The Magic Keyboard completes the iPad Pro lineup and is the best keyboard accessory that you can get. It is unfortunately a TON of money at $300 which is the third of the price of an iPad. It does bridge the gap fully and hopefully will keep many fingerprints away from your iPad. Did anyone else place an order for one? PS. Would have LOVED if this had an aluminum front/back. Think that would have made it perfect and more durable.
@@jamesdellios Close the case and lay it on the case - lovely :D hehe - you also can leave in the case an lay flip the case - so that the keyboard is in the air (don't know how to describe it :D) - that what i did with the smart keyboard for drawing - but mostly i took it out and put it an the case.
-Generation 9 IPad-So I have never treated myself to something this expensive and it was so worth it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , I definitely recommend getting the pricier one because it’ll be worth it. I don’t have a pc or anything (my husband has it all and now wants to take my iPad🤣) so having something like this is nice, I’m going to get a screen protector, also I’m using it to start drawing with, I would recommend getting a Apple pen on amazing and not the 200$ pens lmfao. It’s a real good iPad man I’m clumsy so hoping I don’t drop it
One of the reasons I ordered one of these was honestly just to keep my iPad screen smudge free - on light backgrounds even if I’ve been lightly scrolling with freshly washed hands smudges start to appear fast. It seems like with this, for most things you can use the device without needing to touch the device at all which is great! Plus, I do appreciate the typing speed advantage of a proper keyboard of course
Thanks for the upload. I cancelled my order for my 12.9 magic keyboard. If I’m spending close to $400 I was hoping that there would be a little more such as folding the case back to use my Apple Pencil, USB data transfer, volume/brightness control and not made with such cheap material that will wear down in 18 months.
For typing or general laptop use, a macbook air is a lighter cheaper and, overall, better option. For normal tablet use, it is heavy and doesn’t let you tilt the ipad backwards to draw or take notes. In general, I don’t see it as a practical enough attachment for 300-350 bucks.
OK IDEA: I’ve seen that the up top keys are hard to use at certain angles, because the fingers will hit the bottom of the screen. If you extend the keyboard down a little bit, then a “guard” could be added to the other side, so that the pencil can be attached and be safe. you get larger keyboard space, and a flush edge, with the pencil being somewhat protected
thumbs up for not learning too heavily on the laptop replacement angle, but you shouldn't have to wait for an accessory to review a product (especially one that most iPad users wouldn't get/use) that kinda suggests some lack of understanding of what this product is. "Our goal with the iPad has always been to create a device so capable and so versatile, it can become whatever you want it to be. And that versatility is built on the power of TOUCH...And SOMETIMES, you may wanna type..." - Craig Federighi

I have the smart folio and I love it so much! But, I just bought the macbook air 2020 and I’m slightly regretting it before even recieving it! If I don’t like it I might return it and just look more into the magic keyboard.
awaiting delivery in UK , promised 27 May from Apple..... looks good but £299 is a stack of cash but what do we expect from designed by California in Apple ? !!! Thanks for the review ..
I ordered it but changed my mind the next day. I don’t think I need it at the moment. But the magic keyboard looks amazing from Apple. Maybe later on I’ll get it but for the time being, no. Great video btw
It looks so futuristic. I just wouldn’t choose it over the Macbook Air of entry level Pro. I need more monitor support then what the ipad offers and a tad more robust file system. The one thing that bothers me looking at this is how small the trackpad is. Again its the same situation it can do what a laptop can just not as well.
I personally think this keyboard is less convenient if you want to write a lot on your iPad ( and like sometimes type on it ) With the Smart Keyboard, you can fold de keyboard behind it and put it on a table to write on it. Here u would have to take it out of the case.

Way more expensive in Canada. I miss when you used to offer the Canadian pricing in your videos since you do shoot in Toronto. I ordered the 12.9” model and after Ontario HST it came to just over $500. Really hoping it’s worth it. Going to be connecting it to my 2018 iPad Pro 1TB model. Good thing I didn’t decide to upgrade to the 2020 model.
This thing is an extra 300 grams or 11 ounces at least. My keyboard folio hardly feels like flimsy plastic. You’re also paying for a heavy paperweight which will defeat the purpose of portability for the 11” iPad Pro
@@KarlConrad Hey Karl, I finally uploaded my review! I'm new to this, so it took me a while 😁. If you have time time, I'd love your thoughts! th-cam.com/video/N0rEVbqLnvg/w-d-xo.html
One way Apple can add a “Pro” feature to the iPad Pro is the natively add 16:9 external video output, whether that’s from the UBC-C or through Airplay. This will require an iPadOS change or maybe even a change to the hardware itself. But either way, it’s a bit deflating to find the next person to present in a meeting when the person before did their presentation on a Surface in its full screen glory start to finish into a 16:9 aspect projector/large flat panel then you come in with your 4:3 aspect. Yes, there are apps that will scale to 16:9, but natively iPadOS supports only 4:3 aspect.
yes! it wasn't always this way. i was so mad cause i wait forever to update my devices. and kept my old ios for a while where the video was in 16:9 and then one day i updated stupidly and it changed to 4:3 . i was so mad i called apple. then i had to download a new app to shoot videos. I don't know why people at apple don't fix it. Its so dumb of them. Especially if you use it to shoot movies like i was, and then you cant see the aspect ratio that will exist later. Leave a message on their support comments. Maybe if enough people do they will fix it back to the way it was.
I get mine in 2 days and I’m so excited. Yes the 12.9 is pricey, but this is my ONLY computing device. No MacBook or laptop needed. July 9th hurry up 😂
I bought a random nice case the apple store, and a Bluetooth keyboard, so i can use the keyboard while I'm typing and the case only while I'm drawing, it's better this way in my opinion
contemplating whether I should ditch my MacBook and buy this whole setup? I’m not confident if this is a good enough replacement though, especially for a student. Any recommendations?
So the only to drawbacks are the price and the material. Thankfully, money is of no issues. Which means the material is what’s really holding me back. I have the Folio keyboard and it is starting to show its age. Kinda bummed that they went with the same material.
Good video as always but would have liked more of a thorough review - how is it on your lap? What about the backlighting? Is it sturdy enough to be able to use the pencil (the angle doesn’t seem right to do so anyway)? How much extra bulk does it add (the Verge’s review said this makes the iPad thicker than his MacBook Pro!)? Not sure I can justify this price tag atm, might be better off just connecting a cheap Bluetooth keyboard.
@@cassablanca148 In my honest opinion, no it's not worth it. There are other cases on the market that do the same thing at a much lower price. Even apples other case shown in this video. Alternatively, you can get a wireless mouse and keyboard for cheap (logitech k400) and just connect that to save more money. Another suggestion would be to get the apple magic keyboard and mouse (cheaper than this case :)) and you can use that with your macbook aswell. (if you have it in a display setup). Hope this helps
I would wish Apple would make a keyboard with only the keyboard plus the touch board like on iMac Pro. I usually use a Bluetooth mouse cause I like to maneuver my hand versus a touch pad

If you’re someone who mostly or only uses the keyboard and can now use a mouse/trackpad, then this may be a good buy. To be completely honest, this accessory doesn’t make the iPad any more useful than it already is. It’s one of those things that is cool to have. In terms of typing, that’s been a feature with many keyboards. Cursor support may help in applications where it makes sense, but it’s not a night and day difference or brand new functionality for the iPad. It doesn’t take it to another level. Hi, thanks for this look at the new keyboard. Does it flip to the back so you can still write on the iPad Pro without removing it from the keyboard? Or do you have to remove the iPad Pro to lay it down to write on it with the Apple Pen? Thanks again.
