Maybe promote remote tuning some more. Its easy money that doesn't cost you anything but a few hours of time on your own schedule.

Man I’m so sorry your car took a crap on you. Just sent you a little bit on PayPal and I hope more of your subscribers do the same. The knowledge and experience you share in your videos is worth every dollar we can send you. You always take the time to answer all my questions and respond to all of my comments. I’m more than happy to support you so that you can keep the videos coming.

You had to pay twice??? What the hell!? For their f***-up? What is that POS workshop you sent your car to? That should have been their problem and their expence for sure. Warranty for the job. Consult UK's Consumer Protection.

If half of us subscribers sent Rawcat just even $1 on paypal, he'd be covered on his car repairs. Just think about how much you learned, how much time and money you saved from these videos, and how much work he puts in to give us a free car audio education.

Sorry about your car troubles. I believe Vauxhall is owned by GM and sell rebranded Chevrolets, which aren't very good cars. If you can, try to buy a Toyota or a Honda....they won't let you down.

That's a bummer, but if the car has been paid off for a while and you haven't been making payments it's not too bad to have to pay 1,400 every few year to keep it going. It's the unexpectedness that sucks.

My pick up truck had blown radiator a month ago, a shop told me I had blown head gaskets. Almost financed 3k to fix but luckily I got second opinion and realized it was just radiator $500… mechanics can be sketchy.. but I understand your stress and frustration friend..

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

While I find that most auto mechanics are honest, hard-working people, there are obviously plenty of shady mechanics and/or the shop owners themselves who "call the shots", and the thought did cross my mind that his "owner's supplied part" was an excuse and an opportunity for the shop to claim that the supplied part was at fault.
Realistically, unless the gasket was really old and potentially deteriorated (highly unlikely), and/or it was not carefully inspected BEFORE installing it (should be a no-brainer & common practice by any reputable mechanic!), the thought did cross my mind that the "customer-supplied part" was an excuse and opportunity for the mechanic or shop to claim that the gasket was faulty and that the work needed to be completely redone with a new gasket, when in reality, neither a new gasket was installed, nor the additional work was done.
It definitely wouldn't be the first time something like this happened, and unfortunately in these times I feel that it's just becoming more and more common.
If and when I do supply a part to a shop to be used in a repair/replacement, I make sure to only supply OEM parts, even if they are more expensive, as they cannot be "questioned" or claimed as being the "problem", as opposed to a 3rd party aftermarket part that can be claimed as "not being to OEM specs or quality".
Nerjius, did the mechanic show you the faulty gasket and WHY it failed, and/or give it back to you?
As a former auto mechanic myself, I've learned to request that ANY original parts that are replaced be kept and NOT discarded until AFTER they have been shown to me and/or returned to me.
And even with that specific request up front IN WRITING on the Estimate/Quote, upon picking up the vehicle, a few times the shop said, "Oh, sorry, we forget about that and already tossed them".
Well, they'll be sure to receive an appropriate and very detailed review from me on SM and the car enthusiast forums, as well as never receive any repeat business for me, or any recommendations.
IF a new gasket and the extra work actually did have to be redone on Nerijus' car, I'm guessing that the mechanic simply didn't get the gasket seated properly or used an improper procedure, and it was damaged in the process, or the bolts were not torqued to spec and were inaccessible once everything else was back in place.
I hope this wasn't the case, but it's certainly a possibility.

I also have two sisters, and when they were both younger and single, repair shops repeatedly tried to take advantage of their gullibility and inexperience and scam them for unnecessary repairs and maintenance after I had already inspected their car and noted the exact issues that needed to be addressed.
Luckily they always called me before moving forward with any of the work that the shop claimed needed to be done!
Obviously additional problems can be found only after the car is apart, but in these particular instances that was not the case.
So I feel really bad for young and/or single women who need auto repair/maintenance work done, but don't know someone with legit mechanical/automotive knowledge and experience that they can trust for a second opinion.
As a side note, one of my sisters was NOT good at driving MT vehicles, especially in regards to operating the clutch.
When she was going to uni/college she bought a brand new MT Subaru, and over the 6 years she owned that vehicle, I replaced the Clutch THREE different times, and the driver's side front CVJ axle once as well (a somewhat common issue with these).
Luckily those cars were very easy to work on and the parts were relatively inexpensive at that time, but I still saved her a crap-load of $$$ on the labour.
Finding a good, trustworthy auto mechanic these days is difficult (always has been), and when you do, they are worth their weight in gold!

This is my number one fear for starting the build in my Golf... I really wanna sound deaden/ proof like crazy and go active 3-way but IDK if I wanna put all that money into this exact car... Worried about issues such as these or it getting totaled etc. Selling it with all those modifications would suck too cause you can't get your mlv back. If it is cheaper stuff it wouldn't matter but going with expensive stuff would hurt.
IDK I'm just gonna throw the silver flutes and 3FE22s in and see how good it is. I do have some cheap deadening I could use I guess 🤔
    Better than nothing
TL;DR: sucks what happened mang, unfortunately that's cars... Hope ya figure it out!

    @RAW-CAt
OUCH !!! I feel you, Nerijus! Yeah, unexpected or surprise expenses and financial burdens like this can be frustrating and very stressful, especially for a young family.
Not that it's going to help you, but I think most of us have "been there" at some point in our life...probably more than once.
I'm older now and am much more fancially stable and "well off", but recently my better half's car was due for all new tires + rear shocks. I always choose good quality tires & shocks for my vehicles, but these were nothing exotic or special.
And while it wasn't really an "unexpected" expense, it was a bit more than expected at $1800 USD all said & done. And it obviously wasn't even a mechanical issue that HAD to be fixed in order for the car to be driveable!
So just like everything else these days, even the cost of basic tyres and auto parts have gone WAY up, not to mention the cost of labour.
Then, just after getting the new tyres & shocks done, I was up on the roof cleaning out the rain gutters and noticed that the roof on our house was going to need to be replaced at some point in the near future. :/
Again, it wasn't completely unexpected as we built the house in 1999, and most roofing products are guaranteed for either 20/25/30 years. But again, it was WAY more costly than it would've been just 5 years ago...
So, I just wrote a cheque for over $32k USD for the new roof! It's beautiful and now the house is 100% protected in that regard, but we could've gone on a VERY NICE & VERY LONG European AND Tropical holiday with that, or installed a "fairly decent" fully custom high-end car audio system, or purchased a fully upgraded kick@ss high-end home HiFi or Home Theatre system!
I'm probably going to replace the front disc brakes and install new wheel bearings myself now, which is next up on the list for that car, even if I have to take the front disc rotors to a shop to be "turned"/resurfaced and have the new bearings and CVJ axles pressed into the housings.
So, I've got some of my old school car audio stash up for sale as well now, mate! 😛
Realistically, it was time to clear out the closets of all this gear that I realized I'm not ever going to actually use anyway, and it's not really not improving my quality of life by sitting on the shelf collecting dust while someone else could make good use of it and enjoy it on a daily basis.
All to say that, unfortunately, the cost of living just decently these days is simply CRAZY, and I can't imagine the cost to raise a kid or two now! So again, "I Feel You, Mate"!
Hang in there and try to keep positive and enjoy the things you DO have and your amazing family!
Needless to say, life could be MUCH worse...we could be living in Ukraine or in another war-torn or conflict-ridden area where we might lose EVERYTHING we've ever worked for, including our homes, businesses or jobs, or the lives of our own family and friends.
Live long and prosper. 🖖 ✌
