In reference to his statement about slow motion training. It is one of THE best training methods for mechanics you can’t quite catch the hang of.
I used that method to learn flip resets, chain dashing, and I used it as a drill for double taps as well.
Then I spend time replicating the mechanics in regular speed in freeplay. I didn’t know if other people used the method or not because maybe not many other people can learn that way. Then I saw an old Rlcs Sub Red make a video including it as part of his warmup routine.
Then I saw Jhzer mention it briefly in a video a few years ago.
I think of it like practicing for any other sport. It is beneficial to take time running plays at half speed in sports like football. That way everybody on the team can get their timing and positioning down!

This randomly popped up in my recommended and I just want to say thank you so much for this explanation... As much as I don't like shitting on Spook (I do like his content and his tutorials on other mechanics), I've been trying to learn directional air roll via his method of "turning left and right" for months and it has ended up EXACTLY as you said. I can technically do it and finish rings maps going slow enough, but by only making adjustments when the car is in that 'neutral' position which makes it completely impractical in games with a real ball and opponents. Using your twist motion and creating a reflexive 'feedback loop' makes so much more god damn sense and I can't thank you enough. Now time to try and start from scratch again this way, and try to unlearn all the bad habits I now have from the prior method...

YOOOOOOO. At 2:40 I subbed. I've been a subscriber to Spook for so many years but on all his tutorials he explicitly says ''Joystick to the right down to turn left, Joystick to the right up to turn right'' but when he does it in practice he's using different movements of his joystick so he's doing something entirely different than what's being told to us.
Your first few seconds of the video already explained the WHY on why you should air rolls, rather than just explaining the mechanic behind it and that's something I appreciate. The community could learn a lot more if they understood what they were doing and why they were doing it rather than just practicing a button input. This aint tekken ykno.
Big love, I'll continue watching the video now.

hey did you manage to develop your feedback loop? How much time did it take?

    • @Squashmalio
      @Squashmalio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@voltirussk4608 definitely getting there, probably did like 6-7 20-60 min training sessions and I went from having 0 control to being able to control where I go but just not quickly, e.g I often have to wait for my car to rotate back forward to re-orientate myself.
Honestly I went through dozens more videos/tutorials and in the end forgot them all and just started trying to figure it out, it's really a difficult thing to teach, I think the best approach for this would be teaching someone how to teach themselves, instead of trying to teach them how to do it.
Being able to control your car while aerialing in all directions helps a lot, practice flying with your car upside down and facing left and right. Then you can start practicing flying with air roll, at first just try to hover, then go forward by waiting for your car to rotate forward and tapping forward(might need to tap diagonally left or right and forward depending which way you're air-rolling, to account for rotation). You can learn to turn every direction by waiting for your car to rotate that direction and then tapping forward, then learn to do the same but by waiting for your car to be facing the opposite direction you want to go and tapping backwards, then the same for left and right. You can also start working on turning more quickly by holding/spinning your analog stick instead of just tapping once you really start to get the hang of it.
I haven't gotten all the way there yet but the goal is to be able to turn any direction precisely regardless of which way my car is facing during the rotation, and to be able to turn quickly/consistently by constantly moving the analog stick to keep up with my cars rotation and push it in the direction I want to go. Once you make the first bit of noticeable progress it gets a lot easier, because you know you're finally getting somewhere

