- During our trip to the Clearwater Florida area, we camped at the Silver Dollar RV Resort in Odessa, FL. This is a Thousand Trails / Encore resort property that is both a golf course and trap shooting club.
We used this as our location for venturing out to nearby attractions like Tarpon Springs, Sponge Docks, Honeymoon Island and Clearwater beach.
This is a good location to camp. We were able to stay here for $20/night with full hookups, using our Thousand Trails / Encore membership.

Those bunker things with concrete in front of you used to be old trap bunkers. People used to shoot trap right behind where you’re parked. Pretty cool. Used to shoot at that place all the time
I didn't know that! They still have trap shooting in a different location. Our neighbors were competitive shooters!
Me too. My late wife & I had a double wide house on Silver Lake from 1982 until we sold it in 1999. It was a vacation home that we could come down from Massachusetts in the winter and shoot trap & fish. We moved to Pembroke Pines in 1998. My wife, God rest her soul, passed away in 2008.
How much of a noise bother is the gunfire ? Is it like camping in a war zone?
I really enjoyed this video this afternoon while researching. My wife and I have recently joined Thousand Trails and Encore. We will be starting our travel adventure this November, heading south to Florida until mid February. Then we head west towards New Mexico with stops in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and in Texas to visit family and friends. Safe travels and hope to see you on the road.
