Making Sally Bowles from Cabaret the daughter of Sweeney Todd, and using Follies 'Jesse and Lucy', The Rich Man's Frug and The Rythum of Life from Sweet Charity as the base for the song AND choreography, all performed by the cast of Hair! I want THESE minds around me! Unfortunately I'm stuck in 'Meh, it's good enough' Pittsburgh, where dreck gets a standing ovation of people in black and gold sweaters!

@@kittykat123425 It absolutely has ingredients of Godspell (parable story) and Hair (certain shots), in addition to the Follies comps people mention. Most of the songs on this show have a direct inspiration (Sweet Charity here, Rhythm of Life + Rich Man’s Frug), and then several secondary ones in order to make the number feel more universal. Like how Miss Codwell is mainly Mrs Lovett but also Miss Hannigan and Mr Bumble.
It's interesting to know, but I doubt it bothered her much. I lost my dad two years after she did, when I was 19 and this is one of my favorite songs from the show so far. It is sad, for sure, but I'm sure she wouldn't have done it if it upset her.

They are very different, so much so that I'd expect people to have strong opinions about which is better. I personally like Schmicago better, but that's my personality and musical alignment (chaotic neutral).
I love how she's vibing in the entire song and not getting the message in the least. A+ absolutely hilarious and wonderful. Dove's so funny in this.
