We are such an instant gratification society that it is hard to appreciate and accept that this is a process that takes YEARS. It's not something you can set as a NYE resolution and then get frustrated that you can't do one armed handstand pushups by Easter. Thank you for sharing your journey and realistically presenting your path.
You are completely right. Too many people think they can get shredded and improve in a very short time, which is just not true. Social media also has done its part by setting completely unrealistic body standards and some people even using that to sell their products. As you said, real progress takes time and especially consistency over time. People also need to learn, that there is no shortcut, and that what they see on Instagram and TH-cam is not a reflection of reality. What you see on social media is usually the peak performance of the person filming it on a good day and ofc. it is mostly the already shredded dudes you see and not the beginners. Never compare yourself to others. You can use someone you admire as inspiration but don't try to "be" them. Train and exercise to the best of your abilities, that's all you can do. Only track your own progress and not that of other people.
@@TheTrueVirus22 Eh, not really. Most people with at least half a brain know that it takes time & effort. They're just too lazy or "busy" to commit to it. Social media doesn't set "unrealistic standards". If you put in the time & effort, it is very much realistic. If people are stupid enough to believe that they can be in top shape in 30 days, let them believe that. You can't blame social media & society for the choices people make. They should do research & actually use their own logic & reason to choose what they want to do. Let the stupid rot. We're overpopulated as it is.
@@Cjs3315 I think most people know that you do have to do something for it and that you can't be lazy, but I think they still vastly underestimate the time and effort it really needs to get in shape. And yes, Social Media does set unrealistic standards, 100%. You have influencers presenting naturally unattainable physiques as natural. And people selling you products that supposedly make you look like them in a few months, while in reality it would take years. Someone who is experienced is aware of that, but for beginners it definitely sets up wrong expectations. Also everyone ofc. posts their best pictures with perfect light etc. All of that completely distorts the reality of things and leads to a wrong image in a lot of peoples heads. I have seen videos of people showing off their one year progress and then you have people in the comments telling them that it is "nothing". The vast majority has no idea how long it takes to look really shredded, especially if you start from 0. And a lot of people also has a hard time understanding that not every physique will be achievable for them be it due to genetics or the simple fact that there are natural limitations at one point that can only be surpassed by using "other methods"
He (Sondre Berg) is also finishing up his PhD in Electrical Engineering at NTNU (which is Norway's MIT), and also spent a year in China learning to speak mandarin.

Found you through your Magnus Collab. Really appreciate this video. So much goes into improving at anything. I think this will inspire others to set short and long term goals and go after it! It definitely gets me stoked! My goal for this year was completed in the spring (climb 5.12 trad). Right now I am trying to learn how to handle longer term climbing projects. I suppose my goal is to manage the challenge of breaking down a 5.14b sport climb so that I might be able to progress on smaller goals within the climb. At the moment a free ascent of the climb itself is far too much for me to tackle. I've never really projected anything for more than a few sessions so I am certain I will learn an entirely new set of skills! Watching your progress I'm tempted to try to add some calisthenics goals. Or maybe aim for something I can already do, like the front lever, and improve on it. So cool to see the movement and control you are capable of.

I love seeing you embrace the process! So inspiring to see how far you have come; you are amazing
Definitely needed this today after a bad day of progress. I'll make some progress and feel very proud but then hit a wall or even regress and it is a real bummer. Calisthenics really does have so much mental fortitude to it. Thank you for the inspiration :)
I sat down and watched this video last night. At certain points I was watching with absolute amazement at the unbelievable strength this young man has. As it turns out, I subscribed to the channel as I want to see much more. If only I was in my 30’s again.
Check out convict conditioning. It's a journey starting with the most basic exercises.

I'm so incredibly envious of Norway. You guys have so many natural walking parks and sport equipments.
I just started. In two months my body changed, I feel better, and I look better now, which is very motivating. Thanks for posting this :)
Wow you're an inspiration! I wish I could stop getting injured and my body would heal so I could go on a similar journey! My shoulder and my knees keep getting in the way and preventing me from doing the most basic workouts... Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!

Very inspirational sir, thank you I want to continue to push my calisthenic journey.
My goal is to improve over the next 10 years (then I'll be 77 years) by 10% of your achievement level. Since I started gymnastic type activity in Sept. 2021 my strength, flexibility, mobility, skill acquisition, has improved a lot. Also added 5kg of muscle, zero fat, and am now the heaviest I've been in my entire life.
Sondre, if you lived in Brisbane Australia, you would now be my coach, if I could afford you, ha ha.
Never give up your practice, it's why you were born.😊
What an insane journey! Very inspirational.
Wow! I can not remember having actually ever seen anybody here making such a body transformation not just for looks but to achieving these abilities! Respect!
