    Thank you Parker. Your solution worked perfectly today for my 2003 (blob-eye) JDM Subaru WRX wagon. The fix cost for me was about 50 cents (US).
    I used two 3.3 ohm 1 Watt resistors. 1W resistors are slightly larger in size and have thicker wires compared to the 0.25W resistors, as they are designed to dissipate more heat when under load. That said, 0.25W, 0.5W or 1W resistors should all work in this situation.
    The backstory for me was that I had to replace both my original factory Subaru SRS airbag front seats with non-airbag (still Subaru) seats due to wear and tear on the originals. Since the replacement seats do not have airbags in them the yellow airbag system cables under the seats were not able to be used and were just lying disconnected under the seats. The fact the yellow cables were not plugged into anything meant my airbag dashboard light remained on when the car was running, which in my country is a vehicle "warrant of fitness" fail. Like your car, mine does not have any seat occupied sensors, so only the one yellow airbag cable under each seat to worry about.
    If it helps anyone, here is the exact process I used:
    [1] Remove car keys from ignition switch.
    [2] Disconnect the negative terminal on the car battery (using 10mm spanner).
    [3] Slide first seat to furthest position back.
    [4] Gently unfurl yellow connector lead on floor to exposed position at front of seat.
    [5] Take resistor and gently bend both legs with pliers.
    [6] Plug the resistor legs into the connector (one leg in one hole, one leg in the other hole).
    NOTE: It doesn't matter which leg goes in which hole as resistors work in either direction.
    IMPORTANT: Make sure the resistor legs cannot accidentally come into contact with each other as this can create a short circuit!!!
    [7] Repeat steps [3] to [6] for second seat.
    [8] Reconnect negative terminal of car battery (using 10mm spanner).
    [9] Insert key in ignition and (not starting car yet), turn to position where dashboard lights (engine check, doors open, etc) come up. Airbag light should be one of the dashboard lights that comes on but after a few seconds should disappear if you have successfully resolved the airbag issue.
    [10] Remove key from ignition.
    [11] Carefully wrap electrical tape around each connector and resistor so that the resistor cannot come loose and fall out.
    [12] Place airbag cables back on the floor under the seats
    [13] Slide seats back to normal positions.
    [14] Repeat step [9] to confirm everything is still fixed.
    [15] Finally, start the car (full turn of the key) and check all is working as expected (airbag light should come on initially, and then disappear after a few seconds).

    life saver. just ordered mine. I knew the sir bag lights was something to do with the seats getting changed out on my 04 wrx but didn't have a clue how to get the airbag light off. MOT due next month so was going to get a garage to fix it which would probs charge around £100. hopefully it works on mine when they arrive. cheers man

    I can confirm this worked on my 2009 Subaru Forester X. After a full suspension makeover my stock seats could no longer hold me in place. Bought a aftermarket seat and totally forgot the stocker has a airbag in it. Found this video and bought the exact same resistors on Amazon. My plug is different so I didn't have to bend the ends over. Light went out and I taped the resistor neatly to the plug and stuffed it back under the seat.

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The other ones do but the JDM seats don’t have airbags

    • @nikrbawker
      @nikrbawker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's sending the resistance as if it were plugged in and sat on so my guess is yes this is a great work around although in event of a crash with only driver, passenger will also blow in this method but it's the most cost effective way. Going to have to try setting this up on a different car, similar yellow airbag tech though. My issue is I modified my steering wheel and don't want to unmodify it hoping this will work if not I'll have to weld up a fake stock steering wheel. Or just buy one from a wrecker.

    • @Brewgod23
      @Brewgod23 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does this fix disable your airbag? I was wondering if you are in an accident, will the other airbags will still deploy? Or does the system just thinks there is someone sitting in the seat?

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Lopez it just tricks the computer to thinking that the seat airbags are plugged in. All the other airbags should function as normal

    • @Brewgod23
      @Brewgod23 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have a sensor the tells the system if someone is sitting on the seat. What can be done about that? Sometimes I put a bag of groceries on the passenger seat and I get a light that says front airbag is disabled. The new seat does not have a connection for that sensor.
