Tom's Hobby Adventures
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ส.ค. 2012
Hi I am Tom. A life long table top wargamer and hobbyist.
I think I have been in the hobby for about 25+ years on and off at this point.
By day I am a video game designer and 3d artist.
On my channel you will find a variety of content related to my hobby journey and adventures.
It can honestly be anything from unboxings, modeling, kit bashing, painting, tutorials, terrain crafting, battle reports to general commentary on rules, lore or other things related to the hobby of miniature and table top wargaming.
You may also find the odd video that is a bit outside of the scope mentioned above.

Imperial Fists vs Word Bearers - Horus Heresy 2.0 Battle Report
This is the channels' first Battle Report featuring my Imperial Fists lead by Alexis Polux in a thematic list using the Hammerfall Strike Force Rite of War.
I am up against my friend Søren who will be commanding his Word Bearers of the Flayed Hands Chapter using the Dark Brethern Rite of war in an equally thematic list.
The quality isn't quite up to where I want it to be, but I have plans to fix it for the next one!

Heresy Commentary - Arquitor Article & Campaign book hype and hopes!
Your project inspired me to start a WE army of my own!
Very well painted armies! Can't wait to see more battle reports in the future!
Thanks! We can't wait to do more, but I cannot promise when that will be, hopefully soon 😁
Damn this is your first batrep? If put a fraction as much effort in improving as you have in the armies (which look great), the army backgrounds (which is great) and creating your own overhead rig, these batreps will probably be some of the best on TH-cam. Excellent job.
@@derekgehring2771 That is some high praise right there, and much appreciated. I am not sure I will ever be able to compete with the best out there, but I can hope to improve it to my own - and hopefully my viewers' satisfaction and enjoyment 😊 I will certainly try!
Great work guys! Thank you for this video!
@@SalmidanachMST Thank you for watching it 😊
Really great first video, subscribed for more! I really liked the close ups of the table and the lighting vibe of the army showcases. Nicely done 👌
Thanks! And thanks for the subscription 😃 I hope I can keep it. It won't all be battle reports, but there will definitely be a lot more of them!
great presentation. like the lighting. great army on display section. excellent terrain setup.
Thanks man, I appreciate it! ☺ I hope I can keep it up and improve it
Armies look great. Love the word bearers in this
@@MarcoSvizzero They are really cool indeed! They will return in the future 😊
good content
danish?
@@FirstCaptainSevatar Yep, we are Danish 😊
Really cool game. i would peronally like a bit more dice rolling and longer videos but was a good video
@@magnuschristiansen7941 I appreciate the feedback 😊 I think we might include a few more dice rolls in the, especially important ones. This game didnt turn out too long once my stuff started dying, but I bet there will be longer ones in the future 😊
Great game! Minor note: If word bearers draw a close combat they count as winning the combat by one
@@Panzerknacker1 Cheers for that, Søren probably forgot about that little caveat, but I will be sure to remind him, I am sure that will be relevant in the future 😊
For the Leviathan; do you know if you can get the ranged weapons as a seperate sprue or do you need to buy both a melee siege dread and a ranged one? I want to run my Leviathan in your exact mix but I the kit I got only has the melee weapons.
@@KillerOrca Mine is the old resin forgeworld one, and the one plastic version I got was 2nd hand and glued up mostly. But I think you should be able to buy the sprues on their own. But I havent done so myself as I have loads of weapon options in resin 😅
@@TomsHobbyAdventures Got it, thanks! Much appriciated
Just watched this whole playlist today and must say how much I've enjoyed watching them.I take interest as Ive been doing similar by retooling my 40k Salamanders into a heresy army perhaps not as strictly as yourself (many mk7 heads have been replaced) and love seeing how HH armies develop alot more interesting to the copy and paste 40k armies currently are.Keep up the good work 👏
@@Garsty Thanks a lot! That means a lot to me that you have been enjoying these! I hope your Salamanders are turning out cool! More videos are coming in this series, I have just been distracted with other projects. Also, I am working on a new little 40k to 30k project that I will share as soon as I get the first test models painted up and edited the video for it :)
@TomsHobbyAdventures thank you and yes their coming along plus adding more HH units too them 😅 and look forward to whats coming up in future 👍
Beautiful miniatures and intresting game! Great job guys, wait another video.
@@sergeigorbunov9855 Thanks! Hope to get another game recorded soon :)
Love the video, I’d love to see that video you were talking about the world waters organization and logistics!
