    Great video but… however a camping pass only lets you reserve a site for 60 days max.. here in is the problem…. Most of the camping memberships let you reserve 90-120 days out. This makes it impossible for a camping pass to work because by the time you can possibly make a 60 day reservation the campground is already booked up …we were only able to reserve campsites from Tuesday until Thursday all last year. The video makes it look easy but in reality it is basically impossible..

      Where are you located. In the northeast, I rarely have problems unless it's a holiday weekend. Last year was slightly more challenging with all the new campers, but overall it wasn't too difficult for me. I have heard people say that California was harder for reservations, but I haven't been out there yet with my RV. Did you try the trails collection? Everyone has a 60 day window with that addon. However, I know many people may not want to pay extra for it. I also suggest keep trying if something isn't available as sites open up regularly as people cancel. Thanks for your feedback!

    Hi there, i just looked into Thousand Trails and then I'm sure like alot of people went looking to understand. This is hands down the best video I have found. I also am in the Northeast and am kinda bummed there isn't alot more camp areas, but I will hopefully still get to enjoy and get out of my comfort zone. Thank you

    This is WAAAAAY to simplified. Good luck getting reservations at any of these places. We may be lucky to even find one location this summer. (Southeast Region)

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia

      I noticed that weekends are more challenging, but it’s important to try and book as close to 60 days out as possible. Also, if it’s booked, keep checking daily as there are routinely cancellations. Some campground are just super popular and hard to get (in and around Hershey, PA especially)

    Great video, great information explained well. I'm considering this as a full timer. I think this is cheaper than monthly rent rates. I think to fill in the gaps for the 7 day brakes, passport America can give 50% off of daily rates. What are your thoughts on combining the two? If the two passes work at the same campground, then could you 7 day break count if you just stay there and pay the daily rates? What other passes could you recommend?

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia
      @OutdoorMilesMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you found it helpful. For full-time, you may even want to check out a new or "used" expanded membership. This can give you 3 weeks at a time, and some don't even have out weeks if you're going from campsite to campsite. However, if you go used, you can expect to spend anywhere from 3K to 4K for a decent membership. If you choose to go new, it will be quite a bit more, but you won't be able to sell it in the future. Regardless, you will still need to get the annual camping pass, so it's good to start there and try it out. Also, your idea of Passport America is a good choice to complement the Thousand Trails Pass. There are also several other membership programs to check out. Here's an article that lists some of them. You can also download the free e-book for more details: outdoormiles.com/rv-and-camping-money-saving-tips/#camping-membership-programs. Good luck, and let us know what you do. I'm also going to put out some more Thousand Trails youtube content if you want to subscribe.

      @@OutdoorMilesMedia I'd be happy to subscribe. I enjoy learning about the ins and outs of rving. My wife, myself, and our young family are traveling for work. If we can save money on rent, that's huge. I enjoyed how you sat down to explain everything about the basic membership. It felt like we were chatting over coffee. Very nice job. I'll be looking forward to your continued info on thousand trails. The folks you mentioned at the end of the video offer used memberships?

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia
      @OutdoorMilesMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great! They don’t sell used, only new. You can find used ones on Facebook at times, but a good place to start is to contact the campground membership outlet. It’s run by another couple who deal in just used memberships. They can tell you everything you want to know and don’t charge any fees or inflate prices from sellers. It’s a win-win for everyone. There are a ton of old membership types, so it’s helpful to talk with someone who can help you sort through them and understand the differences and limitations. www.campgroundmembershipoutlet.com/

    Great video. One thing I've heard that I am curious about is when you make a reservation you aren't reserving a specific site. You basically show up to the campground, find an open site and then register for that site. Is that how it works and does the Thousand Trails campgrounds also work that way?

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia
      @OutdoorMilesMedia  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! For the most part, it’s usually first come first served. However, some parks may pre assign a site, but that has been less common for me. Now, many campgrounds will try to get you scheduled for the electric hookup you need, if they have options.

    Hi, I have a question about the usage model for a sequence of 4 consecutive days in each camp without interruption. If I booked, for example, 4+4+4+4 days in 4 different camps, but in practice, I arrived a day late to the second camp, and I had to leave the third camp a day before the end (and I slept a night at Walmart before the fourth camp), does this comply with the 4-day sequence rule?

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia
      @OutdoorMilesMedia  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You will need to arrive on the day of check-in, but most parks are okay if you have to leave early. You can always book less than 4 days and not need to take the week out. For example, you can book 3-4-4-3 and still be fine.

    Is there an error in your graphic at the 7:46 mark? It indicates 14 nights- 7 day break-14 nights - (14 day break)-14 nights. I think you meant 7 day break. Otherwise, great video.

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia

    Hi, my wife was going to purchase an annual camping pass, and I was going to purchase a separate one, so we wouldn't have to wait 7 days. We called Thousand Trails and discussed this. They said if we got caught doing that, both memberships would be canceled, even though there's apparently no official rule governing that. Are you aware of this?

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia
      @OutdoorMilesMedia  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes- I’ve heard this before with the camping pass. I never heard of someone trying to do it with the cabin pass, but my assumption was that they wouldn’t allow it this way either. Personally, I think it’s a dumb rule for the way you want to do it. Thousand Trails should allow both to be used independently, especially with the high price tag of the cabin pass. Best of luck and hopefully they will reconsider the rules in the future.

    Can you go 14 days to one TT, then 14 days to a Trails collection park, then 14 days to a TT park repeatedly?

    • @OutdoorMilesMedia
      @OutdoorMilesMedia  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No- you need to take a week off between each of this stays. Also remember, no matter how long you stay at a collections campground- 1 day or 14 days, you always have to take a week off afterwards. While you can go 4 days to 4days between TT parks, you can’t do that with the trails collection. After each stay, you’ll need a week off.
