@@MW53516 I have to agree. These orchestrations are absolutely perfect. Reminiscent of the original, playful and whimsical where appropriate. Well done!
This is so much fun. The entire point about Schmigadoon is that musical theater is gaudy and unrealistic but its still entertaining and has pathos, even when its leads are normal people from the real world. I am going to call it an instant classic.
I like how they’re parodying Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. It sounds really good and like a musical they would’ve done. Even though it is a parody it is also done with a great love and respect for what came before
This is clearly made by REAL theatre people, FOR real theatre people. Love it. Thank you Schmigadoon team, and thank you Apple for green-lighting it and letting them do what they do best.
@@credendovides20 I mean I kind of get their point? I mean it seems a lot of bad musical adaptations that get green lit kind of always seem to lean on the fact that whoever makes them just either doesn’t like musicals or doesn’t get why anyone would like musicals, and can’t lean into the genre fully. It seems like we have to constantly lampshade “oh wow everyone’s singing how weird is that?” Or has to go all dark and serious in order to be “taken seriously”. I do love that everyone here does lean into the silliness and especially during the plot when Josh and Mel try to point out the awkwardness it gets ignored by the Schmigadoon residents and we don’t focus on it too much.
I thought the idea was kind of funny, but I expected the musical part to be kind of so-so. I'm amazed at the high level quality of these musical numbers!
I was just thinking the same thing. Music, lyrics and choreography is all on point! Almost like watching a professional production of Carousel or something, this is very high quality musical staging.
Oh my gosh! I haven't seen that since I was a kid and you just reminded me of it and I need to watch it again! I don't know enough people who have seen it
My favourite number of the whole series. Keegan-Michael Key's "holy shit!" is the perfect timing, but the "and he says/and she says" way of the dancers to narrate is absolutely perfect. It's a pity that, in my opinion, the numbers on the first three episodes are way better than the ones in the last three.
Me too. I was raised on musicals. My husband hates them. But we both absolutely love this show. It’s so funny and clever. I hope that it can keep going. With Broadway musical royalty singing and acting as the main characters you can’t go wrong!
It's funny seeing Key's character not enjoying the musical number when Key in fact was in a musical where he did a tremendous number with his character
The thing is. They are acting like stereotypes of the average male and average female in a relationship. A man who doesn’t want to commit. And a woman who doesn’t understand why he can’t share his feelings. He is basing his discomfort on the fact that it’s in public and weird things are going on. And she is basing it on it shouldn’t matter what’s going and what’s wrong with declaring your feelings in Public
Love the concept. The song and dance numbers are corny as hell...which is the cornerstone of the shows humor. It's like a Broadway version of Pleasantville...where you have a blender of Rogers and Hammerstein musicals as the comedic chorus, and our protagonist couple are the straightmen of the series.
This is such a funny moment!!! I wish they had more stuff like this in the show. Without the absurdity against reality it kinda fades into forgettableness. But the first 3 episodes are absolutely fantastic!
I can't stop laughing I'm so cracking up laughing over this. It is literally like watching a musical comedy that seems that you just can't get away from it. No matter how many times did you have tried to get away from it it always seems to find you.
most original of the decade. If they dont win all the major awards, im gonna get QAnon to infiltrate into every media and burst into a musical featuring melania trump and lil wayne.
Honestly getting a season 2 is cool but it should have ended with the one season. The cliffhanger ending is just perfect since you can hope they stayed together or just imagine they went their separate ways
You had me up until the 'true love' bullshit. There is no 'true love', there's just love, that human beings are willing to have, hold, honor, and feed. Love takes work and commitment, just like anything else worth having in life.
thats what she says at the end. She is mad because she feels lile she is the only one trying to keep their love and flourishing it and that he is just letting it to die because he doesnt wamt to commit.
