can’t be both), he strongly believed he was using his image as a kind man and fun Dad to take advantage of women (which funny enough, he was). I asked my Dad why didn’t allow us to watch Bill Cosby when he was a big black figure and as a black Dad my Dad desperately wanted me and my sister to look up to black figures. My Dad explained that he did want us to look up Black people, but not because they were Black, but because they were good people doing the right thing. Bill Cosby is not that kind of person. My sister and I still had a big problem with our Dad for years for not allowing us to watch Bill Cosby.
My Dad rubbed it in our face a lot when we heard about the allegations. And again when Cosby was finally arrested.

His albums were my introduction to standup comedy, and certain lines have been like shorthand in my family for the past 20 years. Now when the opportunity for one of those inside jokes comes up, we just sort of look at each other sadly and move on. He represented the pinnacle of silly, harmless fun in our household, and that's been poisoned.

People will genuinely set aside everything they know and have learned about how people work to defend their idols or their bias and it's wild to watch them do it in real time.

The assumption that anybody would be willing to sleep with a celebrity at anytime AND that somebody having/had willing partners in the past means they would have "no reason" to rape is both ludicrous and a distinct misunderstanding of the psychology of perpetrators of sexual assault. It's not about sexual gratification - it's about forcing control over somebody else, about feeding their ego.

No he isn't his conviction was overturned in 2021 and was found to be completely innocent. The whole process against Cosby was a crime against justice and everyone involved should be publicly executed for what they did to Cosby. The Judge in the case campaigned on the parole he will convict Cosby in his run for the DA he lost and still refused to remove himself from the case, his wife held protests inside his courtroom and was the leader of the MeToo organization in Philly. They fabricated evidence, completely ignored his constitutional rights and rigged the jury against him.

She was very smug, and I have no doubt she knew. However, you can’t convict somebody for having a dismissive attitude. If that was the case, a lot of folks would be in jail. Nor can you convict someone just for believing they knew. You have to have evidence that they were complicit and knew of his activities. There’s no known evidence against Camille Cosby. although one of the victims did claimed that she didn’t know and was actually there when Cosby allegedly assaulted her. And who is the say Camille didn’t have her own thing on the side?! I’ve always maintained she probably was getting action herself, but anyone that’s ever seen Camille in her younger days, let’s just say I doubt she had the drug anybody to get any action.

Yes, agree. Going waaay back, to one of his comedy albums mentioning getting his wife to give him sex, even when she wasn't in the mood, implying she was never in the mood, and him saying "She's Catholic, Pope says you gotta do it!" I was a little kid and that didn't sit right. And then the Cosby show, always made him look like the smartest guy in the room, the kids stupid and the wife "the whole package, beautiful, smart, yet still, not his equal. Oh! And gosh! It was the sexist sixties, but I Spy was SO misogynistic!!! I wonder if Eartha Kitt had some stories. 🤔

@@sharonthompson672the Cosby show’s female characters (excluding the one episode extras Cosby SA’d when they weren’t on set) were also played by actresses who either got their big break with the role on that show or gained credibility with Hollywood executives for their guest role appearances to gain a more prominent role elsewhere. Cosby already had A list celebrity status for over ten years before the first Cosby show episode.
The real issue with The Cosby Show is the fact that the two writers behind the concept of that larger than life tv show (because the Cosby Show was the most popular tv show at a time where owning tvs in your residence was easy, but there were still far less entertainment tv networks for tv shows to compete against in ratings) never got anywhere near the level of credit for the show they deserved. Back in the '70s, when I was 9 or 10, we had some family friends who worked in Las Vegas hotels. They liked to name drop the celebrities they'd met and were glad to offer their opinion of them. (She's an air head; she's arrogant, he's pretty cool). When Bill Cosby's name came up the woman in the pair became visibly angry and didn't want to talk about him even though the guy seemed to like him. I thought it odd, but in retrospect, she'd clearly heard some things.

I'm sure a lot of people can agree when I say that this is the biggest celebrity scandal/fall from grace because how big he was when I grew up, what he stood for and because how big and horrible his crimes were. I'm sure the details will be done tasteful as usual regarding the victims, I've stayed away from listening to the whole story until now.
