    Thank you so much for posting this video.
    I changed my fuel filter in 10 minutes this afternoon due to your clear explanation and comprehensive straightforwardness.
    Brilliant stuff, thanks.

    This video has been a massive help with my own servicing as there isn’t too much content with the PJ/PK series online. Keep up the great content mate! A video on replacing your drive belts would also be sick!

    Great video and very well recorded, much clearer than other oil change videos.
    There is a little-known trick when removing the oil filter on the 3.0L engine on the PK, maybe the PJ as well. There is a removable plastic panel inside the left-hand wheel arch, above the suspension, that allows easier access to the filter.
    Also, there are rumors that there is a ten minute time limit to change the oil before the oil pump drains out. This is a problem with the 2.2L & 3.2L in the PX model, the WE-C engine has a gear pump and will self prime.
    Also also, I understand that it is advisable to clean MAF sensor each time the air filter is cleaned or replaced. Supercheap have MAF sensor cleaning spray.

    As i understand there is a rubber flap you move away in your left wheel arch then you can use the thing you showed to loosen it and easy access to oil filter.

    Bought an 07 PJ today, I'm SO happy that your videos exist.
    Watched a couple so far and im floored that a reoce about this secific make and model exists exists as it does tbh.
    Along with the great info, the fact that you get suburb demonstration shots and angles (and actually attempt to frame specific shots prperl, rather than just try and do everythign one handed while filimg with a potato lol), know how to pace the video and edit nicely, your channel seems like it is going to be such an amazing resource. Def Subbed.

    I'll be honest, I've never replaced a sump plug without the mandatory "what f**king knuckle dragger did this???" 😂
    Pretty much spot on for all basic servicing! Only things I'd add (as a mechanic myself); I always wipe down the filter surface to make sure its clean of contaminates (including the old seal 😂 it'll only happen to you once!!) And when I do the fuel filter I under the two bolts, unplug the wire, remove the hoses and take the whole thing over to the vice. Bit easier to change (with a drain bowl) and if the filter is old and stuck you can use your filter tool or multigrips much easier to replace it.
    Oh yeah, and always double check your sump plug!! No such thing as checking top many times 😂
    Good work as always! 🤙

    Forget the sump plug, fit a Fumoto oil drain valve! Also, clean the MAP sensor regularly. MAP, in the intake manifold. It’s easy to get out.

    In one of your vidoes, I may have seen an ODB2 Attachment on your dash that provides live information. I may be wrong about the channel. However, if it were you could you provide me more details about that device. I was just handed a Ford Ranger XLT 2007, and want to start doing some work on it. Viewing from the Caribbean.

    Nice run through Daniel. One thing I would add is to clean the MAF sensor as you took the cable out. Does wonders and is easy as the filters, just make sure to get the cleaner can. Unlucky on losing the drip tray but if it was left in the sun would be better off replacing, I started an oil change to see a crack up the side of the tray and oil going everywhere, luckily the boy was in the backyard and handed me a backup bucket. 🤣🍻

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good advice there Luke, thanks! Fair point about the drip tray too, while it wasn’t in the sun it was quite old so a prime candidate for a crack or two 😅

      I put a bit of duct tape under the sump plug down over the cross member which saves the oil going all over it and makes for a cleaner job.

    Awesome video mate, considering I’ve just bought a pj ranger recently, I’m loving all the ranger content 🤙
    Would you happen to know if the pj has a smart alternator or can I use a regular dual battery setup? Also, do you find the snorkel has increased your airflow?
    Cheers brother

    • @outdoors5352
      @outdoors5352 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I very much doubt it would have a smart alternator. Check the RedArc website, they have a page that you can put your vehicle details in and it will tell you.

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James, glad you’re finding the Ranger videos are useful! Regarding alternator, these models don’t have smart alternators, they came in for the PX models - I actually documented the install of my under bonnet 2nd battery using a basic isolator if you’re interested 🙂 th-cam.com/video/beUL502VwVE/w-d-xo.html
      My snorkel has been on since I bought the car but would definitely provide a small flow improvement over standard

    Those bash plate bolts were obviously way overtight, they only need to be nipped up. You could mitigate this by fitting a larger flat washer and then a spring washer.

    If you can, use a torque wrench to tighten the sump plug back up to the factory setting. Too many dealer grease monkeys hang off the end of the socket and over tighten them.
    The same goes for wheel nuts.

    The sump bash plate bolts are in a very exposed place always road gunk slashing up therefore over the years become very hard to remove, resulting in a situation we saw in this tutorial
    I am always at a loss why people never give the bolt threads a quick brush with a wire brush and then paint the threads with Never Seize before replacing the bolts p
