I also have the m51 in an e34 and it appears that mine is the same colour as yours... BMW Fjördgrau metallic :) . I did/ am doing the same thing and documented everything on my youtube channel.
I'm fully aware of it. Keep going; you rock. the e34 has been called an "elegant bandit". I can't come up with a better description. The e34 is also prime "Industriegeschichte." (industrial history) "Fjordgrau metallic" isn't a particularly widespread color, but looks particularly classy with silver rims, I find.