@@kristophersmith7805 hah yea maybe I should work on that. I got too many projects and ideas and too little time. I will consider bumping it up the priority list again 😊
Beautiful armies! Strongly recommend getting a stabilized gimbal for taking video to reduce the shakiness. You can also correct for it in editing, but combining both would produce the best result.
@@heindrich1988 you are 100% correct, and it is the main reason it took a long time to get edited, I was a bit demotivated by the shakiness of the video and the briefness of the clips of the game. It is THE main thing I am focusing on going forward. Also I added a stabilizing mount to my Christmas wishlist, so if I don't get it there I'll buy one myself 🤣
For a first, this is awesome. I appreciate the hard work you've put into it!
@@NobleNayrb thanks man! It was a bit more work than I anticipated, so I am happy that someone can appreciate that 🤣
Thats a sick looking WB praetor
@@notarealperson8956 He sure is! If I remember correctly, you were waiting for some Word Bearers 🔥
Obviously as you said more improvements to make but overall really enjoyed it and the shorter run time was pleasant, keep up the good work 👍
@@Garsty Thanks! It means a lot, I am sure I will get the rough bits ironed out as I get a few more out :)
Great video keep them coming
@@stevenotrob6513 Thanks! Will do my best to do so! 😊
great report and very pretty armies! appreciate the editing, the introductions and not focusing on every single dice roll - keeps the runtime reasonable and doesn't hinder the momentum of the battle. Very enjoyable to watch.
@@somedude3795 Thanks man! That was what I was going for, having it not be too long. Although we did rush a bit on the recording when playing the game, so that is also a factor + why it is a bit wobbly at time, sometimes I just didnt have enough material hehe. It is a learning process, but the aim was to not have it be 2 hours of dice rolls hehe
Great game guys! Nicely done
@@Kakos08Theos Thanks! Will try to keep at it and improve it
Was an absolute pleasure participating in this project. Thanks for a great match and great time buddy!
@@sempthegreat The pleasure is all mine, looking forward to making the next ones better and better 😊🥳
Love it, loads of soul in both armies.
@@chadking375 Thanks! That is certainly how we love to collect and play our games, glad it comes through 😊
@@TomsHobbyAdventuresI’m the same in every regard, I themed my guys around books/fluff/novellas too, mine are EC themed around “The Soul-Severed” audio drama.
@chadking375 awesome! I have been toying with the idea of EC too at some point. I might need to read/listen to the Soul-Severed again soon, it has been a while 😊
Absolutely top notch batrep!
Thanks! I appreciate it 😀
Liked the shorter overview style to the report, and the army list showcase at the beginning, only suggestion would be less shakiness on the eye level recording
Thanks for the feedback! I am not satisfied with the level of shakiness either, so much so that I have put a steady cam rig on my christmas wish list hah. But it is definitely the one main gripe I have and want to change for the next one!
@ no worries dude! Apart from that it’s a great bat rep, look forward to more!
@@Harrison-cr2wl Thanks bud! Hope that I can improve it significantly for the next one 🥳
Why print the posters doublesided again?
@@GrimmJD that is a fair question, and I probably didn't explain it well enough. I made mine double sided to make it easier for me to just sprinkle them over a table and not worry about if it was a blank side facing up or not 😊 beyond that there isn't much need for it!
Can you share your poster dokument?
Yea I will find a way to share it and the images I have downloaded from Warhammer Community, but I won't be at my PC for a day or two. I'll reply to you again when I have got it sorted :)
I'm just commenting here to remind myself to check back for when you share the images
Nice
Those look great. Your gaming table looks amazing. I really wish that GW still sold those plastic game boards. I missed my chance to get them. Guess I'll just have to make do with the neoprene mats. Thanks for sharing!!
@@Paranormal-Stupidity Thanks bud, appreciate it! Yea I missed my chance too, I was just lucky to find a good deal on facebook markedplace one day. While it does look good, a mat is certainly easier to play on and the grid layout on this board is a bit questionable too :p
❤️🤘🔥👍
an interesting idea could also be applied for model bases
@@Hex1010 oh very easily. I usually make rocks for my bases like this, but you could totally make more debris for sure!
Very cool! looks great on the tables.
