What can't this Young Lady, Our Lucy SING?
Bob, your reactions are the best. As you well know, Lucy is a never ending gift on so many levels. I am turning 75 next month, and Lucy is able to magically reverse time and return me to the 1950’s or any other decade in the space of a three or four minute song. Among many other wonderful devices in this song is Lucy’s sculpting of the word “touch”. It is amazingly almost palpable, as is the “touch” at the end of her rendition of “Memory”. Lucy has the rare ability to get your attention and to immerse you in the story she is sharing.
Now that's how you sing this song with soul. What a brilliant rendition of this pop classic. She's gone and done it again!
Yes. This is now THE standard!!! She never ceases to amaze. The best singer on the face of the earth.

The beauty of this song is that Lucy’s lower register is so captivating that it just draws you in. Lucy did slow the tempo down but it showed off her ability to extend and hold notes in perfect pitch. ❤

Bob, you mentioned the video setup. I may be repeating, but, I heard a reactor say that her set is simple: plain background, a mic and a closeup of her; "and she gets away with it!". Well, I agree with them and you. Seeing her face, the body language in her face and movements, blue eyes that people say they get locked looking at, plus her silky, smoooth voice. What else do you need!

I think almost every person that has listened to Lucy for a while has just run out of words to explain how wonderful and mesmerizing Lucy voice is. I know how losing dogs can be. The car you can fix but your best friend can’t be replaced. I suppose that’s why my wife and I keep taking in strays. Please stay safe, healthy, and always free.

I recently saw a cover Lucy did when she was 14 called "listen". It was remarkable to see someone that young to sing like that. At the end, she gave that beautiful Lucy smile. Check it out.
Now that's how you sing that song! A voice like no other. To me Lucy is perfection, she has it all. Lucy can sing any song and still make it her own!
Hello Bob, well what you can say, how good was this Lucy Thomas " Unchained Melody " it has to be the best version of this great song I have ever heard. How can this remarkable young lady sing any better than this but you can put money on her next song that it will be even better. I just want to make sure you've heard all recent versions. Angelina sang at the Nobel Peace Prize that was awarded to an Iranian woman who is in prison for advocating for women's rights in Iran. The women's twin children were accepting the award for her and Angelina sang the song in a reserved manner to match the solemn occasion. @@lynneshellyattianeseattian9321 I never said anything about who may have sang it better. The top tier of singers (vocalists) all sing in mind blowing ways ... just differently. Barbara referred to all the versions that she has heard and I just wanted her to maybe enjoy another one. We're all fans of artists that we like .. there's no reason to be so sensitive.

We have used the word masterclass before when describing Lucy Thomas performances. Well this was another one of those. Lucy is without question a virtuoso vocalist is extraordinary calibre. To take on an iconic mega-classic such as Unchained Melody takes guts. To take on Bobby Hatfield takes guts. Lucy didn’t disappoint. Lucy never disappoints. The popular music world is her oyster. I love both the live and studio songs, but I agree with you that seeing Lucy's expression close up adds much to the emotion of the video! Her whole presentation causes me to think "this is totally unfair" to anyone who would try to resist her talent and charisma.

Bob, I was wondering when this would get to you. You really became invested in this rendition. There were little expressions, smiling, and head shaking. Did you notice her breath control here? Early on she held a long note, added vibrato, then right into the next phrase . Amazing! Her voice is pure silk here. It's very chill and restful. Amen on the vibrato.; even on the reach. Also several times she brought her hands to her chest making it a very 'first person' setting. The timing alteration in this piece reminded of "Over The Rainbow" which also had the time altered. Sorry about the deer and car. I came close one time but saw the deer coming out of the woods and already had my foot on the brakes. It was close. Nice reactions Bob. More: We got to see her beautiful smile here too.

I think this is her best performance yet, although We Can Change The World, All By Myself, and Footprints In The Sand come close. And her vocal range is stunning.

What can you say about this song other than WOW.I totally agree with you ,every song Lucy releases its better than the last. I have always loved this song I remember it from the film Ghost. Since lucy released this I have listened to a lot of other versions and I can say this is best one I have ever heard .Lucy´s voice is just so beautiful and mesmerising it stops you in your tracks .Just imagine what she will sound like when her voice reaches full Maturity. This performance closely follows the RB ( solo) cover from 1965 . The original is by Todd Duncan , from the film unchained . 1955 .
Yes, and it became a super pop hit ten years later when Bobby Hackett of the Righteous Brothers did his iconic version.

We must acknowledge that this video has been designed to impress us at more than one level, notwithstanding that Lucy Thomas' singing is superb just on its own. It's easy for a production team of a company with logical and expected interests in investing themselves on a winning product, to smoothly touch on our normal masculine sensitivities. That she, talented Lucy, possesses a very beautiful and naturally sensuous face, already at her young age, can be treated as a useful and valuable byproduct, and part of the investment of such production company. And I don't blame the company. These artistic endeavors are usually covered by investments with the ultimate purpose of talent and popularity for profits.
These observations are not intended to criticize the talented and beautiful singer Lucy Thomas indeed is. They may be intended to express a possible warning, and to mention a potential danger that, if Lucy's is not a bit careful with the early steps of her career, she may be misguided into becoming a stereotype in the early phases of her artistic career. And that may become burdensome for her in the future.
I (most of us) admire Lucy Thomas' talents, and those of her sister Martha. This young, beautiful, and so far, successful singer; this truly hard-working young lady deserves to be fully aware of all possible aspects and directions of her early career as a singer, possible positive and negative aspects. And most likely she is, at least her personal manager should be.
That her interpretation of this popular song is great, admirably sexy and masterfully produced, no question about it. And not only that, it's also masterfully provocative at moments, and that might have been produced intentionally, or naturally created by the many sensitivities young Lucy possesses.
All commentaries aside, consequential or inconsequential, the video as published, is a masterpiece of talent, beauty, sound, color, creative make-up, special effects in the use of light and darkness, and the presence of the spiritual and physical person young Lucy Thomas is.
All these commentaries are strictly my own personal observations and opinions.
Right. Lucy is entering the stage when there are things to be cautious about, but she seems to have been brought along carefully, waiting 'til age 20 for her first concert, then not rushing into tours but waiting for the "Rosie" musical. She has a great production staff and her natural talent and natural beauty are off the charts. This, magnificent as it is, would have benefited from a bit more of the innocence of "We Can Change the World," which is just as plaintive but is less stylized and required less makeup. This one approaches a night club look to a degree not needed.
Bob, I got more. You mentioned that we can "see" Lucy singing, etc. What I notice is that even this is a bust shot we can see her bring her hands to her chest to make it first-person feeling. There's also what another reactor called a 'Lucy-ism'. She does a little head bounce in many videos. Both of these things show right after the explosion, head bounce and hands to the chest. Both make this very pleasing to me.
Listen to Angelina sing this . This is a great rendition, Angelina makes it her own.

I have listened to AJ sing this and respectfully have to say it doesn’t even come close to Lucy’s version. jMHO

Lucy has a great voice and will do well in musical theatre .. especially where pre-records are lip synced. But the audio in this performance is way too heavily processed and the song ends in a somewhat boring manner.
