No. It has only been an oligarchy since 70s or 80s. Yes, before that there already was the super rich but the government was still able to put them on a leash. It was already considered OLD news back in 2014, all that study did was try to make as much of a logical approach to the matter as possible, to prove what anyone with any sense already knew was true. The fact of the matter is that the US sold its democracy away under the Reagan administration of the 1980s. Also personally, I think it is more accurate to call the US a corpocracy, rather than an oligarchy, as it's more the interests of businesses, for the sake of business at work, than just the interests of a small number of rich individuals. There's also the matter of how under Reagan the classification of a corporation was changed to regard a corporation a person under the law.

It's sad to me that everyone is bashing Biden. He served his country almost his entire life, overcoming unimaginable personal tragedies along the way. His main crime, it would seem, was growing old. He deserves compassion and respect. Every joke at his expense only strengthens the hapless, self-centered, dangerous administration that is about to come. I don't know what he did right or wrong over the years, but I do believe he is a good man at heart. That said, Bernie Sanders has been right forever.
He funded a genocide for over a year, didnt deliver on many campaign promises or even attempt them, he snuffed out Bernie with the help of the oligarchs he now meaninglessly wags a finger at. We're not moving toward an oligarchy. We have officially BEEN one since 2014, since a study by Princeton University Prof Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Prof Benjamin I Page analysed all the prerequisites for the existence of an oligarchy and found the States checked all the boxes. Now it's only a question of just how far that divide grows between a few rich dudes pulling the strings and all the rest of us being jerked around by them...
Read something in an alt history short story once. Super summary goes something like : Seems a parallel to human "nature" that any Oligarchy founded on or somehow metastisizing out from its Democratic host will inevitably destroy the host before turning upon itself (as with all the "coincidences" that constantly happen in Old Rus, for instance). A truly intelligent & self-respecting Democratic populace would have excised the malignant growth - but perhaps these people were always a captive & complacent audience, too absorbed with their own idols & differences to realize the nature of the beast amidst their nation?

Yeah. Except since oligarchs are NEVER stuck in second gear, you know that they WON'T be there for each other for very long...as soon as the rain starts to pour, it's every oligarch for themselves...
