Much respect to Arnel for sticking up to Journey for more than 10 years straight. No running aways and drama. He is even the lead singer who stayed with the band for the longest time. Plus gave Journey the most gigs and concerts.
Joe Kinchicken ... I dig your well-considered takes here, and they make me ask: Do you have a link to that Arnel “Stone In Love” performance you reference from 5 yrs. ago? I’d way appreciate it if possible. ✌️🤘
That’s totally not true at all, factoids. First of all Steve Perry still has done the most shows out of all the Journey lead singers and he used to sing 4-6 days in a row and tour 10 months straight and make a hit albums and start all over again. The shows used to be at least 2 hours straight. Steve Perry wrote /co-wrote / arranged the majority of the hit songs except 2 and sometimes produced them. Arnel only sings 2-3 nights in a row and in 2019, only toured from end of September to December. The band also hires a backup lead singer to help him out and he only sings 80 min. The band also lowered the key for him in 2012. All Arnel does is sing the songs that are already hits.
Joe Kinchicken ... I found this, Joe, from aught 8, and at 1 min 55, he hits & holds a seriously flat clam that definitely wouldn’t make him grin at Schon. Is this the vid you may’ve been referring to? ... th-cam.com/video/NzmkZTFXOnU/w-d-xo.html
You're actually inaccurate. Steve Perry, as any REAL, AVID Journey fan would know, was with the band during their most commercially successful periods from 1977 to 1988. He then rejoined from 1995 to 1998 when he had to leave for medical reasons. Add all of those years up? He was with them for 14 years. Pineda is 13 years. The touring schedule for Journey since Pineda joined is not anywhere near as intense as it was when the much younger Journey was touring with Perry as lead. Anyone who thinks that Arnel Pineda, who I do enjoy as lead of Journey, is anything close to as talented as Steve "the Voice" Perry is either tone deaf or fooling themselves.
Amel is an incredible vocalist. I really appreciate how he keeps the essence of the irreplaceable Steve Perry that it needs, but with his own unique grit and personality to the song. I feel like it’s a way to be respectful to what Steve created (which is part of the Journey sound), but still allows the fans to enjoy Journey with him gone.
Absolutely agree, Arnel's voice has gotten better with age if you ask me. Maybe he's lost a bit of that high register at this point after all he's 52, this particular is half step down but I still believe Arnel can sing this in standard key any day.
Arnel is an incredibly gifted singer, as was Steve Perry. Sadly, Steve lost his ability to sing in this vocal range, but Arnel still has it. Let's hope he keeps it so that Journey lives on for years to come!
People talk shit (pardon my word) about Arnel and a lot of possible good singers instead of him.. they didn’t realize that Journey songs were not about hitting notes it’s also about endurance among others.. Neal Schon knows what he is doing and sees what he is looking for a promising frontman, hence, the success with all the sold-out concert for 15 years now with Arnel and counting… Statistic says it all to silence these disputable opinions about what could have been and what ifs.. They’ve tried that with augeri (the most identical voice to Perry), Jeff soto (the most powerful voice of them all) and multi-talented deen (perfect but frontman is meant fronting the band and not behind the kit of a drum) and so on.. Arnel simply is a package with an x factor that suits Journey’s legacy at the right time of their seemingly never-stopping tours!

Arnel is still rockin it he has pipes that are like no other, to me he doesn't sound like Perry he sounds like his self just one hell of a good voice doesn't get any better than that, Arnel was the best thing Journey ever did keep on rockin
You're right, he does NOT sound much like Perry but he admits himself that he strives to. He idolizes Steve and he said on Oprah that he tries to sound as much like him as he can. I think he has a great voice but he CANNOT come close to comparing to "The Voice" Steve Perry! ;) There's only ONE Steve Perry and thank God he put that gorgeous vibrato on tracks forever to be enjoyed because, once he's gone, he's gone and no one compares.

