      I was hoping they wouldn't. I guess Fender DEMANDED that EVERY channel that demonstrated these pedals (and that must be 90% of them) use that stupid phrase.

    JUst got 3 today. Chorus, flanger, and reverb. The chorus and reverb are on the acoustic board with a Fender Mirror Image delay. Flanger went on the electric board. So far I like them.

    Love that "unity" gain on that overdrive is fully 15-20db louder than clean lol (at least according to the db meter in the background)

    Can someone else dial in the pedals other than someone that has to comment on how he usually never likes [whatever the given pedal style is] but really likes this one and nonstop turns knobs?

    The one complaint I have about Affordable guitar pedals nowadays is that they all tend to be the same sort of things - generic drives, fuzzes, choruses, delays etc. that you can get just about anywhere and get just as high quality from a cheap MultiFx(which wasn't the case a decade or two ago). I really wish there was a line of affordable pedals designed *specifically* to do weird, interesting things. Pretty much all the cool, interesting effects are going to be more expensive boutique stuff(or the higher end of the EHX price range) and it makes me sad there's no affordable options. Something like a self tuning Ring Mod(Guess i should have picked up that Magicstomp) for example, crossover distortion, weird delays etc.
    I'm glad to see Fender putting in some little bit of effort with things like the Overdrive and Space Delay a bit at least

    • @Jeymez
      @Jeymez 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sister Rose: ya there are alot these days, the one positive i can say is you have different options to chose from. but despite the fact they all might be similar,
      Fender is kinda weak in this area. to me there bread and butter are guitars and amps,
      but when it comes to pedals they tend to be hit and miss.
      there were a couple of pedals i tried in the past that turned out ok.
      i liked a few of there reverb pedals, but when it comes to fuzz, and distortion, that's where they fall short at. every drive pedal I've ever tried from Fender always sounded fizzy, other pedals I've tried that are in a similar price range as these pedals do a better job than Fender. i get why there doing this, there trying to cash in on everything that's out there.

    Thanks for the demo. You guys are awesome and I really enjoy the channel.
    These pedals really aren’t bad for the money. I picked up the reverb and am thinking about the fuzz and chorus. Unless you’re a gigging guitarist these pedals should be more than adequate. Even if you gig some of them could be useful. Thanks to you guys for letting us hear them before we make a decision. Really appreciate what you’re doing here. You’re a great asset to the guitar and gear community.

    Some don't take batteries. I've got the space delay and you can access speed and Depth trim pots inside by taking the bottom off. No battery though. The distortion type, all the cheaper ones, pedals take batteries but the rest don't.

    The guys on That Pedal Show threw this Fender Space Delay in the mix while focusing on the comparison between the Strymon El Capistan(both V1& V2) and a Roland RE-201 Space Echo. Of course they liked the Roland the best....the guys saying it had a "3D element" that made it quite special. BUT....for the focus of great tape delay, they were exceptionally impressed with the Fender Space Delay. For $100, it equaled the focus of the Strymon models with a bit more warmth.

    Not gonna lie, that overdrive is sounding kinda sweet. And you definitely could do hard rock with it. Mid-Eighties Dokken, for instance, maybe even first-album Van Halen. It has that snotty, nasal "ong" sound with the "Pre-Mid-Boost" knob wicked up. Of course, you'd need to _start_ with an already-cranking Marshall...

  • @atanastsvetkov1530
    @atanastsvetkov1530 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    A bit underwhelming actually. Not even whelmed :D One would think with the resources Fender have they would put out a £150 pedal (sound quality-wise) for the price of an affordable pedal, sell tons of units and secure a big market share. Not sure what they were going for really. Tone City sound better for half the price. Lee and Pete looked underwhelmed too (but they did not to say it directly as Andertons will want to sell some of these :D ). Nice playing Pete as usual! You can make anything sound good man!

    I think the Distortion is more of a DS-1 type distortion. There's definitely some differences in tone, but if anyone has seen That Pedal Show's DS-1 video, you'll know what I'm talking about. It needs to be run into an ever so slightly driven amp.

  • @alphanumeric1529
    @alphanumeric1529 ปีที่แล้ว

    In regards to Pete's comments about volume knobs... I almost always need to pull volume out of several pedals in my signal path.
    I do wish pedals marked the unity gain position, and I wish increases or decreases of gain didn't change the volume of the pedal, so when I'm turning up the gain, I'm not also increasing the volume. When I'm boosting the gain, I'm just trying to get more break up, not more volume. If I wanted more volume, I'd turn the volume knob up.
    Seems so obvious.

    Fender has tried with pedals before and nobody ever seemed to care very much. Interested if these will make any waves competing with the likes of Mooer and Danelectro and other decent cheap pedals. ***Editing after watching to say I thought they were terrible except the Delays and reverb. 8:00 "Why do drive pedals have the option of less-than-unity gain?" Really? You guys have never heard of an underdrive? I've used them. Maybe you've got a one-channel amp. Or maybe your guitar's volume knob sucks away your tone. Put it anywhere in the chain for strategically placed attenuation. Now, just because I've tried an underdrive, doesn't mean I liked it or that I use or recommend it. But it IS a thing.

    • @patrickmacleod2415
      @patrickmacleod2415 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think what he was saying is that unity gain is at around 7 or 8 instead of in the middle at 5, which I can understand criticising. Usually you are going to want it at unity or above, so if that starts at 8, it doesn’t give you much room on the upper end.
