The Washington Post is so good at sanitizing what these agencies really do. My favorite bit is “sometimes the NSA sweeps up American communications in the process.” That’s a nice way to say “they spy on all phone calls and email exchanges.”

Aren’t the offices in Departments actual agencies in themselves like DEA, secret service, department of energy, department of state? If it is because these agencies aren’t exclusively intelligence agencies then neither is FBI or the agency that launches satellites? Why not fold the satellite launch agency into one that is studying satellite maps? Why does department of homeland security need its own budget and personnel when you already have FBI, ATF, DEA and state/local policing agencies? A fusion center combining intel is one thing but this is true big government and corruption at work here.

NSA doesn't collect any emails of US persons. 702 deals with content, but not on US-persons. 215 deals with metadata, but that's self-explanatory of why that isn't any violation.

Aren’t the offices in Departments actual agencies in themselves like DEA, secret service, department of energy, department of state?
If it is because these agencies aren’t exclusively intelligence agencies then neither is FBI or the agency that launches satellites?
Why not fold the satellite launch agency into one that is studying satellite maps?
Why does department of homeland security need its own budget and personnel when you already have FBI, ATF, DEA and state/local policing agencies?
