    It has become a culture to praise children at home plus school and higher ups at work place. It spoils emaan of our children and causes corruption at institutes. Respect and Dua are the best thing we can do for each other, both are recommended by our Holy Prophet peace be upon him and have long lasting positive impact on someone life and after.

    You are correct we can do both in life. We do say Alhamdulilla all the time. So, thanking and praising eah other is fine but we need to teach our children to say Alhamdulilla before praising or thanking each other.

    So true, being a teacher myself, teaching previously in Pakistan and now in the UK in early years sector, we do focus on letting child know that they are doing their best rather telling them that thery are the best. Best practice is to praise the child for their effort rather the end result. The moment you as parent or caregiver praise the child, they stop learning and putting effort. Excellent video and rest of your videos are really informative. 👍🏼

    Jazakallah khayr. Very important discussion. The first thing that the tile brought to my mind was how praise could be dangerous when "praise your child" is the maxim of the day.
    What I gathered from the talk is there's a difference between تعریف and تشکر or اعتراف, albeit very slight and difficult to tell. Maybe this distinction is the tough task.
    Please add to my understanding if I missed something.

    There is a difference between appreciation and praise. Good work DOES require appreciation and children do need encouragement when they do good things.

    Sir, are you a child psychologist? a child behaviourist? Have you done any research in this field? Science says we should praise children's good actions, and encourage them when they fail, instead of beating them and making them feel like failures. This is needed to increase their confidence, you're telling us to not praise children. This is why most Pakistanis don't have confidence because of this kind of unscientific advice sir. With all due respect.

    • @Snailryder
      @Snailryder 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He is just advising against western form of excess praise where kid becomes bigheaded, expects praise, thinks all his kamalaat are from his ownself...there is no harm in thanking children for their good actions, making dua for em and saying mashallah, look what abilities Allah has blessed you with, etc.
      A high level Muslim would hate to be praised to the face, although it is natural to enjoy praise. Like he said, it is like knowing white sugar is bad for you, despite liking the taste.

    • @AbaseenPodcast
      @AbaseenPodcast 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Snailryder OK, so he could have called it "undeserved praise" instead of a clickbaity title like that. AFAIK, most western countries are doing way better than any Muslim country sir as far as bringing up their children. Maybe that's one reason millions of Muslims try every year to enter western countries by hook or crook. Children feed off praise and to say one shouldn't praise them just sounds wrong. Actually a lot of behavioural psychologists say one should ignore bad behaviour and only praise when children engage in good behavior. Undue praise may be uncalled for. I agree. And I don't see this as a "Muslim" vs "non Muslim" children issue, Children are children.

    • @Snailryder
      @Snailryder 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AbaseenPodcast Have you watched the full video? Everything is explained fully.
      Firstly, it is an erroneous perception that children are brought up better in Western countries...just ask anybody who teaches in a state secondary in the UK or lives in a working class housing estate, where teenagers are unruly, disrespectful and even physically intimidate and attack teachers and neighbours!
      Secondly, the reason for migration to Western countries is due to poverty, economic deprivation and mismanagement of resources in their home countries, and perhaps an image from media/Hollywood portraying life in Europe or the US to be luxurious - nothing to do with kids...
      Finally, this video is about the Prophetic way of raising children, not Muslim vs Non-Muslim. Children should be given positive feedback in the RIGHT way, which does not create big egos or expectations of constant praise. The Prophet SAW had a beautiful character and loved children, treating them with kindness and compassiom, but also provided us with a balance and a framework so that we do not spoil them in the blindness of unconditional love.
      Again, I suggest you listen to the full video then make your judgement...

    • @Farhan-ft5mo
      @Farhan-ft5mo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Snailryder I guess the point is that children shouldn't be overly praised to the point that they develop arrogance and start demanding praise for petty things. And when they do something wrong they should be corrected. There were times in the Sunnah of the Prophet (S. A.W) that companions were praised for their actions so they are motivated to do even better. It's just undeserving praise which Islam teaches us to avoid.
