Awwww! There's finger-strengthening and brain-training benefit on playing on a hard flat surface even without a piano! Did plenty of that as a college piano major!
I use it as play along and it helps a lot. It gives me focus and I can directly copy the hand movements of a professional. This is perfect for me at my stage
Thanks for the reminder! Bouncing between scales, Bertini Etudes, and Chopin Waltzes. Plus old favorite music. 4-5 hours maybe more! Retirement is awesome!
Finding the last exercise very challenging so slowing down and practicing with my left hand. Getting old and stiff😅 However, finding these exercises really helpful and enjoyable. Thank you so much 🙏
I love videos like these, I'm picking piano up (admittedly very late in my music journey although I've been around it my whole life), this is an amazing way to learn the instrument, relearn sheet music, and improve my musical abilities across all of the instruments I play. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 I can't wait for the next one!
Just subscribed earlier today after seeing the first one and finding so much value in it. Definitely gonna be putting these into practice and sharing the technique with my students, too.
Bravo. Estou aguardando com ansiosidade o exercício do Hanon 03
A couple of suggestions. I usually play the Hanon exercises in tenths, not octaves. By playing them in tenths it is easier to make sure the two hands are balanced. It is also a good idea to play each hand separately after playing them together. This will allow a student to make sure each hand is playing evenly. Josef Hofmann had his students play scales and arpeggios with each hand separately for the same reason. Finally, it is better to practice these Hanon exercises on a variety of pianos, some with light actions and some with heavy actions, and some pianos with shallow actions and some that have actions with deep travel. This variety of pianos will greatly help develop keyboard technique and flexibility.
I have a couple suggestions, when you play you should give us tips for a certain rhythm all at once so I don’t have to wait for every small tip every 20 seconds. I think that you should only play one octave because that is a good enough example for us. I know it’s a play along but I find it easier to watch (and hear) when I’m not playing and just listening to you.
Thank you! Subbed as promised! Been waiting for this for a while now. Please change key in next one for I want to see hand movement ✌️ now to watch the video
I can‘t read sheet music but I know I should learn it and I should work on some technical things. Like that I can perfectly combine it without opening books and just learn it for myself. thank you! 😊
With 10 years of practicing 7 hours a day I just need to skip sleeping and practice 24 hours a day to be on your level in about 3 years! That’s promising 😍
thank you for those kind of videos! can you please make a Hanon exercise video for different key? sometimes finger 1 and 5 are not comfortable on black keys:( i would really appreciate to help me
This definitely helps me, and only doing it two weeks so far. trills after the warmup are really good from the off, a bit less tension in the right arm (left is fine anyway), and I make much more relaxed kinds of mistakes now! :-)
I never knew Hanon could be played this way, recently I'm trying to play hanon in diff scales, and its much more challenging than playing only on C major as in the whole book, its only on C major scale. But I think with slow exercise, I will be able to improve it.
Excellent and helpful. As a middle-aged person, I find my back aching when I sit down to play. I attribute it to having to hold my arms out in front of me all day and when I'm at home doing the same, with cooking, and dishes, and picking my kids up. You say sit up straight and don't lean. Do you have a recommendation for how far away from the keys we should be sitting? Some optimal distance so we can hit each note without accidentally leaning?
Wow! Great use of Hanon! How many rythmic vars was that actually? 😂 And this is just the first in C. You vary key every day, but also exercise I guess? Makes this book into thousands of execerises! And making the 'boring' Hanon book fun! 😊 I ended up practise Hanon hand separate, more like a study. Different keys. Also very useful, but it has been a while since now. So, how do you plan? Pick an random exercise, a random key, and then apply the rythmic patterns? Every day routine? Great warmup, can't wait to get on with thiese rythmic patterns as a warmup. I'm picking up Hanon again! Thanks a lot! 🙏
Hello @heartofthekeys I've been following you since a long time. Could you make a video on editing such vlogs and how to set angle like you do, apart from that how to record video from 3 angles at the same time. Apps that you use to merge or make such content. It would be really helpful. :)
Interesting. Were you taught to ‘bounce’ your wrists whilst doing exercises? My teacher ( Royal School UK) taught me to keep a straight line from elbow to wrist ( almost parallel to the floor) and concentrate on even, independent finger movement; almost lifting just from the knuckle joints. No judgement inferred of course.😊
Me clicking as fast as possible knowing damn well I don't even have a piano yet 💅🏻✨

I started doing Hanon because of you. I both love and haaaaate it. Lol!

And Annique saves me again from the possible harm to me from my hanon book bcz I was about to give up from doing hanon exercises. Yay! xd

This is high quality content.
Very helpful thank you... I had never thought of playing Hanon at different rhythms. Thanks!
More please!!!
I've been waiting for this ahhh, thank youu

Glad to see you back!
I practice 3-4 hours a day and i alternate between Hanon and Major/minor scales. Helps limber my fingers and wrist before i play.
Thx soooo much Annique. Realy cool
Thank you! I do your routine everyday. What an improvement it made!
This is a good way to develop your technique, it's even better at wasting your time and getting bored.
It's your life you use it as you please... :)
A good routine definitely makes a huge difference, thanks for sharing this very useful video 👍👍👍🎶🎶🎶

Perfect timing for me haha
Annique please review this new "chopin" discovered piece, I'd like to hear ur thoughts on it
I'd love if you could make nr. 3 or any other one that you find useful.

It should take me 10 years more to complete those 60 exercises in your way.

What about Czerny?
Thank you for the great lesson, do we need to rest between each rhythm?
Please let the continuation. I wish there were Turkish subtitles.

New video idea: CAN YOU DO A CHALLENGE WHERE YOU PLAY THE NEW UNCOVERED WALTZ IN A MINOR OF CHOPIN pls
Can you do 1 min 10 min 1 hour challenge on Beethoven sonata op 10 no 1
could you show an example in another key ? thanks !
