There were always suggestions in previous versions that the grandmother was a witch, the question was which parent the grandmother was related to. There was even a joke about it in the musical. But there was rarely a doubt they were Latin.
The grandma is Morticia's mom. There was a scene in The Addams Family when Morticia took Fester to the grave to remind him of his family ancestors, and showed him the statues of 'Mama and Papa Addams', assumingly they were the late parents of Fester and Gomez. Additionally, if the grandma was the paternal mom, she couldn't had been kicked out with Gomez and his family when Fester, the oldest son and heir, was manipulated to kick his younger brother's family out. In common American usage, "Latin" is almost synonymous with Hispanic. When is the last time you heard someone of French or Romanian ancestry, being called "Latin", despite both having Latin derived languages? The term "Latin", comes not from anything to do with ancient Europe, but is short for "Latin American". Technically, Brazilians are Latin American, but people from Spain, Portugal and Italy are not "Latin", since they don't come from countries in Latin America.
That's probably why most people nowadays use latino when the origin is LatAm vs latin for Latin in general (including european countries/languages/etc).

I wonder about this Casting. Gomez in the 90’s was tall dark and handsome. Now that he’s brown you go in a completely different direction. Why? There’s tall dark and handsome brown men too.

I have no prob with Jenna Ortega, I think she's a great actress and Im sure a bright future is ahead for her, she really deserves it, but Cristina Ricci is the unique Wednesday for me❤️🔥
The way you explained it. The new series does not sound very comical. So I might be interested if I had Netflix. Will not loose any sleep if I never see the series though!!
I enjoyed the show but I don't buy that anyone likes Wednesday at all, especially romantically. She's an absolute jerk to everyone around her. Some of them even get seriously physically injured directly because of her. It's a stretch that anyone wouldn't hate her let alone actually like her.
Jenna's portrayal of Wednesday is actually the most ethnically accurate version of her. Wednesday is of Latin decent in every version of the family. I dig it. 😎
I really wish you people would just stop acting like you know what a Hispanic person should look like. Hispanic countries’ populations are Spanish influenced. There white and brown Spaniards. So, a blonde- or brown-haired Mexican, Colombian or Puerto Rican would not be unheard of. Also, to say that Raul Julia’s ethnicity is ambiguous is just ignorant. First, as a Hispanic, he definitely looks Spanish, so a black-haired, brown-haired or blonde-haired Gomez would’ve been appropriate. You should just stop speaking about race. It makes you all look like bigots.
Huh, okay, was this a Video about pointing out the differences between Wednesday and the Addams Family Franchise or just between Wednesday and The Addams Family Movies?
Wednesday meets Twilight . I don't like it a bit. They messed up with this one. If you are all wondering why , watch the first TV series from the 60'. I don't get it why Wednesday needs to be a quirky sorcerer. In the original series, the whole family was kind and sweet but unusual, they loved everyone and tried to make everyone love them. They made Wednesday quirky, Morticia a criminal, etc I am disappointed, the 90' movie was a lot better than this, but again, what did I expect from a Netflix adaptation XD
This list contained way too much cringe identity politics. I didn't care that she was Spanish, but why do you feel the need to celebrate "diversity" and use the super cringe term "Latinx" which no Latino would use because it goes against the rules of their language. Then you celebrate the possibly Wednesday and the Wolf Girl could be a couple. Do you really feel the need to push "the message" when and where it is not needed or desired?
This all makes me appreciate what an amazing job Christina Ricci did at 10. She understood the character so well and hit a home run for child acting.

I have no prob with Jenna Ortega, I think she's a great actress and Im sure a bright future is ahead for her, she really deserves it, but Cristina Ricci is the unique Wednesday for me❤️🔥
Ricci is definitely aging well BUT there's no way you could make her look like a 15 year old girl... it wouldn't have worked from that perspective
Agreed
The way you explained it. The new series does not sound very comical. So I might be interested if I had Netflix. Will not loose any sleep if I never see the series though!!
It really is one of the best shows Netflix has put out
When they showed Wednesday dad, I was like "Mikey from Shameless!"
This youtube video sounds like it was written by an AI
Enid reminded me of a puppy that wanted her head scratched. She was perfect for the role.
Don’t understand why people ship wednesday with enid I don’t even see any chemistry between them. Love her with tyler even If he was the villain.
*U REALIZE CHRISTINA RICCI ARE STILL ON WEDNESDAY*
I enjoyed the show but I don't buy that anyone likes Wednesday at all, especially romantically. She's an absolute jerk to everyone around her. Some of them even get seriously physically injured directly because of her. It's a stretch that anyone wouldn't hate her let alone actually like her.
BUT ... by the last episodes the whole Nightshade group rallies around her, and the whole school sees she saved them. Re-watch the last episode.
@@philippdaphiladelphia4440 for no actual reason other than the plot needs it to happen. Why would any of them have reason to like her at that point?
@@maxpiemuse9584 Because she save their lives, individually, and collectively?!?
3:20 "kinda charming, if ure twisted enough"
yes, yes I am
THIS JUST IN!!!!!!
Wednesday is older than Pugsley!!!!!!
Am I the only one that got a Nero vibe when she was playing her cello while the statue burned?
She did name her pet scorpion Nero, and it was a very fiddle while Rome burned moment
@@beesknees947 So the myth goes. The history is a bit different. And a cello isn't a fiddle.
🦂
@@philippdaphiladelphia4440 and a fictional town ain't Rome.
IT'S 4 AM and you show the Hyde?!
Not a swim team, water polo is a sport.
actors from the netflix show are 1000% on point, they match way better than the og ones, the clothing on wednesday, the haistyle.. way better
Number 1 difference is Wednesday grew up. Obviously, she takes after Morticia.
Jenna's portrayal of Wednesday is actually the most ethnically accurate version of her. Wednesday is of Latin decent in every version of the family. I dig it. 😎
No she's not. Sorry
Christina is the best
The events from the first Addams Family movie are canon to the Wednesday series.
I’ve seen Wednesday and it’s good I watched the whole series in two days lol
Huh, okay, was this a Video about pointing out the differences between Wednesday and the Addams Family Franchise or just between Wednesday and The Addams Family Movies?
wednesday 1991 will come back
LoV the new show
Am I the only one who realizes every episode in Wednesday has the word woe in it?
so many versions though
Take a shot each time this grammar school drop-out narrator says "iconic", and you might pass out before being able to hit thumbs down.
you forgot the epic dancing scene!!!
They made Wednesday quirky, Morticia a criminal, etc
I am disappointed, the 90' movie was a lot better than this, but again, what did I expect from a Netflix adaptation XD
2:37 Harley? XD
"so glad that dude lost a testicle"
Aw hell nah he ain't no dude no more💀
Not a girl either
Testicles don't define what makes "dudes".
The boy who plays Pugsley in Wednesday sort of resembles a young Raul Julia
The new Gomez is totally in the wrong role.
Relationship goals, am i right ? Lmfaooo
I keep getting a picture of Rodimus from the movie Waiting.
"This is a little game we play"
Don't forget to snap twice? Don't tell Thanos that.
