I don't know the exact rules in this kind of situations, but I think umpires are allowed to use some critical thinking and common sense while making calls. As in this play, its true that Nadal put the ball back in play succesfully, but right after he stopped the play, still before chair umpire had called it out. So once you stop the play the point is given away right? In my opinion its great awareness from the umpire to give the point to Berdych since Nadal stopped the play before the call was made. If Nadal let the ball go and then the call came late, it would have been Berdych point anyways, right? So in this situation Nadal stopping the play right after putting the ball back in play can be compared to him just letting the ball go, hence giving Berdych the point since the shot was in. Not the exact same situation but something similar happened when Carreno-Busta played Nishikori in AO 2019. would have been nice to have some captions on nadal's confrontation
Kyrios caught lying on tape; maybe a good tennis player but a thoroughly unpleasant human.
He’s not that great a player either. He’s lazy and makes excuses
That is by far the most pissed off I’ve seen Federer with an umpire
Go see us open final 2009 vs del Porto
Kamil Malina I’ve seen it but he doesn’t go on for as long as this. IW 2018 v del Porto is quite bad as well.
17:43 That throw hit so hard, it left the water bottle's sticker on the umpire's seat
Bernardos made a terrible call against Rafa there. He called it out after Rafa hit it in and then Berdych hit the ball out, challenged and then won the point.
The thing I can’t stand about tennis is... The players always take their frustration out on the umpires..
Damn I expected a whole video of Kyrgios
Medvedev was so out of line for that, holy shit. That’s typical bully behavior, trying to physically intimidate the umpire.
What do you expect from a POS Russian national?
Nick's chair incident should've also been included haha
I feel so happy and proud for this cute young redhair line-catcher that he was right - the ball touched the line by a micron.
he was so worried that was his fault.
Eagle-eyed ginger jock!
7:51 & 8:01 those two girls at the back LOL
in the nadal one, why the hell would it not be nadal's point?? Nadal returned the ball that was called out. Nadals shot went in. And then the final shot was out
so even if that first ball was rulled "in" why would it be a point against nadal? Nadal hit it over the net anyways. makes no sense
someone explain please
Nadal challenged mid point so therefore “stopped” the point. When a player chooses to cause a break in play to make a challenge they then forfeit the point if their challenge is wrong which it was in Nadal’s case
@@justin_b. That would make sense if the play stopped when Rafa lifted his finger but the umpire made a correction call after Rafa returned the ball (ended up in the court) which interrupted play. But also, Berdych challenged the call after the correction call so if anything, the point deserved to be replayed. The way I see it the umpire was in the wrong 🤔
The poor ball girl at 9:40 😂
I think Roger was still upset because of Wimbledon, I dont blame him
None of the other Federer stans are here, so I guess I get to say it. Omg Federer is soo classy even when he fights with umpires!!!!
Lmao
LOL. Extra funny because, when he's in a really foul mood, I think he's really quite rude when dealing with the umpires. Condescending as hell.
Thank you for reminding us of what prima donnas elite tennis players are. From a distance, fans don't get to hear what an "appeal" consists of.
Djokovic: I don’t want to play anymore! 😂😂🤣🤣
19:24 McEnroe would be defaulted for that nowadays but he was just given a game penalty and he won the tournament eventually.
