I agree! Perfect middle ground. NOT big city, but the city is sooooo close. As a retiree, plenty to do and lots of food and shopping. Traffic can be rough, but we tend to stay off the road during rush hour. Moved here over two years ago with Rachael, and she was a fantastic agent for us. VERY happy with the move and with the city.
As someone who lived in the Smyrna/Murfreesboro area for over 20 years and recently moved away, there are exactly zero pros of living in that area. It has been completely ruined.
As a native of Murfreesboro and having lived here all 31 years of my life, I can honestly say I absolutely hate it here. This place has become so overpopulated and it is nothing like the small little town I grew up in during the early 90's. I constantly have solicitors knocking on my door for crap I don't want or need. We have grown from about 45,000 in the early 90's to over 162,000 people now. That's not counting the rest of Rutherford County, which has boomed to over 600,000 people. Don't get me started on Nashville, where everyone works. They all travel, all at the same time, in the same direction. Traffic never stops from 6am to 10pm. The people like me who want out of the city are priced out by all the country music stars that own hundreds of acres in the surrounding area. Housing is so expensive that I'm debating with myself on whether I can even afford to have kids at this point. In short, please stay away from Murfreesboro. We're overpopulated, overpriced, and most entertainment options are going to be about an hour+ drive to Nashville in traffic.
I lived there while going to MTSU. Wife and I wanted to stay but even then a house was $250000 for the same size house that we got in Tullahoma for $79000. It now takes a long to go from one side of town to the other and it takes me to drive there. I guess it is still considered a small town for people outside of TN.
@mikeadams8027 my parents bought back in the early 2000's for 180k and just paid it off this year and they're wondering why I want to move to Montana or Wyoming where it's much, much cheaper. Thei same house is now appraising for over 630k. Absolute nonsense. 40 acres in Wyoming is around 50k whereas I've seen a listing here in Murfreesboro of 6 acres for 1.6 million. Idk where people get off thinking that's affordable for anyone, anywhere. Most of what I see for sale here is people that bought during cocid and are now trying to flip it for literally double their money. Please folks, don't move to Murfreesboro. I'd recommend somewhere at least 2 hours away from Nashville and you having a remote job, if anything.
Thanks for watching! There's a separate video on the topic of reasons to NOT move to Murfreesboro, make sure to check it out! Murfreesboro's population is continuing to rise, despite the cons.
I do too!! Born and raised and I hate it here now my poor little town and now natives have been priced out, can't afford to leave and can't afford to stay!! But I absolutely understand what you're saying.
I would love to know why people are moving here by the droves. I am 4 generations deep in this town and it baffles me. It "was" just a little poe dunk town and it makes me giggle those who move here that do not pronounce it correctly. Traffic I can tell you about traffic. I work 10.2 miles from work and make only 2 turns it takes me anywhere from 25 minute's to 1.5hr.
Ask five people why they moved you’ll get five different answers! Short answer is they saw a better future for themselves here. I don’t know anywhere that takes longer than 30 minutes to get to in the Boro unless there’s an accident on 24 clogging up town. Nowadays though, Murfreesboro IS 20 mins from Murfreesboro and that’s the way it is, there’s plenty of small towns if that’s the vibe you prefer 😊
I want out. Been here 58 years. It is horrible now!! Shame on all the greedy developers for ruining this area and don’t get me started on the horrendous infrastructure
👆👆👆👆This doesn’t get talked about near enough!! I see some more authentic places in the small towns I drive through, just as someone that works out of her car most days. Head to Shelbyville or similar and there is less chain restaurant, more authentic Mexican food & better tacos.

Thank you! I’m so sick of what boro has turned into. It’s terrible. Been here 58 years. This is nothing like it was just ten years ago!
Great video and cool earrings! Gotta represent!
Thank you! You already know! 😉