The UNIQUENESS or the difference of Sir ARNEL PINEDA among other artist is his injection of unique innovations when a vocalist performs in a band. And how he pours his heart and soul into each song as he interprets and sing at the same time. That’s why when The Journey through Neal Schon hand-picked Arnel, there was a Divine intervention in there I feel, knowing that Arnel would give justice to their songs. At the same, God heard and make perfection, His promises to Arnel to grant his wish of recognition not only to his fellow artists in the Philippines and its audience, instead, he gave the world a new energy and a twist in Journey’s songs. As for me, Arnel is never a copycat of any artist for”HE IS HIS OWN MAN OF AN ARTIST “. He does not want to replace Steve Perry because SP among other Journey’s singer has their own time with the group…. And I call it Phase 1 or the First Book of The Journey when they were still younger and middle aged men at the same time. Ariel Pineda, came in the Second Book of the Older Journey…. He is in the Phase 2 or the Phase 2 per se along, Sir’s Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Deen Castronovo and Ross Valory. What I’ve said above were my opinion during my experience of hearing Journey with Arnel Pineda in main Vocals. I don’t even know, Sir Arnel when he was still based in the Philippines. I first hear him sing in You Tube with their stint in Chile in 2008. I was shocked that the main voice was a Filipino among a group of seasoned artist that of Journey. The rest is history and the beginning of my following and liking the Journey with Arnel Pineda as part of the band. Kudos ‘The Journey’. Mabuhay ka ARNEL PINEDA. SALAMAT SA MGA ELDER MEMBERS OF THE JOURNEY, KASI SA PAGPAPAHALAGA NILA KAY ARNEL, NAKILALA DIN S’YA NG PILIPINAS AT NG BUONG MUNDO. The humility of Arnel is impeccable and worthy of mentioning here plus the humility and goodness of the heart of Neal Schon and other members of the Journey, who welcomed him like their own skin and their own level. Being a member of the one of the best seasoned American Band never changed Arnel as an individual, instead he could help more people wh9 need God’s help through Ariel’s good heart. 🙏🏼😇🙏🏼👏🏼

How come Arnel Pineda sings really well despite of a 10 years span hitting high pitch notes. I thought voice like that will decay as times goes by. Just amazing
This would be quite an analysis. We could observe that Arnel's talking voice is similar to Steve Perry's, so it wouldn't be a hassle for him to work on high pitch. Also we've come a long way in singing techniques in the last 15 years, both in medical and technical aspects.
G7 Sendo the band lowered key for him over 8 years ago and they hire a backup lead singer like that second keyboard player to sing many songs like Deen Castronovo used to on the tours.
Rock singers used to not take care of their voices. They pushed themselves hard, took risks, and vocal training was unheard of. Arnel is fortunate to live in a time when a rock singer's voice is treated with respect.

The only band that was able to replace a singer and not miss a beat!!! Arnel, you rock man!!
What was this acdc thing again...?
Arnold is a fake, never wrote or sung anything original, just filling for Steve Perry, the best
@@lufcdean1 arnold? i think you mean arnel. he has solo albums and has 2 albums with journey where he sings original songs.
His voice is not Perry’s. He cannot shake his accent. Just an above average imitation.
Bullshit!
Arnel sounds amazing ! What a legend stepping into such big shoes and just killing it ! The whole band sound fresh again.
Arnel was a gift to the world. Thank you for continuing our love of this amazing music!
Ele tem uma voz muito boa ❤❤❤
Gotta love Arnel's story. Still has those beautiful pipes too!
Arnel is singing his heart out.Such a nice guy!
Much respect to Arnel for sticking up to Journey for more than 10 years straight. No running aways and drama. He is even the lead singer who stayed with the band for the longest time. Plus gave Journey the most gigs and concerts.
Frm 2007 until the current year 2020
Joe Kinchicken ...
I like his accent that come through. This time next year they may have a new lineup. Who knows.
Arnel is an incredibly gifted singer, as was Steve Perry. Sadly, Steve lost his ability to sing in this vocal range, but Arnel still has it. Let's hope he keeps it so that Journey lives on for years to come!
very well said
I love u journey,and gobless u all ...
People talk shit (pardon my word) about Arnel and a lot of possible good singers instead of him.. they didn’t realize that Journey songs were not about hitting notes it’s also about endurance among others..
Neal Schon knows what he is doing and sees what he is looking for a promising frontman, hence, the success with all the sold-out concert for 15 years now with Arnel and counting…
Statistic says it all to silence these disputable opinions about what could have been and what ifs..

