Exploring North of Perth Along the Coastline || Beginner 4WD Tracks
This video is the first in a series exploring the coastline north of Perth in Western Australia. In this video I go through Wilbinga and then take a track from Guilderton to Seabird before camping south of Ledge Point.
These are all sandy tracks with limestone rock in places, there's nothing too difficult and the lighter your car is the better. All you need is low range, a way to deflate and inflate your tyres and preferably at least all-terrains but this is not essential. Having suspension helps lift the car out of the sand but is also not essential.
All of these tracks are easily accessible from Perth as part of a weekend or even just a day trip.

    Do you think it’s needed to be torqued?

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Nah most stuff is ok if you're used to using tools, but it's worth knowing how hard to go on it even if you don't have a torque wrench. Like with some suspension parts that are over 200Nm it's good to know that you should be using a long breaker bar with lots of pressure for example.

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I do find it useful for low torque things with gaskets, like the transmission case. Makes sure it doesn't get over tightened. Most other stuff you just need a rough idea of how hard to go. Exhaust should be redone after a few heat cycles as the bolts will loosen.

      Double check your sizing, you might need to go the next dye down. Automotive sizes are often not quite a match for metric lugs so for example it will be 31mm instaed of 35mm².

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Still enjoying it, I think I basically sized it up ok as far as the springs go so it seems to be doing ok, not too stiff on the rear. Not sure what OME has but what I have has adjustable bypass, but not separate control for rebound and compression just one overall control point that works well.

    I wish you had done this video a few years back. I installed a TJM steel long range tank when I bought the Ranger in 2019, and on a recent trip had to do an emergency 5 day trip from the middle of the Canning Stock Route to Newman to get the tank removed, crack rewelded, and reinstalled. Comments about my troubles elicited several replies stating poly tanks were better. I went steel in the first place because I thought they'd be stronger.

      Where were your comments? On a forum? I haven't looked very hard but haven't seen any comments about the poly tank failing but I've seen a fair few about the steel tanks. Hi mate great video really help everything is working so far waiting on the loom for the steering wheel control as my CAN bus didn't work either. i have the reverse signal switch working but not getting the camera image onto the screen. Not sure what cables to connect. Any help would be amazing

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, if yours is the same as mine you'll need to tap into the camera feed in the rear view mirror and take it down with a cable. I have another video about moving your camera feed from the rear view mirror that has all the details for it. You can move it completely from the rear view mirror or wire it so it appears in the rear view mirror and the head unit.

      Ahh ok, I would have thought the factory one would have an existing RCA plug that needs to be plugged into the T'eyes reverse cam RCA plug (I think it was yellow) that's on the back of the unit. Mine was labelled, all the connectors in the wiring loom. The wiring loom has a small white clip with pins that connects to the back of the unit.

    Great video! I'd rank the dash cam high as it's for one of those low probability/high consequence events. I have the RedTiger 11" rear mirror dash cam. Got it off Amazon for $199 and it has 4K front and 2.5K rear cameras. I had the previous version (1440/1080) and that's migrated to my wife's car now that the new one is in the Triton. The rear camera is mounted to the top of the back wall of the canopy. So that gives me rear vision + dash cam recording front and rear. I feel naked driving without a dash cam now. So it's an essential. For me ;-)

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like the reverse one for every day driving, but I do need to upgrade it soon as I can see it failing permanently one day. I don't regret the forward facing dash, it's just uninteresting and something has to be last 😛

      @@TheBrowneTown My wife had one of those Viofo forward mounted dash cams. Unfortunately the only time we needed it was recently and it had become disconnected. The screen is small and goes blank shortly after startup so she didn't know it wasn't working and we didn't get the evidence we need. D'oh! I like the mirror-type dash cams as you can see immediately if they are working or not. -Just my two cents. My lowest rank item would be an Ultragauge Bluetooth OBD. What a supreme piece of crap. It is true that to do it without having to drill a hole then you would have to remove the dash. You can do it this way to save money, maybe even ask the dealership to do it this way if you really wanted? Most people don't have the time or patience for removing the dash for an issue which is likely to pop up again and again because the part itself seems dodgy.

    how do you connect the hardwire to the power of car - you did not show

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I ran cables through the firewall in the front left hand side of the car, behind the glove box (for right hand side drive cars) and into the engine bay. I actually did this in a different video as part of the car build so I already had cables ready to go technically. I have a blue sea safetyhub 150 in the engine bay that I use for all accessories, so all I needed was a ring lug to connect my a five and negative wires to this fuse hub, otherwise you connect direct to the battery.
