VW/Audi EA888 gen3 engines, before 2015 did the same thing to the rocker arms. Chain would stretch, intake cam would jump time, bend all 8 intake valves and break all 8 rocker arms. The replacement rockers are the larger ones from the gen 1 and 2 engines.
Just feeling if the head has scratches or is bent with your finger is not a great way to check right? I saw people in videos use a long straight bar across the head and then look for gaps between the long bar and head to see if it is warped/bent
love these vids man one easy thing to improve is the light flickering, for example at 8:10 but it runs through the whole video. there should be a setting in your camera app that's called "Anti Banding" or something similar. Setting this to 50hz, as you are located in Norway, should fix the flickering keep it up man
If you want to reduce the flickering in the videos, take the whole video while editing, clone the footage into a second timeline, offset the cloned video by 1 frame and set the opacity to 50%!
Yeah i would of done it, but the previous owner replaced the chain at the workshop like 5k km before the engine failure, so that’s why I don’t waste any money and just kept the same one (i had domumentation from the workshop)
Subscribed on first video, now like and share every new video :) Keep it filming, keep it wrenching, you can also do selling projects to make some more money to get more content for yt :)
Love the video. How much did you pay for such a low mileage example if you don't mind me asking. As a fellow N43 owner(320i e90lci) this engine runs absolutely beautifully when running properly, the key thing to it is maintenance, maintenance and maintenance.
This video was a while ago, n43 doesn’t have a problem with rod bearings, but it does often have a problem with oil pressure, which then causes the spun bearings etc.
Unwatchable? Most people grew up watching 50-60hz flickering tvs. It is annoying but I didn’t notice it after a while. He won’t be at m539 production levels when he’s just starting out but quality will obviously improve in time.
Listen dude. First of all. Respect. Then. Your channel has a huge potential if looked throught the lens of the M539 channel. Streten doesn't do diesel engine...and that's where you can find your nich. Good luck.
Great video. The cause is most likely timing chain failure, the more modern german cars engineer their engines in a way in which when chain fails/snaps the force goes upwards causing the tappets, lobes etc to break rather than damage to the pistons/valves In most cases it works but like i found out last week on a mercedes 2018 E220… tried to save the customer some money as i seen his broken tappets and rocker arms, usually replace it all and time the engine and thats it, we try keep our customers costs to the minimum so foolishly told him the bottom end was okay… long story short the car started with a misfire cylinder 4, turns out one piston had damaged the valves in cyl4.
As i may have mentioned, in most cases you just need to rebuilt the top end, rocker arms etc… however in some certain cases ( which i personally believe ) if the chain snaps at high speed like the E220 I did, the damage does go the bottom end too. ( thankfully it was only 1 cylinder, 4 damaged valves needed replacing and just some simple machining. The engineering idea is great, id much rather repair the top end of an engine than the bottom
You should have dom a leakdown test before you took apart the engine. That way you would get some indikation if the piston rings are worn out, ore valves leaks. Just a tip for the next time😉 from a fellow hobby mekaniker 🇳🇴
I won't get enough sleep now, but it was worth it for this beautiful masterpiece of a video!
Can see your channel growing and growing. Really enjoyed the last two videos I’ve seen so will continue to watch. Keep at it man!
Thank you, working on it😊✌️

Thats very intresting, this whole project was a big mistery from the start😂
I recently found your channel, and I can't stop watching the videos!! Keep grinding my guy, you gonna have a bright future!! Greetings from Hungary!

Yes I did that too👍
The next m539 restorations
love these vids man

Thanks man, it was flickering badly in this video because I was using 60 fps, after when I started using 30, the flickering got a lot better
@@EMSGARAGEE61 i get it, and if you want to make 60fps content in the future you can using that trick
already very much love your stuff bro, regardless the quality. its only gonna get better !
Un grand bravo pour votre vidéo continue quand-même très intéressant tes vidéos
nice, keep up the good work 👍
great vid, great channel-thumbs up. but when you are already on that stuff, change also the chain!

Thanks, i payed 13k krones, that is around 1.1k euro, yeah i have had a few of these and they Are quite all right if you take care of them
N43 has rod baring problems ? Never heard of that

Fix lights please. Video is un watchable because of flickering

@@bimmernath easy fix adjusting exposure in camera settings. not that serious.

Thank you very much my friend😊I am working on it, big video dropping soon on a diesel engine😊

Thanks. But then do you need to fully rebuild the heads or is it enough to just replace and lap the valves?
As i may have mentioned, in most cases you just need to rebuilt the top end, rocker arms etc… however in some certain cases ( which i personally believe ) if the chain snaps at high speed like the E220

What is the engine name of this car? Is it N43B20A?
Bingo, exactly N43B20A
any 4 cylinder petrol engines are just too much maintenance
nice shorts and socks xD

@@EspenMiland ja har sett litt på det nå, lettere å indikere hvor kompresjonen går, skal huske den 🤝
What you actually paid for this! In my country we scrap this car not even worth fixing this is throw away car break for parts you make much more money
Then we wouldn’t have had this series to sit back and enjoy.
And that's why you don't use cheapass LED lights for your shop. That flickering is horrible and the video is unwatchable.
That is not the reason, the reason is 60 fps and this video is over 1 year old
Nå vet jeg hvor jeg kan dra med den jævla dritten av en n43 jeg har😂
👌👌👌👌
