man you make the content i was looking for. im in the process of switching completely to apple and i used to be an apple user back in 2010s but a lot has changed and now, to get an overview, i find your videos very helpful.
Long time user of Things3 and Bear. I decided to for first party apps and see how it works out. So far I like it for a lot of the things you highlight. One thing I do different than you, is that I use widget “stacks” to be able to swipe between Reminders lists. I have a ”today” list where I am tagged (smart list), and then a “today” list excluding me (mostly family or shared stuff). With stacks, you can use the same screen real estate which is nice! I’m pairing Apple Notes with the Bullet Journal style of daily logging which has worked out great so far!
Coming from android, I can see how Apps such as Notes can compliment the iOS ecosystem seamlessly. For me, the ease of use and ux make transitions whilst capturing, viewing or sharing information without hindrance, allowing me to get back to the things I want to do.
Great video Brandon. The two biggest items on my Apple Productivity wish list are 1) The ability to link Apple Notes to Calendar events, and 2) The ability to set Reminders recurrences based on completion of the current item.
You sort of can link Apple Notes to Calendar events, at least one way. Simply copy the link to the Note in the share sheet and paste it into the Calendar event.
I’m 1 minute in and can already tell this is going to be a good vid. Same here, i figured out how to optimize the apple 1st party app rather then deal with subscription’s and other bullshit from 3rd parties
Great video! I would say though that some of the features you detail don’t work in the same manner as they do on older devices like my iPhone 12, gen 6 iPad, or M1 Mac mini. It took me 2 hours to figure out how to attach a link to a Quick Note. It works completely different than the method you used in the video. Continuity copy/paste continue on other device, move calls and video calls between devices, including Apple TV is totally amazing as is universal control. I don’t have a modern desktop mac anymore so I have a question: I suppose it does but can you confirm that universal control works between a Mac Studio and an iPad Pro? 7:15 I use 1Password for saved passwords instead of a locked note simply because it offers superior integration but so does iCloud Keychain. So why not use it for this? End Overall good video! Keep it up and you have earned a sub 👍🏼
I attempted to create the today inbox and I’m not able to pull the task from today unless I placed it in the inbox with a today’s date on it. Any suggestions?
Create a new list, make it a smart list, and under filters go to "Lists" and then "include". There you can add multiple lists together so they all funnel to your new smart list. Obviously if you want a new regular list called "inbox" like me, make that first so you can include it in your new smart list. hope that helps!
Please, how can I create a meeting in apple calendar and activate teams instead of FaceTime as meeting app? That is the only thing keeping me from using this calendar as default.

@@ChristianPhilosemite this helps keep it all in one place. If make an appointment it’s there. I use 30 day view , for here, dot there…”oh, what’s up Tue ok cool”
It holds all my camera gear, cords, spare drives, mice, etc, along with other stuff like flashlights and other gear. I like the aesthetic and functionality over a “normal” cabinet.
can someone give me the answer: if we have a calendar app where we can write down what we have to do on what date and at what time, then why use a reminder app? After all, you don't have to do double duty.
Calendar app served more for hard appointments or meetings. Reminders is more for things that have a long window of time you have to do something. Also gets all that clutter out of your calendar. At least that’s the way I use it.
There is overlap, but I also use Reminders lists of movies I want to see, weekend packing lists, places I want to visit, etc. But I also like it for simple things like to remind me to take out trash every week - something I just don’t want crowded in my normal calendar.
I have both a mac email address as well a google email address. On iPhone and iPad, I use the Apple mail app exclusively, synced to both accounts. On my computer, I use a combination of the Apple Mail app (synced to both accounts) and loading Gmail in a browser (where the majority of my email is). Just depends the mood I am in.

4:23 good tip about using the kanban view as a todo by day for a vacation! 🙌. I’m planning my summers vacation that for some reason contains 2 confused older ladies as travel companions apart from my family, and I use the maps feature Guides to collect stuff to do, but this is really a cool way of planning it by day…
6:39 YES!
1Password is a paid app. He’s using items that come with the device. Passwords will be a separate app in the next OS releases.
I attempted to create the today inbox and I’m not able to pull the task from today unless I placed it in the inbox with a today’s date on it. Any suggestions?
How do you create the Smart list today/inbox? What filters have you used?
Create a new list, make it a smart list, and under filters go to "Lists" and then "include". There you can add multiple lists together so they all funnel to your new smart list. Obviously if you want a new regular list called "inbox" like me, make that first so you can include it in your new smart list. hope that helps!
Thanks so much! I love your channel!
@@BrandonMevesthis is can be done only with Mac? With iPhone i can’t include more than one list, what i’m doing wrong?
Nice moose.
lol just wondering if you would ever make one of these videos
Loser brain, you’re funny bro😂 Thanks for all the great tips you’ve shared. Fortunate for me to stumble upon your video ✊🏾💯
Happy to help!!
Struggling with email on iOS right now.
Please, how can I create a meeting in apple calendar and activate teams instead of FaceTime as meeting app? That is the only thing keeping me from using this calendar as default.
Not sure, never had to attempt that before!
"in conjunction with iCloud and my NAS"
With the way you said it, I heard a different word than NAS
😂
@@BrandonMeves Awesome video btw. I subscribed.
hello Brandon, how is it going? I wanted to tell you that I’m trying to buy the lake backdrop but it won’t accept payment even though the money is on the card so I don’t understand. can you help me thx, have a great day!
I'm not sure, it worked for me! I don't control that service so I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. Sorry about that!
How do you view the lists in combon view? (Is that how you spell it?)
Hit 3 dots in top right and then hit view as columns
@@BrandonMeves is there a way to view all my reminders this way? I’d like to view each list side by side instead of vertically oriented.
Kanban 👍🙂
Great Video - thank you! You have a new subscriber… can I ask the lamps in the background (light globe? ) where did you get them? I love them - thanks looking forward to more videos
thanks! for the lights - the one you see to the right is a random lamp we found at a Meijer store. The one to the left is the Tarnaby from Ikea.
243 e-mails... Could I get that sorted out for you, PLEASE? And all the others? :D
Thanks for the video :)
Ha! The struggle is real!
🔥
apple calendar and that monthly view with a dot though 🤦
What’s the problem? I use it that way for all my chemo and treatments. My hospital app links it automatically…
Sorry to hear youre going through that. May God bless you and give the strength to endure and beat it. 👋❤️
@@ChristianPhilosemite this helps keep it all in one place. If make an appointment it’s there. I use 30 day view , for here, dot there…”oh, what’s up Tue ok cool”
Are you in the garage or if not what’s the rationale of having a tool cabinet in your house?
Do you use Apple Mail as your default mail
I have both a mac email address as well a google email address. On iPhone and iPad, I use the Apple mail app exclusively, synced to both accounts. On my computer, I use a combination of the Apple Mail app (synced to both accounts) and loading Gmail in a browser (where the majority of my email is). Just depends the mood I am in.
I'm here to learn about the productivity apps. Not to know what version of iPhone or iPad or Apple Watch you have.
👍🏼
Is that a 5K iMac 🖥️ behind you?
That’s my Apple Studio display connected to my Mac Studio
@@BrandonMeves The Studio Display stand looks very similar to the iMac stand...but when I checked on Apple online store, it looks a bit different, more towards the current range of iMac...maybe it is the angle of the shot, which makes looks like an iMac. Thanks.
This guy sounds exactly like DetroitBorg
Ha! Just checked him out and I guess I could see that. Never seen his channel before. Fun stuff.
@@BrandonMeves He used to be a pretty big tech channel but stopped uploading all of a sudden
