Arguably, the traditional would be better too shoot, as long as it's tapped so you can mount a sight on it. Reason being, the more weight the firearm has too it, the less it will recoil with the same round.
I was going for a tactical version of lever action but once I saw the traditional in person I fell in love with the old school. Picking up my Henry big boy tomorrow
Like most guns, I prefer something in between. I don't need the thing to be completely covered in rails and accessories, but better sights and options for lights and a threaded muzzle all seem like good ideas
I can totally understand why people would love the tactical it totally looks awesome if your into that stuff but personally I think it’s overkill and looks kinda stupid
Theres alot of criticism towards people who use lever action or more “outdated” platforms but truth be told use whatever you can reasonably afford and whatever youre good at Theres no such thing as an outdated gun in the right hands
It's ridiculous how the comments that make the most sense, get very little attention and praise on social media. But the BS comments are so popular. This comment deserves more likes.

@@rain8767 And even then, a Glock isn't for everyone. Horrible trigger, lack of manual safety, and limp/wristable design is the complete opposite of new gun owner friendly.
Back when I barely had money, I would go to my local gun store to just look around (who doesn’t right?) At this point in my life I didn’t have much money and I could only dream of having a lever action since any quality lever gun (that wasn’t a .22) would cost $800 and up. One day, a really old lever gun caught my eye. Tucked REALLY deep between the Marlin 1895 SBL’s. It was a $200 Western Auto in 30-30 and boy was she purty. Despite not having much money I HAD to get it, and holy shit does it shoot like a dream. Still one of my favorite guns in my collection. Wouldn’t trade this thing for the world.
Depending on the model, you can somewhat customise a traditional one. Obviously you can't do this on the ones that eject out the top, but you can tap it in order to mount a sight or scope if you know what you're doing. There are also a lot of after market things you can get for them.
Seemed to me you were much more stable with the traditional lever action. What’s the difference other than looks and being able to hold couple rounds on side of the tactical lever action.🤷♂️
Weight difference. Which arguably, you want the heavier one(traditional) they were designed to be carried long distances anyway, but the more weight you have on the gun, the less it will actually recoil.

Tactical. Having the option of a muzzle device and suppressor (subsonic .30-30 is one of my favorites) out of the box, a pic rail to mount optics and featherweight furniture make it a dream of a brush gun.
When I finally purchased my first lever action I was surprised cause the classic wood was cheaper & was lighter but the Henry X 45-70 was more expensive but heavier. I prefer the classic anyway but it was nice that my choice was further pushed with both weight & cost
Tough call. I lean in favor of traditional wood furniture, but I've seen some REALLY nice looking tactical builds. Space cowboys got some serious vibes going dude.
Something in between; give me wood furniture and case hardened steel but upgrade the sights (I think Mossberg got it right trying out fiber optic sights on their 464 lever actions) to something easier to use and a threaded barrel for a suppressor or muzzle device on the end.
Whever I see a "tactical" levergun I can't help but think of people who wear katanas and trenchcoats and think they're modern samurais but instead think they're modern cowboys. Same mallninja vibe.
I think Henry made the best “tactical” lever action with the model x. I believe it perfectly combines the beautiful silhouette of the traditional with some of the modern features ( mlok slots, a few rails here and there, fiber optic sights, a threaded muzzle and side loading gate.
I have the Henry big boy 357 with the gold trim. Lever actions are a great home defense option especially in the 357 caliber great re out of a great weapon
I like a in between. I like to be able to mount a flashlight if I want to do so. And I always like the option of a threaded barrel. Those modern features with wood furniture definitely hits my tastebuds.
i have the ruger marlin 1895 sbl but i will also be getting a super custom tactical lever action. both are awesome for different reasons but in my opinion nothing beats how sweet a traditional one looks
Oooooooh, that's a tough choice! I love the look of the traditional, but the tactical looks so cool! I can't choose, so I guess I'll have to pick both! 🤩😎
It's hard for me because I love lever actions, but the practical side of me knows the tactical is the one I should have. So I have both lol. But my tactical one is a Henry X with the minimum of what I have attached to it - flashlight, rail with integrated rear peep sight as a back up sight, and quick release red dot mounted to said rail.
i love them both to be honest and the awesome thing is theyll do both. you can buy a marlin or other rifle with its beautiful wooden stock and foregrip and also purchase some tac stock and foregrip options and switch it back and forth depending on how you feel or the situation. working on them is half the fun of owning them for me so i like both! that all weather one in stainless with the stock and grip you have on the other one would look amazing together! thats what my build is. the all weather rifle with poly tacs and picatinny rail for a red dot (my fav sight for a lever action) i dont like a scope on them but a red dot on a tac set up looks great and works even better! enjoy them man! happy plinking!
This is hard I would love both I’m a lever action fanboy but personally I’ve used an actual cowboys 1800s lever action rifle and it was so fun.