Can’t afford to buy models so I just watch videos like this instead lol
@@johntaylor8469 If you want to get into the hobby on a budget I can highly recommend getting some used models. These days people are quick to get rid of slightly older models for the new hotness. I have a series of videos on my channel where I repurpose some of my old models (and some used ones I bought cheap) and convert them to a usable and characterful army :) let me know if you need any pointers if you ever take the plunge :)
Please make more these are awesome mate keep up the amazing art 👌
@@JacobPermacultureWizard Thanks man, that means a lot! I think it turned out pretty good too, but the video did terrible. But that wont stop me from making more like this in the future 😅
Hey man, these videos are very good to listen to while painting or modelling.. these are good company. and when you talk about your motivation, it sounded really raw and authentic. It was inspiring :)
@@leonardoefernandezybelluar1083 Thanks man! I appreciate it :) I will for sure make more like this in the future. I love watching similar videos in the background while I paint or do hobby too!
Very nice.
Amazing job! I've been using diamond dots from dollarstore diamond paintings for my rivets. They are about the same scale and you get hundreds for a couple of dollars.
@@MrRocknut Thanks man! Sometimes I wish we had the same dollar stores as you guys have 😅😊
Looks great bud :-) any bits you were missing you could print them off since you have a printer but looks and sounds great :-)
Yea you are right :) I am weird that I try to keep everything official, I like the challenge of that :D But one day I might cave and do it haha
@@TomsHobbyAdventures fair enough. I enjoy HH myself but you will find HH has a huge 3d printing community simply based on the fact for so long everything was in resin and was very very expensive and it's massive in Australia because how how insanely over priced even more GW has things for there. Anyway have to check out more of your videos was great be well bud 🤟🏻
On the subject of using the Ork terrain: 1) Play Kill Team, or maybe Grimdark Future: Firefight (the latter being really good if you want a fast-to-learn, fast-to-play casual game) 2) Play Horus Heresy, cannibalizing Ork rules from 7th ed (though this would require a bit more work to adapt to the changes from 1st to 2nd ed HH)
I have played a bit of Kill Team last edition, so I might try the new one :) The heresy with xenos rules is something I would love to do and maybe... just maybe, might do on the channel in the future :D Thanks for your suggestions <3
Great excuse to make an Ork board, to play one game of 40k each edition and go back to Heresy. <3 xD
Hahah amen brother :P <3
Looking forward to fielding multiple 6 strong companies of many of these variants in Legions Imperialis scale…
@@davidwasilewski wow that does sound really awesome, a true super heavy company!

Thanks as always for the support 🥳 much appreciated
great work on the dread and great video! contemptors hold a special place in my heart, they are just so cool. also, that stripped red paint just in the recesses with black everywhere else looks damn good, like a martian dust iron hands scheme! i guess that's the appeal of an all-over oil wash and then rubbing it off the surfaces with mineral oil/white spirits
@@georgikens7516 yea that look has a certain charm to it hehe :) it could be a fun thing to do at some point, and dusted up paint job!
Are you ever going to do a video on how you paint your world eaters or have you already? I ask because its a really nice scheme and I am a late heresy world eaters player and have an unpainted force.
@@IsaacLiwszyc-uy8sl I suppose I could do it. There are bits and pieces of how I do it spread around different videos, but I suppose that would be a good little video :) I'll have a think about doing that soon, it shouldnt take too long to do. Thanks for the suggestion!
If I wasn't busy with other projects (namely my Orks and Dornian Heresy Nurgle Blood Angels), I'd be down run some Loyalist World Eaters

@@TomsHobbyAdventures They went ham right off the bat so I feel better subbing in more CSM bits. Plus painting them is a trip, uniformity goes out the window
@@chadking375 oh for sure, they went off of the deep end hard 😅
@@TomsHobbyAdventures Like I kinda admire FW for making all that livery and unique legion stuff when we know they just started skinning and painting themselves into whatever. I’m curious what direction the 40k EC are gonna go, if they’re just the “rockstars” then I’ll pass. I fear they’re gonna repeat the Death Guard and make them uselsss for HH. Not like the WE and TS whose infantry kits are excellent for HH.
Really cool modding. I made a pilot in my Redemptor which is basically a torso with a half bionic head and some tubes. I know dreads are probably more in a tank but I figured it would look cool when you open the sarcophagus and see a mangled dude.
That sounds awesome! I am not super familiar with the Redemptor but it shares many similar traits with the old Castraferrums, and I really should have included a shot of one of my old dreads in this video, cause on the old Venerable Dreadnought kit, you could opt not to put on the front armor plate and have the pilot exposed, There you see a marine torso connecting to the helmet of the dreadnought. Aw man, I'll have to do another dreadnought video at some point cause it is a cool detail to show off :)
@@TomsHobbyAdventures yeah I actually kinda based it off that old venerable dread
