  • We are continuing southbound this section of the Appalachian Trail from Tricorner Knob Shelter to Newfound Gap. The night was pretty cold for us. Good October fall leaf changes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and excellent views from 6000+ feet in elevation. We went 15.7 miles in this video and after arriving in Gatlinburg, we toured around in a rental car. Great views of a bear, Cades Cove, Roaring Fork, and more.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I'm planning to visit the Great Smoky Mountains in the spring. I'm researching by watching videos to see what trails I want to hike. Any suggestions?

For day hikes, my favorites are Mt Leconte via the Alum Cave trail. Charlies Bunion from Newfound Gap. And Mt Cammerer from Cosby Campground. All are 9 to 11 miles each. For multi day backpacking I would suggest the Appalachian Trail which runs through the park. Have a great time!!
