Bro, I'm so not mechanically minded but your video was so detailed, well explained & well thought out I think even I would have confidence in doing it myself as long as I prepare my tools, accessories & parts as well as you did. Plus watch & rewatch your tutorial. I see preparation is key. Fantastic video, great job

First time is always the hardest, after that it's a breeze! 💪

I do the oil filter first, also wipe a small amount of grease on the threads of the plastic oil cap, so you don't get any binding between the alloy and plastic cap..Buy yourself a spare cap (have on hand if the $$$$$.hits the fan) . After this I drop the oil and watch it drain while laying under the car so the sump plug can go on fast. I don't use torque settings ,but that's horse's for course's.Another great clip to help the other's that own these car"s👍👍

I'd do it differently next time, wouldn't film it for a start which would make things so much easier!

Yeah did mine a couple of months ago bit scary first time but once you’ve done it you know did filter first then gives you time to concentrate on the drainage of sump and the main drain time of 10 min. Good video 👍

Cheers mate. I don't plan on doing it too often as I still like having a mechanic check over it once a year to hopefully pick up any issues.

Well done mate. I do mine on ramps so I have to start the BT run it and then do the oil filter after which actually gives me more time up my sleeve.

I'd definitely do it differently next time, I imagine I'd save a good few minutes not filming for a start!

Always change oil filter 1st...it doesnt drain the oil pump as its upstream and you dont need to rush this..
When draining the oil sump is when the time starts..
5mins warm oil drain time is fine.
While draining change sump plug washer.

Yep, wouldn't do it that way again but was curious.

how do you know the oil filter does not drain the oil pump ? i hear alot of people say there is no time limit on the oil filter but where is everyone getting this information from ? i have a full ford repair manual and Haynes work shop Manuel and they dont state this ?

      @jmoore9806 physics...
oil filter housing is above sump and oil pump..
When doing the filter change 1st The oil pick up is still submerged in the oil in the sump and can't drain out of pump..
10 min Time count down starts when you remove sump plug and drain oil...

Haha mine isn't that clean all the time, I do try and wash it once every 2 months but that's probably not enough.

    Good video mate.
What did you do with your sump oil?

    • @TheBrowneTown

Back in the 10L container that basically all gets used in the engine, then either store it for a trip to the tip (free to dispose of it) or take it to a Supercheap Auto store that does hand ins.

I don't understand why I never torque the sump plug and filter in any car I work on.

Most people probably don't. The oil filter is normally fine hand tight plus a tiny nip up.
