Wondering why you wake up at night? Make sure you check out this video: th-cam.com/video/6QkyRSSPlLk/w-d-xo.html Also comment below and let me know if any of these tips helped you!
I have a question about ejaculation is it normal if when ejaculating if it all comes out in one stream all at once like peeing or is this something I need to worry about?
Rena Malik ? is your advice in this video for females only ? Because males are different. males can have a erection that prevents them from peeing on themselves while sleep it acts as a switch.
I'm a retired anesthesiologist. Had a career in academia and private practice. I've watched a number of your videos. You have a gift in teaching. Hopefully, some of your time is around med students, interns etc. Well Done!
Ok guys I improved a lot in the past weeks, I came back to this video to tell you what helped me. I used to wake up every hour and a half, it was making me miserable since I'm also a light sleeper and have trouble going to sleep. Ok so I'm not going to make a huge comment, by far the thing that helped the most is to cut irritants, just as the doctor said in the second part. No soda, no carbonated drinks, no lemonade (I used to take A LOT of lemonade) and no spicy stuff (I'm mexican, so yeah that was a daily thing). It really was that simple, though it took a week to see results, and another week to really start feeling much better. I plan to do this for 3 months and start introducing some stuff again. I drink plain water all the time, completely plain. I have even developed a taste for it, whereas I didn't like it before (hence why I drank so much lemonade). There are other things that might have affected, for example I took pumpkin seed oil. But really I feel cutting out irritants is the thing that really made the difference. Thank God, thanks to the doctor Malik and thanks to all the other doctors on YT, I feel much better now.
Thank you Doctor Malik! I'm 76 and urinate frequently including 2 to 3 times sleep period. I just want to let you know that I have this problem with me since my college days. Recently my doctor checked me including blood test and told me my health being normal. Subconsciously, I was worried about this until now and want to celebrate. Thank you again for your expertise and God bless you.
A couple of others. Exercise more and turn up the thermostat. If the body is too cold at night it will rid itself of water in an attempt to increase body heat. This is a bigger issue in people with thyroid disorders. Oh, and anxiety issues can cause frequent urination as well. Great video!
Interesting! We keep the house cold at night (better sleep). I also suffer from hypothyroidism (Take meds). I have been urinating a lot lately. 4x in 9-10 hours. And A lot of fluid is coming out! I lost 2 lbs overnight.
If you are a male with BPH retention.. talk to your doctor about clean intermittent catheterization. CIC. It is not near as bad as it sounds and you will be 100% Empty!! Also look at your sleep. If you snore or have sleep Apnea it can prevent your body from going into a deep rem sleep. during this time our kidneys will slow down production. I am incontinent and use a diaper at night and I have for years. Getting on CPAP and getting proper rest in the last 6 months has reduced my nightly urine out put. There is lots of good advice here in this thread.
I'm 71 and never get up to pee at night because I consume olive oil and pumpkin seed oil daily, these two oils keep the prostate healthy and helps prevent BPH.
I do the same and it does nothing to stop peeing at night. It all has to do with snacking and drinking too much before bedtime. You can drink all the olive oil and pumpkin seed oil you want - it wont stop urination at night.
I get up 8-13 times a night, for the past six years. Saw doctors and all they wanted me to do was log my urination times 🤦🏻♀️. This video has been more helpful than any of those doctor trips. Thank you so much. I’ll give the kegel exercises a try, and double urination.
Dr. Malik, thank you for sharing your expertise with us so selflessly. Can you please do a video on INCONTINENCE? I would like to know what causes or can contribute to INCONTINENCE, particularly in men. My dad just turned 83.
Amazing INDIAN specialist physician. - Urologist. Do you know it takes 15 years after high school graduation to get that title? Dr. Malik is no ordinary woman. She is a very special one of a kind doing this all public service on her own time.
I stop drinking by 7:00 PM, void an hour before bedtime and double void before finally going to bed. I went from having to get up 2-3 times a night, to once around 3:00 AM.
Your videos are amazingly helpful. Can't appreciate and thank you enough. By the way in my personal experience, alcohol before bed seems to prevent waking up for urination.
I want to share something with you. I'll be sharing this with my doctor, as well. I don't particularly partake in using Marijuana. But in the last year or so, I've used it a few times. Nothing, I mean nothing, got rid of my BPH symptoms like that does. The hesitancy that had me standing at the toilet for 5 minutes after I finished, trying to get more out, is gone. That feeling of needing to go frequently? Gone. I held it in for quite some time, leading to a long, satisfying, urination. It helped every symptom. Maybe there's a way to isolate what's doing it.
Thank you Doctor Malik. I suffer from nocturia, insomnia and recently my legs have swollen (even though I have worked at reducing them greatly). I am not diabetic, but I am overweight and have high blood pressure.
