    We are near those very strong support levels. Could go as low as $200ish. I think NVDA earnings next week could make or break lots of tech stocks. Remember, it was their insane guidance that drove tesla and other up so much within the last quarter. AMAT reacted very well after earnings. Its no coincidence that Tesla is at support levels right at this time. Waiting. But any rally could be pulled back by FOMC meeting within a few weeks. Then we could see positive catalysts like cybertrucks and Meta AI event at end of Sept, lift tech back up. We’ll see how strong the market reacts towards each event

    I bought the last dip/crash @ $105. After thinking about it, it doesn’t make sense to suffer thousands or millions of dollars of losses only to use more capital to buy the dip/crash at the end. Lee, please remind me to take SOME profits before Q3 LoL! Anyway, it looks like Tesla may have bottomed at $211. Hopefully NVDA’s upcoming earnings report is great and serves as a catalyst to reignite tech stocks. If it’s a bad report Tesla will break 200 before CyberTruck, Model refreshes and FSD v12 catalysts pump up the stock; maybe there will be a Giga India and Giga Japan announcement catalyst as well. 😃

    That $200 is not gonna come because there are too many things with tesla that are coming very soon that will increase revenues and margins - highland model 3, cybertruck and fsd version 12.

    I still think if Tesla did a great job of educating consumers about EVs they could not meet the demand and it would help others sell more cars, potentially saving a lot of the competition. Sure they would have higher margins but that would be due to supply constraints mean time creating a higher competition future. This is 4d chess, keep demand at production at any cost while increasing production to meet all demand once the consumers really start to switch, be ready for them.

    I sold at 245, and bought at 215. Given the level of oversold, and the support levels reached, and the post market buying which drove price over 218, I think next week will see a rebound in TSLA price. However, it is quite possible we have not seen the bottom and rebounds will be followed by retests. Perhaps over and over. One thing though. There is a giant, catastrophic event on the horizon for Tesla, and that is Chinese nationalization of the Shanghai plants. This will probably happen in the next 5 years. When it happens we can expect Tesla stock to plummet by at least 50%. That may even be a good buying point but what I want to say is DO NOT put 100% of your money into Tesla. I suggest no more than 20%. There are other disasters which can befall Tesla, but this is the worst and the most likely in my opinion.

      I am waiting to see what happens before I reinvest. I got out at 247.
      I agree with you that we still have a significant drop ahead, but that will unfold with there being a few gains before another greater step down.
      Things are volatile and linked to what happens in the news.

    I think you've given an excellent analysis of the situation but I disagree with two things:
    1) I'm not convinced that the advertising is needed. I have doubts that the general public are as ignorant of the practicalities and advantages of EVs as you say. Rather, I think there are so many consumers out there who make their decision as to which vehicle to buy using their glands rather than their brains (and especially those swayed by advertising) that showing them the benefits of driving an EV just won't make that much of an impression. In support of this argument, I offer this fact: The best-selling vehicle in America is a pickup truck. And I just don't believe that many of the people buying them are farmers or construction workers.
    2) In a similar vein, I think your Jeep/Tesla comparison is off-base. Of course, to any rational person, there is no comparison. The Tesla is a much better buy. But again, the people buying Jeeps are not rational. These vehicles have terrible service records and their greatest attributes--the ability to be driven off-road--are almost never taken advantage of. The last time I sat in one, I saw what might be the cheapest-looking, most plasticky interior of any car I've ever been in--and I've rented plenty of economy cars. Again, this car is being purchased because it projects a certain image: They are free spirits, driving to the summits of mountains and fording shallow streams. And they're willing to pay a premium for that fantasy.
    The only way to combat this phenomenon--what I would call glandular car buying--is to get people into a Tesla (or any good EV) for a test drive and experience it themselves in a visceral way--particularly the acceleration. And that's really the approach that Tesla is already taking.

    The only thing that I have to slightly disagree with you on, regarding new vehicles - they need a van. I believe the cyber truck will do well, but a van would be desired by so many people! Every mom will want one, service companies ( plumbers etc) RV enthusiast it would be so much less complicated than the cyber truck to engineer and produce , and not nearly so far outside the box. A van would require less batteries than a truck, vans are not typically used for towing, therefore fewer batteries would be required. The van was the right choice to be the next vehicle not the truck.

    • @TeslaEconomist

      @eyesuckle 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I completely agree with you, Thomas, but I think that lately, people have forgotten about the origins of the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck began in Elon's mind as a kind of pet project. I believe he stated publicly, around the time that it was announced, that he didn't really care if it was popular. It was the vehicle he wanted to realize and to drive himself. It was like his personal reward for his theretofore completely practical and successful approach to getting Tesla up and running as a company. Hence, the radical--some would say wacky--design.
      That it turned out to be wildly popular (if the reservations are any indication) was kind of a bonus!

