R.I.P. Macbook Air | Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro Review (14-Inch)

- Reviewing Samsung's Galaxy Book 4 Pro, a 14-inch Intel Core Ultra 7 laptop and one of the best 2024 releases if you want a balance of portability and power. I've been testing the gaming chops, video editing skills and battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro this past week and it's easily a Macbook Air alternative. Frequent travellers who need a capable laptop for creative tasks should be happy with that Core Ultra 7 performance. Photo editing is a breeze and video editing was also smooth, as long as you don't want to combine two or more 4K videos into a single stream. The Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro also boasts upgraded battery life vs the 3 Pro from last year.
Besides that, this is an incremental update for sure. The Dynamic AMOLED screen is another stunner and Samsung's stereo speaker setup is respectable for enjoying videos or games. Speaking of games, you can blaze through the likes of Resident Evil 3 and Forza Horizons at the 2880x1800 resolution with a smooth frame rate on the Galaxy Book 4 Pro. Although I had to scale back the RE3 graphics a little to keep things fluid at all times.

that chrome youtube slow response was because of a potential ad blocker u might be using not the laptop itself
yup, I believe its the ADblock (ADB) extension that throttles TH-cam and can't believe they haven't fixed it yet considering its what most use since its the first that comes up, unfortunately. uBlock origin is the better choice
ppl that dont use ublock origin deserve it tbf for opting for adblockers that sold out to advertising companies
YT has had some issues the past few days as well.
I have firefox with ublock origin and adblock plus. Never seen a ad my life after that

@@Cybertron667 Unless someone absolutely needs the S Pen and the 360 hinge (most people definitely dont), thats pretty bad advice. Galaxy Book 4 Pro non 360 is the same exact laptop except $150 cheaper

I bought Book 4 pro 360 1TB, 16" last week. I am impressed.
They corrected all the mistakes in book 3 360.
The screen has no glare, very clear and sharp.
2. It doesn't catch any fingerprints
3.Hinge is very solid and screen is not wobbly.
4. The body is hard not plastic.
The design is very similar to MacBook pro M2 in a lot of ways.
Add to them 1TB of memory, Tablet mode, touch screen, 16 GB ram, S pen
+ Free samsung S9 fe on preorder.
Battery performance is solid, but of course not comparable to apple's.
Not regretting it so far. Will go for it again.

Are you able to compare battery to the last generation?
How is the touchpad compared to macbook? Apple has always been superior in trackpads.

Hey man can u let us know the fps u observed on these games? Many reddit users including us are not able to find proper gaming tests on the entire book 4 series. Also testing live fps games like valorant would help us out a lot. I am stuck on a crucial decision amongst this and the m3 macbook air

heads up. when you was playing RA the screen refresh was set at 24 for some reason. hence why you were getting such horrid frame rates in that game!

I would really like to see a more comprehensive battery life comparison with a MacBook Air.
This would be really good to see. I am not expecting it to outperform the Macbook, but it would be interesting to see if they're even close.

Would have been nice to talk about the relative value of this laptop. It seems horribly expensive for what it is, but thats the way of a lot of laptops these days. How does it compare value-wise to similar laptops? Id have thought it was very low value.

Any weirdness in the trackpad if you move the curser and stop for a moment without picking up and when you start to make small movement from the still position the curser delays in moving? SUPER frustrating in the GB3 Ultra. Thanks!

Finally touch support on the 14 inch and no Screen door effect or moire effect on the displays!!! Do you find the fan sound annoying ?
Coming from a Dell Latitude 5431 (i7 1260P), I can say the fans are much quieter on this device, even now with 10 tabs and 3 apps running, it's a tiny bit warm, but no fan noise.

I think Samsung laptops have an option for silent fan noise. But it cuts performance ( idk how much )

Does anyone have idea whether we can expect Book 4 Pro 360 with 32GB Ram variant? Feels like as it is soldered Ram might as well go for 32GB to be more futureproof.
It looks almost identical to my 2021 Zenbook 14. 😄 (except for the aerolift of the Asus)
I think we have the same zenbook! I look at these reviews but I really don't have a reason to upgrade to another Ultrabook. Especially because the Intel graphics chipset is not as good as the AMD in my laptop.