Arnel is an incredible talent that takes this legendary band to the next level. Damn this was amazing to listen to!!!!!
Steve and Arnel are both great singers. Just keep to continue in sharing your legacy to everyone.
Natural voice does not just go away.
Arnel is a straight up rockstar. I haven’t heard anything from him that hasn’t given me chills and blown me away! Perry has such a distinctive voice and I don’t imagine it’s easy to step into such a huge role. But this man is KILLING IT!!! Lifelong Journey fan and I’m living for the next tour! 💜💜💜
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Just saw them last night 4-17-23 in Oregon
They were AMAZING ❤️❤️❤️
My third time seeing Journey
My first one was LA Forum 1979.
@@d.s.28 Thank you for being a great fan and I hope you never stop listening to my music.
Arnel sounded so good in this cut...very strong voice!!! way to go Arnel!!!
He sounds perfect here because he's just sitting and not running around on stage out of breath....
Arnel, you're still rockin your voice is powerfull as ever.
Arnel has an awesome voice, that is why Journey is still alive.
my respect for arnel grew after reading his life story if steve perry could not be in journey is nobody deserves it more than arnel who is great vocalist in his own right
Good to hear Arnels voice comes back..after that long tiring concerts...this is pure, clean and fresh jam. Stay safe everyone.
One of greatest songs of all time. Arnel has a beautiful voice too.
My goodness it is an awesome thing to see this band. Pineda is truly extraordinary. He hits those notes with incredible ease.
Welcome back Randy J. Great job Arnel! Thank you Neal and Jonathan for sticking together and keeping the band going. This song brings back such great memories! It NEVER gets old!
This song never grows old. And I am so proud of our Filipino brother, Arnel. You've come a long way. Much love and respect to y'all.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ I'm a sound Engineer and grew up on Journey's music. They are among the greatest groups out there.
I agree love to a live gig with them as a sound technican and engineer. One thing i would change is the kick drum microphone to shure beta 91a but everything else is on point
I have to admit I was not a Journey fan in my youth. Some 40 years later, I give myself credit for improving in so many ways.....including taste in music. Journey is awesome!!!
I was listening to this while I'm working I couldn't tell the difference between their voices until I saw the video. What a song, what a performance!
There is a definitely a difference between him and Steve and Steve is a way better singer. You can hear Arnel accent from the Philippines in his voice
@@robertbrunson6994 I agree 100%, Arnel can mimic pretty well but that accent always gives him away. And I agree Steve Perry is a much better singer.
@@MylesBrooklyn did you make it look like a Philippines accent is bad?
@@cryptopsycho4838 I said nothing of the sort, it seems that you have severe comprehension issues.
@@MylesBrooklyn Jonathan Cain would probably the first person to correct Arnel if he didn't approve of his singing accent, if there's such a thing lol
This new lineup is fantastic. The Journey never ends!
Unfortunately, it didn’t last. Randy Jackson and Narada Michael Walden are out, and Deen Castronovo is back in.
I so enjoyed this. I love this band. Journey has been my favorite band for 42 years. I will never “stop believing”...rock on Journey. Journey On.
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
What a great great band! I had the chance to see them in Paris in 1976 with Santana and I must confess that was Santana who took me there but in the end it was Journey who blew my mind that night.
Arnel is such a gifted singer! Wish he got a lil more love cause he's amazing :)
He is amazing. And the people who can't see that r jackasses
The legendary Journey. So good!!! Arnel's voice is amazingly great!!!!
From San Antonio Texas. This is so well put together. They look and sound great. Can’t wail for them to tour again.
Steve or Arnel, doesnt matter. Arnel kept the roots of Journey. there's a distinct new to how its sounded but mad respect for keeping Journey and keeping to its original roots.
Happy to see a Filipino carrying the legacy forward.
@never stop fighting Totally!
How that is racism?
@@esaskykke7600 Good question! I believe that Filipinos are a superior race in so far as singing ability is concerned. Hence I stand guilty as charged.😉😗

