  • After consulting with my sister Ruthie, a long time weaver, an old leClerc loom in dire need of repairs was purchased and brought home to California. Using the camera on my tablet and Skype (long before Zoom), Ruthie and I communicated long distance to assess solutions to the many problems the loom had.
One of the larger questions was whether or not holes should be drilled through the beams to replace the old, worn-out systems with a newer, more accurate-to-measure method of wrapping warp and finished weaving onto their respective beams. This meant discarding the old worn out cloth apron and replacing it with Tech Solve cord. There are pros and cons to this, but in the end, the apron went away.
My grandson assisted in the fun part of exploring how the loom was made and my son, a house builder, assisted greatly with making the project a success.
