You are a beast at painting. I start a lot of projects, get bogged down with life and then never finish anything. I see a lot of small youtubers who churn out so many models and it amazes me. Keep it up, love the channel.
Thanks bud, I think I might have a bit of OCD or something, I certainly have a hard time letting go of a project once I get started - and I do start a lot of them hahah!
That sir, is an impressive number of models. Going to check out some of your other videos. I'm very curious about the specifics of your spreadsheet tracking. Cheers.
Really interested video, and super impressive painting progress. I tried something similar a while back in 2020, was shooting for a model a day and tracked it in a (much less detailed) spreadsheet. I stopped a little after 200 since I had a class that was really time consuming and I couldn't keep up with both. I ended up a bit burnt out afterwards. Thinking about it again after seeing this video I think I also really lost modivation because of all the external things I was painting for being canceled from the pandemic so I think your changes for 2024 are a great plan which should avoid the situation I was in, having specific events and campaigns is always a great way to modivate progress. Also congrats on reaching 1k subscribers! I just found your channel through this video and I'll be sticking around for sure.
Thanks man! I hope I can keep making interesting stuff for you and the other subscribers :) Nice to meet a fellow spreadsheeter 😆! For me it really helped going to events to keep me motivated, and just playing in general. So in your case I can definitely see why you started having trouble with motivation with things being cancelled and the pandemic limiting games in general is rough. But honestly 200 models that is impressive! While my stats say that I paint a model a day, I can go many days without it, and then just batch paint a unit on a boring night with an audio book on in the background.
You got a massive amount done. I wish I could be as motivated as you. I painted an army for a tournament, and that is it for this year so far. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing!
The tournament thing certainly helps with getting things done. Having gone to so many events last year also really helps hehe. For me I think it is 2 things that motivate me. 1. That damn spreadsheet. Getting to watch numbers grow and things turn green helps motivate. 2. Once you got a lot of stuff painted, making army lists that is mostly painted and feature a couple of things that arent - really helps get those that aren't painted. For me anyway :)
Awesome! yet another spreadsheet tracker :D I thought I was alone in my obsession, but at least 2 others of you have come forward, love it :D Would be fun to see if there was a more efficient way to track things and compare notes hehe.
Love the video! How is it you get that yellow? Its so warm. Is it just the imperial fist contrast paint? Or do you base it with anything before the imperial fist?
I suppose I could do a painting video on it at some point, that might not be a bad idea. I get my yellow (or more like orange in the end I suppose) by priming my models white (I use army painter, but as long as it isnt corax white - cause it dulls it down way too much). And then I do anywhere between 2-5 layers of the Cassandora Yellow shade paint from Citadel. I cant give an exact layer count cause the pots of Cassandora Yellow are too inconsistent in their... consistency hehe. There is a long story behind this choice but I can save that for a video some day maybe. The main issue with using shade is that you can get a bit of pooling and a bit of tide marks if you aren't patient. I have just chosen to use it for my advantage by applying battle damage to my Fists. Hope that helps, if not I will find a model to paint and record it at some point :)
Thanks for the feedback bud, I honestly appreciate it 😊 I am still trying to learn, it can be a bit difficult to record and then when you edit it is all wobbly and all over the place. Fortunately most of the footage in this video is from the start of the year and I have become a little bit better since then I hope hehe. But thanks again 🥳

Thats awesome I wished I was that fast good luck with the new goals
Got to love spreadsheets to track everything. You certainly give spreadsheet envy as yours looks awesome!
Fantastic work.
Good job, tracking, system. Then you see results. Keep going

I excited to see you future videos. Also thats a lot done last year, nice.
Thanks! I hope I can keep things interesting 😬
Thanks for sharing. I use a spreadsheet as well. It´s not as detailed, but every miniature is to full completion.

El año pasado tambien fue un buen año para mi, que gusto poder haber pintado todo lo que tu, ahora sienta y relajate con una cerveza, un saludo
I hope google translate told me the right thing - but I will take your advice and sit down and have a beer :D Thanks!
In the most respectful way, may you be mounted upon
🤣

"Hi, I'm Tom, and I keep a spreadsheet of all my models to track my painting progress." Who needs a Ferrari anyway!
Exactly - but I DO need more models... so yea, maybe drop the spreadsheet? naaah, I'll keep being a nerd
Goals are not specific measurable attainable relatable or time specific
Don't move the camera too much man, hard to watch / focus on what's going on