    day 3 progress:
I am currently trying out this method or air roll left control,
I have been successful normally air rolling from goal to goal and making micro adjustments, now trying out the "lemniscate twist" from goal to goal
I noticed while doing the lemniscate twist i only really make adjustments when i see the front of my car (roof/front nose) it became easier for me to move my car from left to right while lemniscate twisting.
I messaged him and he told me not to wait for the front of my car to appear and to practice making adjustments randomly, the more uncomfortable i feel turning the faster i will learn.
I do trust him but im still wrapping my head around how exactly im supposed to "turn" my car left or right while lemniscate twisting by instinct. Im still going to put in a lot more hours to figuring it out, once i feel comfortable enough turning ill try out the training plan he has made for us. I'm guessing the whole point of this is to be able to control your car regardless of what direction it is in (front, back and side)
I believe I can easily move my car left or right while directional air rolling but theres much more to it than that. I do feel like I am generating a feedback loop where I can adjust my car upwards and move diagonally to adjust my car over the past 3 days. Soon I will try out the Kevpert training videos and hopefully get better control. I will update my progress again after a week on day 7. Thanks again Lemniscate for this amazing tutorial. I've watched other youtubers with their tutorials but couldnt really grasp the idea as well as you explained it.

I actually find the spookluke tutorial still helpful as a starting point, so I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak, but rather it's just a very incomplete tutorial. I'm still glad I learned that approach before now approaching the lemniscate way, which I am quite excited about.

Posted a comment 6 days ago.
I've been practicing for about 15 minutes daily now. I started off with a speed of 25 with the plugin and at first I couldnt even keep my car up at all. After a few minutes of just spinning my joystick around and paying attention to what my car is doing I could get past the first level. Any way 6 days forward now with an accumulated time of 1 hour practice total it somehow clicked lmao. That's why Im here because the feeling when it finally clicks is extremely freaking amazing especially as an old bag of shit who has to compete against you younger ones.
I still didnt feel too comfortable turning to the right but I said fuckit and put my speed up to 50. And thats when it really clicked, the change of pace from 25 to 50 is huge, even from 30 or 40 to 50 is a world of difference. It really feels amazing.
What really helped me though and this is such a bullshit tip for you guys since it's hard to describe how to do it but.... you kinda gotta let your subconscious mind do the work. You've gotta stop thinking about the hows and the why's and just go for it. Try to turn off your mind, almost like feeling really drunk and having no idea of what you're doing anymore, thats the state of mind you have to be in to practice this. Dont think about it, just do it.
Any way, Leminiscate, Im still a long way off but this has really helped me a lot especially in game. Im not doing the fancy aerials in game yet but for some reason I got a lot better with controlling my car in the air and doing half flips, I got really comfortable with position my car from whatever direction. Thanks so much

All control begins with the front of your hood. Even if you are looking at your tires your turning will always remain dependent on which way your car is facing. You just got really good at turn your car while it’s facing away from your before you learned how to air roll turn while the hood is facing you. You use the same method of turning no matter which direction your vehicle is moving which is pulling up on down on your stick. Air roll left does all the turn for you so you just control pitch.

Randomly I came across your video and think you misunderstood Spooks air roll left video.
The series of videos that Spook made were, as he points out, a starting block for people NOT a be all end all guide to how to air roll left. Most you tubers just say they can’t teach you how and it’s all a feel thing go work it out for yourself. This isn’t very helpful for someone with no idea how to start.
If you go into the rings map and do the adjustments spook says they do start to give you the basics of adjustments in air. All of the extra joystick movements you see are the finer movements that I think you are trying to direct people straight to with your lemisgate spin method.
And yes you have to wait for the hood of the car to come around with the basic adjustments but as he says in one of the later videos this is NOT total car control and you need to learn to adjust from any angle (as you are saying in your video) but he’s broken it down to give beginners somewhere to start.
I think you misunderstood the point of his videos but also not everyone learns the same way and there is not just one method of turning with air roll left as I’m sure you know.
Anyway, I appreciate your different take on the tutorial you have made but I think mocking other you tubers when you haven’t fully understood the point of their video is not cool.
I hope this explanation makes it clearer and I wish you all the best with your own channel and content - stay safe ✌️ peace.

@@barddz4646 Then do not even bother flying while rolling the entire time. Just roll when you hit the ball or need to make super sharp adjustments. It's the only thing where it's actually superior to not rolling at all. I mean, keep learning it if you find it fun, of course, but don't stress over including it in your actual gameplay and focus on other mechanics in order to rank up.