I can recommend taking 50 mg. of zinc/ day combined w/copper every 24hrs. Will reduce frequency of urination and help to at least live a semi normal lifestyle. Been taking zinc for over 25 yrs. It's been a life saver! Also magnesium will greatly help you to sleep! We can take up to 400-600 mg./Day. I take the Doctor's Best brand 100mg. each. They consistently work nite after nite. Be careful during the day. They will make you drowsy. The only other thing I might mention is the over consumption of sugar & carbs. They wreck havoc with our bodies. Try to study up on the subject. I recommend Dr. Eric Berg here on TH-cam. Gives excellent info. and advise. Hope this helps.
Take Magnesium Glycinate in powder form at night - wear socks in your feet and elevate your legs on a pillow - cut out processed carbs and sugar - I’ve lost 60 pounds the last 10 months
Thank you for these tips, but could you explain the Kegel exercise to me a bit more? Do you need to do it before sleeping or when you wake up in the middle of the night?
Same and since I have to wake up multiple times at night, I can't get good quality complete sleep so as a result I've had a constant brain fog, cloudy brain for years now.
Get a bucket so can pee from the bed without getting up. It's the light and vertical position that wake you up. If you pee horizontally you can fall back to sleep without having the sleep cycle interrupted.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Generally, people will wake up between sleep cycles to go to the toilet. So long as you're getting enough complete sleep cycles, it doesn't matter too much if there are interruptions between them.
Thank you So much, Dr. Malik. I Suffer From Frequent Urination. It Disrupts My Sleep. I’ve been Suffering from this Issue for Years. I’m Going to Implement Your Advice & Hopefully I Don’t Suffer Anymore. May Allah Bless You in Every Single Way. Thank You 🙏
Dr. Malik I like your videos and program and I agree with the drinking water before bedtime should be suppressed, Short history on me that started the issues with need to go urinate especially after I stand up this all started when I had prostate cancer that was taken care of by non-invasive method called High issues with EDI? So you could say I ended up with three different problems just because of one procedure to get rid of prostate cancer? What are your thoughts and what do you think I can do to take care of some of these issues or reduce the severity of those issues? Specially when it has to do with Ed or needing to urinate every time I stand up? Also additional information as I have type 2 diabetes it's controlled through exercise and diet and reducing most of my carbohydrates and starches and more protein intake, as well as high blood pressure that I take to meds for which is Lisinopril and HCTZ which includes a diuretic as well as a tour vastatin before bedtime
Some medications cause dryness that make you feel thirsty so you hydrate and many people like to sleep in air conditioned rooms which can also cause dryness and thus people drink water at night and then have to go pee at night.
High levels of insulin at bedtime will cause frequent urination at night. Try to avoid foods that raise your insulin a few hours prior bedtime. I eat no carbs past 7pm, go to bed at 10 and sleep through the night.
I have type 2 diabetes and am on Metformin. Though I have had to wake up frequently at night, I assumed it was because I have diabetes but now, it's like every two hours at night, every night, disrupting my sleep. This also happens in the day. I asked my doctor what I can do and he said he'll refer me to a Urologist (next week) but also told me that I may likely be on some medication to shrink my bladder. I'm confused, if this will help with my situation and not lead to complications. Any advice, other than what has been revealed in your video Dr Rena Malik? Thank you
I’ve been monitoring how much fluids I drink and how much I pee. Something like a Void chart. It appears that I am producing 5:1 more cc at night. I feel very dehydrated if I limit my water intake. The majority of fluids daily are from water with coffee rarely after 10am. Looking forward to Urologist visit in two weeks. I’m really a fan of your podcast!

I live in Florida I was an AC contractor for 30 years and I suffer from Hydra hydrosis which makes me drink a lot I am retired now I got hurt several years ago A heavy object fell on my foot and I wound up with a blood blister which developed into a staph infection on my left foot To save my foot the VA doctors had to cut the heel of my foot down to the bone I couldn't walk for 3 years or work so I became a homeless vet The only place I could afford was a mobile home that was 37 years old and I found out that it was rat infested The rats used to begin eating through the floor every night and getting out I never left the bed at night to urinate I got into the habit of urinating into one of those special bottles but now I'm in a beautiful home really beautiful I'm going to try not to drink two hours before going to bed and see if that helps if I get up to go to the bathroom I find it hard to go back to sleep that's why I still urinate in the bottle

Dr Malik you talked about the role of drinking alcohol on nocturia, is drinking red wine too, in very moderation, bad on nocturia ? The reason being that I do drink 2 drinks of red wine daily in spite of my nocturia problem.