He souds as like Steve Perry and my oh my this is quite to say.Like.

This is the song during these times. Whenever I begin to feel a little depressed, I listen to this song and it picks me right up!!! So awesome!!!
wow always journey. Arnel amazing voice..
Arnel is now longest lead singer in the history of Journey , 12 years
13
Whoa.
And arnel start at age of 40
Arnel is the longest continuous singer for Journey however Steve Perry recorded his first Journey album "Infinity" in 1978 and his last Journey album "Trial By Fire" in 1996, that's 18 years.
He should have had the rock n roll hall of fame together with the band....so f....g unfair!
I’m happy for Arnel, a young man from the Philippines who never gave up hope that his dream one day would arrive. He is a true ambassador of humanity. The way our beloved country is divided, hearing this only fulfills our hope that better days lie ahead.

I love this band!! One of my favorites!! The new guy from Filipinas is a huge singer!!
How come Arnel Pineda sings really well despite of a 10 years span hitting high pitch notes. I thought voice like that will decay as times goes by. Just amazing
Some do ,some people never lose it.
I am a fan of Arnel since the late 80's when he was still with his AMO band singing in CALJAM (Olongapo/Subic) i really admire his voice. 😊
Rock singers used to not take care of their voices. They pushed themselves hard, took risks, and vocal training was unheard of. Arnel is fortunate to live in a time when a rock singer's voice is treated with respect.
Arnel's voice is so freaking good!
You guys struck gold finding him on the internet.
Big ups to all y'all, your music gives goosebumps every time.
Best wishes from Belgium. ;)
It is really good to see Randy Jackson on bass again playing with Journey.
Had no idea Kevin Pollak played keyboards.
Pretty sure the drummer is Narada Michael Walden.
Randy is a great dude and a serious MF on the bass. That is also indeed Narada Michael on drums. He lives in the Bay Area and is one of the baddest cats ever on the drums.
The song is like red wine....it matures over time....
Watching this video over and over…never get tired watching Arnel Pineda singing. He is amazing!💕
I'm so excited and truly happy to see Mr. Randy Jackson back. Yes, Journey is amazing no matter who's in the band. They were all great in different ways adding their style and takes to the cause giving fans worldwide a multitude of opinions and favorites to enjoy and debate forever. Throughout the journey of Journey the one constant has always been one Mr. Neil Schon. Without a doubt one of the very best and perhaps the most listened to guitar players of the last 40 years. Wow, 40 years!
He is a Guitarist par excellence. He is professional, dependable, versatile and creative. He has contributed iconic, enjoyable and extremely memorable music that everyone relates to. And they've always been positive, upbeat and encouraging. Today's "stars" would be advised to study the template that Journey did and achieved global acceptance, respect, fame, wealth, success not to mention the happiest and sexiest audiences on earth. Keep Rockin. And again, WELCOME BACK RANDY JACKSON! The best news I've heard in a long, long time. God Bless All.
love Neil Schon. Arguably one of the best ever!
Steve Perry had a golden Voice he is my idol,, the problem is,, after 10 to 15 years his pitch of his voice going down,, but arnel is unbelievable his old enough but his voice still the same❣️