    • @thomascogar8912
      @thomascogar8912 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@eyesuckle Could be, but the greater good would be the van…. Ive been wrong before and we will never know for sure (regardless of how well the truck sells. As I said, the van would need fewer batteries, get into mass production sooner and be less polarizing in the long run. The van is better for the business, and the environment. Since I am a stock holder (and assuming you are correct about Musk’s reasons) an ego trip is not a good justification. The best justification would be that he planned to buy Mercedes-Benz and use their sprinter platform for Tesla vans. That would be a rational explanation for me.

    all these arguments about Tesla being an amazing company are not relevant. I know that is hard for the Elon worshipers out there but if I may, I'll explain how the valuation of any company works. Built into the share price is an expectation of growth (or not). So for Telsa, at PE of 51, built into that is the expectation that the company will be able to continue to grow rapidly for many years. A reasonable estimate is to equate the PE figure with 90% of the annual growth rate. So if the company is growing EPS at 25% per year, you'd expect to see a PE ratio around 28. Do the same with Tesla and you're looking for them to be able to keep their eps growing at around 45% for at least the next 5 years on current valuation.
    So here's the problem. They are no longer growing !!!!!!
    Yes, you read that right.................THEY ARE NO LONGER GROWING.
    Yes, they are expanding revenues but any idiot can grow revenues if you cut the price. The question is, what affect does that have on margins and in the case of Tesla, it's pretty bad. Operating profit in the 2024 is going to be flat. It will not have increased compared with 2023.
    Let that sink in a minute.
    A company with a share price so insanely divorced from reality, requires eps to continue to grow at 45% a year, such that it will take at least 50% of the total global automotive market (their market cap is still almost as big as the next 7 car companies combined............which is laughably ridiculous).
    The competition from the new EV kids of the block (Nio, BYD, Li, Xpeng) plus the likes of VW, Hyundai and the various other ones when they get their act together in 2024 means that 2022 was probably peak Tesla.
    The competition is now so ferocious Tesla has no choice but to cut prices.
    I am genuinely baffled why people are struggling to understand this. To say...........'they are ramping up production/building new factories' and using that as proof of the company's long term growth prospect is irrelevant. It's not how many cars you can build, it's how many you can sell. If they were really shifting all their cars in a hurry, ask yourself 1 simple question: Why are they having to cut prices?
    The days of Tesla having the market to themselves are over and the super profits they have earned are in the past. They are a car company and they will earn car company margins once the simple laws of competition squeeze them down (as is happening now).
    Tesla as a growth stock (eps > 30% a year) is over thus they should (and are) be rerated accordingly. I would suggest a PE of around 23 is probably fair which would mean a price target in the next 12 months around $80-$90.
    What this guy (and so many others) doesn't seem to understand which stops them being able to understand how to value a company correctly is that there is a massive difference between a great company (which Tesla is) and a great investment (which Tesla is not). Simply stating they are way ahead of the competition/great cars blah blah blah.............DOES NOT MAKE IT A GREAT INVESTMENT !!!! It depends on what expectation relative to actual growth prospects are baked into the price.
    It is still insanely overvalued and anyone long............this is your last chance to get out. The Tesla rebound at the start of the year is over. Expect it to be close to or below $100 within 12 months.
    oh and before someone says........'yes but you're overlooking the value from autonomous driving'...........yes I am. Tesla are years away from making this happen and deep down, you all know that's true.

    FSD may not be allowed on most roads. Would you allow a car with no driver in your neighbourhood with your kids out playing. In fact TSLA is being sued for not delivering and misrepresenting their product. They may have to refund billions. If they release it without government approval and it kills or injured, they may get the pant sued off them! It could kill the company. They should leave it at ‘driver assist’ like the other companies.

    • @ammasophia4663
      @ammasophia4663 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      FSD is still evolving.
      Decades ago I had a friend whose child was hit at the mailbox because it was evening and snowing, the neighbour didn't see the child.
      FSD will actually be MORE observant and be looking with surround vision.
      It isn't perfected... yet... which is why someone must still be in the drivers seat with hands on the wheel.

    Tesla's preceding 12 months earnings will start to fall starting from Q3 & Q4 2023. In Q4 2023, start of CyberTruck sales and/or FSD progress may cushion the negative impact of the lower preceding 12 months earnings ending Q4 2023.
    Just look at the preceding 12 months earnings from Q3 2022 to Q2 2023 and you will understand why: US$3,292 millions + US$3,687 millions + US$2,513 millions + US$2,703 millions.
    Elon Musk also shared that 2023 Q3 vehicle production and delivery will be lower because of numerous factory upgrade activities being expected.

Catalysts abound for this stock, but market sentiment is fickle... and the FED with growing concern around the Chinese economy may not make for a Merry Christmas. Either way, it's buy and HOLD as well as wait and see. Thanks TE.

    Why do you speak of Tesla only as an automotive company? What about the millions/billions of dollars of Megapacks they are selling? What about home solar? What about supercharging? What about clean air credit income? What about nasc income? What about bots? The one thing that has me worried until it is sorted is the safety tests on the cybertruck. With the front seat passengers positioned so close to the front, I worry about the crash test results. I also worry a bit about Elon Musk's health. It makes no sense to me that TSLA is dropping. But then the stock market reacts with its emotions rather than its brain, like a hysterical psychopath.

    Elon has put TSLA in a really bad position.
    His plants are pumping out way too many cars - way too many
    So he has to hold firesales to unload his cars
    that's a terrible decision on Elon's part
    close the plants for 3 months. Elon let demand catch up to supply
    So is TSLA a great buy when Elon holds firesales?
    I think the market has spoken.
    There are dozens of other bad decisions Elon has made that make revisiting $100/share a real probability.
